What's the verdict on post 1st date comms?

I know the rule-of-thumb is that a girl contacts you if it went well, even though they say their goodbyes "let's talk", and stuff like that. Does that apply to dates that lasted an hour or less?

There is no set time.

For example:

-I went on a date last night, wasn't into it, we bounced, she thanked me about 15 minutes after.
-I'll always tell the girl to text me when she gets home safe, that way I can open the convo whenever I please.
-If a date was quick and short I don't bother contacting them for a day or so.
-I've had girls contact me saying they had a good time, yet I never get a second date with them.

I'd say hold off on contacting her for a day or so, unless she contacts you. It's always a mixed bag with every girl.

Just ask her for another date.

No need for games.

If I can make a very clever joke / play on words about something that transpired from the date I may do so the same night.
If nothing else, it's a good gauge to see if a second date is on the cards.

If the chick responds in a positive manner or laughs at the joke. All good.
If no response. Fair bet there'll be no second date. Then it's simply onto the next chick.

I like the idea of asking them to contact you when they got home safe ( especially if they're drinking or they have a long drive) Sometimes I don't though as it's a bit of a test to see how much she enjoyed herself if she sends you a post date unsolicited text.

If she contacts me that night after the date via text, either solicited or unsolicited on my part, I always wait until at least 10 or later the next morning to respond. If she says something like "I had a great time tonight" or "I had a great time last night"

I'll text "I did too, we should do it again sometime when you're free." To which she'll usually reply in the positive then I'll go " great, when are you free again?" and set the date.

If I do not get a text from her, I will usually wait until the following week to text her. Example, we date on a wed or thurs or Friday night. I'll contact her the next Monday or Tuesday night with an opener. Then, based on her energy and the flow of the text, ask her out again.

Rinse and repeat. The goal is to get her to eventually start contacting you after dates and every time she reaches out, you just set the next date. She'll learn the pattern.

It takes two to tango.
