I agree, the mistake totally got my attention, I didn't even know these pageants still exist. With the growth of reality show and online programs like Amazon Prime. This will be a tremendous boost to this infamous pageant.

Shows don't operate on their own, they're soldiers in a standing army. Miss USA is run by the Miss Universe Organization, owned by Donald Trump and NBC Universal, which is co-owned by GE and Vivendi. That means the Miss USA pageant can be enjoyed as a loss leader for MSNBC, NBC, USA Network, Bravo, A&E, Hulu, Activision/Blizzard, and Universal Studios.

And rival media is free to capitalize on it if they want. Oh, is she Muslim? Then off to Fox News and Glen Beck and etc. You think CBS is talking about it because they want to boost NBC's ratings?

I don't feed into these conspiracies because frankly its much more likely Steve Harvey actually fucked up the reading than buying into the idea someone(s) actually consipracied to pay Steve Harvey money to fuck up the results. Who exactly is paying him off? Is it with cash? Is it a check? If so did Steve claim this money to the IRS? How many people would be involved in a pretty high risk move for such a weird marketing ploy. I just can't logically picture someone high up enough to be able scrap the money together to actually think to themselves "You know I should pay Steve Harvey off to mistakenly named the first runner-up as the winner."

It shows how Western feminism falsely projects its narrow political goals on the global context.
