This shows again that women know sexuality is their only real attraction. Desperate to keep her job, Amherst College supervisor, Victoria Maillo asked her TAs to party with and have sex with students to encourage them to enroll in her Spanish classes. One of the TAs filed a lawsuit against both the college and Maillo.

Quote:Dimaris Barrios-Beltran, a former lecturer in the Spanish department at Amherst, claimed discrimination, retaliation, intentional infliction of emotional distress and wrongful termination in a lawsuit against Amherst and her former supervisor, Victoria Maillo. The suit describes her as becoming concerned soon after she was hired in 2012, which is when Barrios-Beltran claims Maillo told her she liked to find “pretty faces” online to hire as teaching assistants in order to attract more students to Spanish classes and spoke disparagingly about some students and Barrios-Beltran’s Puerto Rican accent.

Early in 2013, Barrios-Beltran’s teaching assistant called her in tears, according to the lawsuit, saying that Maillo was treating her like a prostitute. The teaching assistant claimed that Maillo was angry that she was dating a student at the University of Massachusetts and told her and other teaching assistants to go to parties with students and sleep with them to encourage them to take Spanish. Barrios-Beltran claims that in frustration, the teaching assistant asked Maillo if she wanted her to sleep with a different guy every night like another teaching assistant was doing, and the teaching assistant told Barrios-Beltran that Maillo responded, “that is what I brought you here for.

Barrios-Beltran spoke with other teaching assistants in the department who confirmed this, according to the lawsuit: “These young T.A.s believed they were being asked to prostitute themselves in order to increase enrollment in the Spanish Department.”

A. It didn't work, enrollment was down and Barrios-Beltran lost her job.

B. This COULD have been all made up by Barrios-Beltran after getting fired since no TAs were identified or filed any lawsuits themselves.

C. Whether or not it's all fabricated to extort money from the college, it shows that either Barrios-Beltran or Maillo quickly resorted to prostitution to keep their jobs.

This is a fascinating case. Kudos for digging it up. The Spanish teacher had 25 years at Amherst. 25 years. She brings in TA's and encourages them to promote the dept. and hopefully increase enrollment. TA loses job and reframes and reinterprets the past to pursue lucrative lawsuit and destroy teachers long career.
Note- never trust women ever. Keep it boring, routine and professional. They will reframe and reinterpret everything for personal gain a la Bill Cosby diarreah.

It really is that bad in many places in the States that simply being NOT fat will make you desirable.

Anyway, I smell bullshit. Even if the story can be believed to be true - who the fuck thinks fucking students is going to promote the class? What are the actual odds that a handful of slutty teacher's assistants hooking up with students is actually going to get any kind of notable boost in enrollment? Poor argument, but fun story.

Amherst sure is becoming a hotbed for these wacky social justice scandals. Odd since it's in the middle-of-fucking-nowhere Massachusetts. It's a party school but Amherst is one of those towns that would be nothing except for the fact there happens to be a huge and popular school there. There is nothing in Central MA. Surprising this kind of shit isn't coming from Boston/Cambridge.

Actually there are a bunch of schools out there but in Amherst alone you have Amherst College and U.Mass. Amherst.

"A bunch"? Not counting community colleges there are maybe 10-12 schools in total West of Worcester, and at least half of them are around Springfield/Chicopee. In comparison, there are about 30 school in the Boston area.

Like I said, if it wasn't for the fact that there is higher education in Amherst, the town would not matter. UMass is the party school (state school, high acceptance rate, tends to attract lower-class types) but Amherst College is where all this shit has been happening that we have been reading about. Something about the accessibility of the great outdoors, legacy of Thoreau and Emerson, and the boredom of half-forgotten decrepit mill towns creates a safe (and monocultural!) environment in which beards are meticulously trimmed, the coffee and beer are small-batch brewed, and SJW ideas and "alternative lifestyles" fester.

I've never been out west, but I'm curious how west MA compares to somewhere like Colorado.

Sparse but I guess you could call it a microcosm. There is not much out in Western, MA that's why I mentioned it. A lot of it is backwater and hillbilly/white trashy for the most part, but you do have some super liberal areas like Northampton and Amherst - again likely that way because of the schools that are in the area. Most of it is woods and back country and there is a lot of nice outdoors lifestyle. Springfield and Chicopee are shitholes. Last I checked Springfield, MA had the highest crime rate in the country (this was a few years back but it gives you and idea). It is more similar to upstate NY than Colorado I'd say.

Just to put wood on the fire, I had a discussion with a close relative from that area over Christmas. She went nuts over global warming. "It is the biggest crisis the world is facing" according to her. I said one volcano does more damage than all the cars on the planet, She came back with, "New York City is going to be flooded!" I said, "They can move. Whoop de doo." ISIS sprawl, cartel violence, refugee crisis don't mean shit to these people. Its "Turn the thermostat down! You are overheating the planet!" These are educated people which makes it so much worse.
