Countries and Cities Where Girls Aren't Cell Phone/Text Message Bonkers
As a Part II of sorts, to this thread, American Girl Cell Phone/Text Message Hell hole /thread-5077.html, which countries and cities have you guys come across with minimal Cell Phone/Text Message usage by girls?

This is actually a huge factor in the whole scheme of things, in my search for places I want to spend more time in.

Places with Heavy usage:

America (with Southern California being the mecca) - over 90% at any given time

Places with shockingly low usage:

Spain - under 3% at any given time

Where have you guys noticed high or low Cell Phone usage by girls

Thailand?
Philippines?
Russia?
Montreal?
Molodva?
Ukraine?
Montenegro?
Serbia?
Ararangua, Brazil?
Punta del Este, Uruguay?
France?
Chile?
Belarus?
Kaliningrad?
Lithuania?
Buenaventura, Colombia?
Poznan, Poland?
Lima, Peru?
Bucharest?
Madagascar?
Seychelles?
Mauritius?
Paradise pockets of America? Possibly Grand Forks, SD/ND?!!?
etc etc etc

Break it down if you have the data!

I want to know the places that have, No calling. No texting. No BBming. No Twittering. No Facebooking. No Foursquaring.

I don't even like when people walk with their cell phones in hand.

Update:

In Ireland now. It doesn't reach Southern California levels by any stretch of the imagination, but it is still kind of high.

I was in Buenos Aires in April. I am trying to remember if it was bad or not. The girl I was hanging with didn't have a cell phone most of the time cause she was waiting for some Iphone knock off to come in from China, so my view is skewed.

RE: Countries and Cities Where Girls Aren't Cell Phone/Text Message Bonkers
I'll put in dope for Switzerland.

One of the most technologically advanced countries in the world, altho the telecom/mobile/satellite television sector out here is basically an oligopoly. There are 3-4 main providers in any market and the rest are too insignificant to mention.

One of the saving graces in Switzerland is that the mobile phone tariffs are exorbitantly high. For e.g. it will cost 0.45 CHF per minute to call another mobile phone within the network and around 0.5-0.6 CHF per minute to call fixed land lines and other mobile provider phones.

The result of the this thankfully is that mobile phone usage in terms of actually talking on the phone is quite low. Girls will call up someone, quickly get the message across and then hang up. Many people also call up from offices (surprise) to avoid paying thru their noses.

The downside of this of course is that texting is INSANELY popular. In any bar at any given point in time, you will see 50-60% of the girls texting on the phone. Altho text messages are still expensive at 0.10 CHF per SMS, that is very cheap compared to calling. Also, many providers sell combined packages which have 300-400 SMSes free per year.

I've been on several dates when the girl was actively texting/receiving texts in the middle of a conversation. At that time I was still in pre-game beta mode, so I tolerated that. But now, whenever a girl pulls that shit on me, I simply tell her to stop it or suggest that we meet sometime without her phone.

Facebooking is all the rage here, altho people use Facebook more for planning parties and social events. And by the way, let me tell you one thing. Cities in Switzerland are quite small and therefore there's more of a community feeling within. Add facebook to that mix and it literally feels as if everyone knows everyone at a party.

Twitter - Not popular at all. Swiss people dont have an opinion anyway, and even if they do, they prefer to be neutral about it.

Ideal date location? - Top of the Alps, which is the only place where the blasted mobile providers havent managed to provide coverage yet. Altho that is all set to change this year with Orange and Swisscom putting up extended mobile base stations in the small villages on the alps.

Regarding mobile / cell phones, I get totally pissed off with the kind of user who reads / sends text messages while walking down the middle of the pavement (sidewalk), they expect everyone to move out of their way !! It really gets on my tits - I usually walk straight into them ......

This is too easy.

Spain can't be the only country where people don't use cell phones every two seconds, right?

Thanks.

I figured as much. I am sure the Flemish Cap in winter isn't much of a cell phone hot spot either.

I was more thinking along the lines of places like Spain, where you would think people would use them but don't.

Thoughts?

I think the Philippines is the texting capital of the world.

When i was there i was used to getting between 50 and 100 messages a day.

RE: Countries and Cities Where Girls Aren't Cell Phone/Text Message Bonkers
Very little usage in Eastern Europe. A girl may pull her phone out 2-3 times over the course of the night.

I would not be surprised to see a correlation with this with the amount girls drink on average. Generally in English speaking countries, girls drink a lot and get drunk a lot. In southern and eastern european countries they do not drink a whole lot and do not get drunk. It may be some sort of overarching social anxiety thing. Argentina they were not on their phones much either.

"I think the Philippines is the texting capital of the world."

That's depressing. Is Thailand the same way?

cibo -

"London, England is on the level of SolCal cell phone texting/messaging (lived in both)."

London is pretty bad. Have you been to LA/OC/SD in the last 6 months?

There has been an incredible rapid increase there. It is not uncommon at all to see four girls sitting at a table with drinks all on their phones simultaneously.

Entropy4 -

Nice. Another notch in the win column for EE.

Yeah, I returned home for a bit a couple weeks ago since I had a break before I start my internship. It's kind of amazing how girls can stare at their cell phones the whole time when someone is talking directly to them.

There has to be a club or something that bans cell phones. If not, this would make a decent business venture.

bad news in Sacramento, California although in this 2nd tier city bitch chields are low.

July 3rd saw 3 early 30's women losing their looks and not yet realizing it getting ready to get in their car for the weekend, not talking to each other, all enthralled with their smartphones.

I have thought the same thing many times.

Although, in years gone by, back when people in general and club owners specifically had guts, they would have done it.

In our modern day world, I kind of doubt it.

iknowexactly-

Is Sac 2nd tier? I was thinking 3rd tier.

Yeah, Northern California is not to different than Southern California. In Northern, people probably slap their phones a little less. And with a little less gusto.

Hey! I like it here!! I would think it's a good place to look for LTR.

Seriously though, I guess if Hell-A is tier 1,
SF is tier 2--Sac is tier three. However my impression is that the bizarre paranoia plaguing LA and SF -- like women are always scanning for a potential serial killer, etc -- is wonderfully absent here.

I think the police really watch the downtown, with no tolerance for A-hole behavior. In the park by the Capitol there are no thugs, ever from what I have seen.

Since the chicks don't get harassed, it seems they're more open to people talking to them. And Davis is only abou 15 miles away, fancy university with just THOUSANDS of smoking chicks-- however, they are a little more snobby than the working class and government worker class in Sac.

Don't take offense. I have a harsh grading scale for cities.

I don't even like the "tier one", "tier two" stuff.

I would bust it like this:

LA and SF = B Grade Cities (both high B, possibly low A on a good day)

San Diego and OC = C grade cities (high C)

Sac = D Grade city

Doesn't mean there aren't stupid and easy girls though. In fact, Sac manufactures them. I would rather just catch them in one of the above places.

The only way I know how to swoop Sac girls is in one of the other above cities or in Las Vegas.

Or your local neighborhood California Gentleman's Club.

Sac pipelines those girls in.

Ha.

G - first time poster..

So last summer I spent month+ gaming in Rio,
and I had a moment quite similiar to your post about Spain. I was hanging out w friends in the Baixo Gavea neighborhood, at a weekly outdoor street gathering (couple hundred upper-class Cariocas drinking beer, eating pizza, catching up with friends - and like most heavily "local" scenes in Rio much more a social scene than pick-up) But as I surveyed the scene and it hit me like a ton o' bricks: of the hundreds of people I could see, NO ONE had their phone out, and this remained constant all night..being from LA (cell phone capital of world) this was insane..ly refreshing and dope. And it was not a fluke, it was typical. On dates, same deal - phones are occassionally used, but to me, anyway, only as necessary..

so my take is this: cell phones/FB/texting is common in Rio, and I used mine to my advantage to pull #s, get dates, etc., etc.
The key was that, unlike here, Brasilians did NOT constantly text/post while with me, or with each other.

I really hope that it's NOT that they just haven't "caught on" though. I've only been their a few times, but my take is that it's more of a cultural thing:
To me, brasilians (and probably the Spanish) are less selfish, less narcissistic, less emotionally in need of constant validations from friends, less detached, less full of self-loathing, less angry, more "present" and finally..just more overall chill, friendly and fucking cool.

Anyway, always dig the data/unique perspective you and the boys have been breaking down, and on more than one occasion it has def served me well. big ups to y'all.

vaya!

I'll do what I can-- but you should always consider the source-
Me, being an AFC over 50 don't really hit hard on the ~25 year-olds I'm attracted to, I'm going to the Ukraine for that.
But i do chat with them and although they don't seem all that interested, they make a pretty sincere attempt to be genial-- for Americans.

BUT-- If you are under [wild guess] about 45 I think a guy could do really well in one of the three sub-areas of Sac.

Executive Summary: (Downtown) A, safe, clean, economically secure environment due to vast numbers of high-paid State workers along with polite but thorough policing provides a sense of security which allows healthy, almost country-amiable - if somewhat dull- girls to wander around looking openly bored and open to wanton sex and booze in the shimmering, intoxicating summer heat.

Ambitious and smoking hot 9+ girls probably go somewhere more cutthroat to hawk their wares as Mixx suggested.

Cell phone addiction at usual pandemic Amerika levels, but the feeling you couldn't get a word in edgewise you might get in San Francisco is absent.
Just thinking of this I realized LOTS of cute girls ride bicycles around here, it's flat with well-marked bike lanes, and they don't text while they're riding-- Bicycles are
the low tech cell jammers and they use them themselves!!
===================================
1) Downtown ( only area I know.) Rectangle bounded by 3rd st on the West and about 50th St to the east, and A st to the North and V street to the South. California State Capitol is at about 9th and K Sts. Nice park with dozens of labelled plants from all over world there. Little or No panhandlers or other harassment occurs there.

There are pseudo-chic dance clubs for glossy chicks and tons of cafes for hipster chicks scattered throughout the area. I recommend a rental car from Hertz at 16th st intersection L street or bicycle in summer, you can easily patrol the whole area.

2) U Cal Davis ( About 15 Miles to the West, is a separate culture of higher level students, this is a fairly elite university with a medical school which is cheap so the students are smart. Daddy's a doctor or someone has money and got to go to private school. I would speculate if you are under 35 with "A" or "B+" game you could clean up here. A certain number of students are those grinds who clearly are totally in their heads, but there are some other that are 8+ and really horny too. More snobby than the State Worker class downtown or .....

3) Sacramento State College in East Sacramento. A 2nd/3rd tier State College, students less diligent than the Davis students, more likely to be first in their family to go to college whereas the Davis students probably have professional parents.

Here's some impressions of the Sac area:

Overall Ratings:
Girl Quality: If LA/Miami is 5/5/ Minneapolis is 4/5, this would be maybe 3/5. in the downtown area here near the State Capitol, they're 90% white, most of the others black.

Bitch Shield Level: 2/5 where 5 means every girl treats you like a rape suspect. ( I count being in a rush a bitch shield, because she'll blow you off even if she isn't shit-testing)

Grooming Style: Informal , I like simple clothes because in my experience those girls are more freaky in bed than those that dress up, but for you high-heel freaks I think it's not the best.
Some girls are " All show and no Go" . Flowery granny dresses can conceal a real interesting and depraved freak within.

Willingness to talk to strangers: For Americans, 4/5 where 5 would be someplace people actually have some curiosity about you and value friendliness as something besides a stupid Beta weakness.

As I mentioned very little street paranoia, possibly due to heavy but polite and professional police presence around the Capitol area.

Me and my small indie film crew were filming illegally without permits in the rose gardens 400 yards from the Capitol and the cops were either pointedly ignoring us or joking that they wanted to be in the movie.

I usually can't stand American women, always in a rush, looking self-important and really not playful at all.

Here they look very vulnerable, they walk around in the summer heat looking hopelessly bored, their expressions practically screaming "talk to me!"

Most DO have the extra 10-20 lbs.

Sac's about 80 miles northeast of San Francisco, but very, very different in density, economy and feel.
1) it never really goes below 50 degrees, though it rains some in winter. Right now it's kind of uncomfortably hot in the Day ( 95) but at night it's pretty dreamy, no jacket needed.

The warm weather screams, "Don't waste another summer."

RE: Countries and Cities Where Girls Aren't Cell Phone/Text Message Bonkers
Anyone who's been in the game and with any capacity for introspection will have witnessed see how technology has changed the game. Men are falling behind in the arms race.

The 2000s saw a dramatic acceleration in the growth of female-centric communications technology - namely, the explosion of texting, social networking, and online dating that the OP touched upon. Yet most PUA material was developed in the late 90s/early 2000s, before smartphones and Facebook. IMO PUA theory hasn't kept pace with the evolution of communications technology, especially now that the "seduction community" has morphed into the "seduction industry".

IMO all the growth in technology has had a negative effect on game. Simply, girls today have too many distractions and too many options. When was the last time you saw an attractive young woman traveling alone without iPod earpods, or peering down at her smartphone, or without a cell phone glued to her ear?

There was a time when “getting a number” actually meant something. You’d call her home and she’d pick up, you’d have an actual phone conversation, and you’d set up a date. Seems like something from the Jurassic period, but the older guys here will attest to this.

Now it’s 2011. How many threads have we read here where a guy seemingly has a great interaction with a girl in a club and gets the number, only to have the girl screen out his call or ignore his texts the next day? “Flaking” as a verb didn’t exist in the 90s or earlier – flakes were something that came with dandruff.

It’s funny to read guys in here still crowing about getting numbers. Fellas, numbers means nothing. Girls today give out their number like candy on Halloween. How many of those numbers are translating to dates and lays?

Now guys will come on here and say that it’s all a numbers game – that you need to talk to 100 girls and get 20 numbers, play these little text games, and maybe get 3 dates out of it. Who has time for that sh*t? I have other demands on my time – I work, I study, I work out, volunteer, have hobbies, and spend time with family and friends. Far better to invest in one quality interaction with one quality girl that I’ll be assured of eventually dating and laying.

If Mystery and Style had to contend with today’s bar/club/night game environment (and not the late 90s), Mystery wouldn’t have developed his ingenious Mystery Method and Style wouldn’t have written The Game. They likely would have growing frustrated with the constant cell phones, the constant smartphones, the constant texting and Facebooking, the constant pics-with-digital-cameras and attention-wh*ring, the constant flaking – and quit. There would be no PUA community and no PUA industry. Of course, none of this was epidemic in the late 90s/early 00s because the technology didn’t exist.

Mystery and Style were the right guys that came about in the right place at the right time – in the Web 1.0 era when the internet permitted the anonymous dissemination of information worldwide via newsgroups, but before the machinations of Web 2.0 (social networking, online dating, smartphones & texting) that have killed the game these guys developed for good.

Game 1.0 is dead. It’s time for Game 2.0 – game in the smartphone era.

you raise a good point. Maybe the answer is full frontal assault.
These guys advocating direct game: " I really would like to <...>"

When their snatch talks, they still listen-- is it THAT hard to break through the chatter?

Or like I mentioned above-- just screen by going after girls riding bikes. They're going to be in better shape anyway, not texting, and less likely to smoke. More into direct physical experience. Or the ever favorable Yoga chicks...

Pretty much any country in Asia has very little cell phone culture. Even with upper classes. Europe and North America has a little left, but the young generation seems to be loosing it too.

That's why I don't understand people saying they don't need a watch because their cell has it. Nothing worst than these clowns ruining the ambiance of a restaurant/theater etc.

Tico Jones -

"To me, brasilians (and probably the Spanish) are less selfish, less narcissistic, less emotionally in need of constant validations from friends, less detached, less full of self-loathing, less angry, more "present" and finally..just more overall chill, friendly and fucking cool. "

Good to know.

Welcome aboard.

I think someone on here said Phils is non-stop texting.

Thoughts?
