I just listened to a few podcasts and the one that caught my attention was about procrastination.
Quintus when you say 'Tune out the non-sense so that you don't become part of the non-sense' how do you do that? When it comes to physical distractions I can find ways to do that, otherwise I wouldn't be eating junk food only once or twice a week.
When it comes to computer (internet mainly) distractions it's a different kind of battle.
It's almost impossible to avoid the non-sense, so how do you ''distract'' yourself with the good stuff and what do you do when you want to take breaks without streaming youtube videos etc ?
It's very simple. Don't over-think this.
When I say "tune out the nonsense" I mean the same thing as a dietician would say when advising someone to avoid junk food.
Do not allow shit to enter your body. The sights you see, the things you hear, and the things you read all contribute to your mental state.
Garbage in, garbage out.
Stop participating in evil things. Stop watching bullshit TV shows and movies. Stop being around dickheads and dunces. Stop dating shitty women. Stop watching the sensationalist news.
If you want good things in your life, you have to be around good things.
It's hard to do, because we can get addicted to the "high" or "fix" of being angry and outraged. It's short term, and it doesn't last. And you feel bad later.
I also had an article on my site called "Beauty Attracts Beauty, And Ugly Attracts Ugly."
I think you would enjoy it. You can find it on the site.

RE: Quintus Curtius's blog
I couldn't find any threads on the "Stoic Paradoxes" translation... so this seems a good place as any to leave a review.
I purchased this book many months ago... but delayed in reviewing it. I wanted to give it at least three reads, and reflect on it. The book is relatively short, but full of gold wisdom nuggets.
On wealth...(From Paradox VI)
"What is this impertinent display in pointing out the fact that you have money? Do you think you are the only one who is wealthy? For the sake of the immortal gods! May I dare to have heard something, or to have learned something? Are you alone rich? And what if you are not in fact rich? What if you are a pauper? What riches to we actually understand, or to which man can we affix this word? I believe it applies to that man whose holdings are such that he is easily content to live freely, who ask for nothing, hungers for nothing, and wishes for nothing more. Your spirit alone should be the judge of whether you are rich, not the pronouncement of others or your own possessions. Does your spirit believe that nothing is lacking, that nothing more should be cared for, that it is satiated or even content with the money it has? If so, then I grant that you are rich." ...
---
The book is full of such passages, you will need to take the time to digest them to appreciate them. I was going to email Quintus with some questions, and then I found he had created an 8 part podcast that covered Cicero's life, and an in depth explanation of every chapter! I was blown away by the depth and quality of the podcast as a supplement to the book.
This book and the supplemental podcast are highly recommended. Keep up the good fight Quintus.
