Which spots do you hang out in Brasil? Like I said in my previous post most of the people who hang out in Zona Sul in places I mentioned like Nuth, Zero Zero & Praia speak decent English because those are the spots the upper middle class to rich people hang out. But those clubs don't play any Samba and stick to Techo, Dance and even some Hip-Hop on some nights but mostly don't have many of the type of Brazilian Women that I'm particularly attracted to the most.

I'm versatile in my partying and have kicked in those aforementioned spots to Lapa, Rocinha and the Baile Funke parties in Castelo and Via Show so I have some experience around Brazilians of all socio-economic backrounds. When I tell my well off friends who live in Leblon, Lagoa and Ipanema that I kick it in those places they are surprised because they wouldn't dare set foot in places like that.

I'm just wondering what is mostly of your social agenda Monday through Sunday so I can get an idea on what your flavor is...

Hello
well, i usually go to places like Melt,Mud bug,Veloso Bar, Emporio,Nuth,Lord Jim pub and bars like the one you said you went in the another post, devassa, belmonte, etc. So yeah i go to places where usually also there are another tourists,i dont find it bad, i actually love to meet new people and pratice my english, and in these places almost everybody speaks english, including the brazilian girls who are used of being in the environment where are many english speakers.

And yes maybe you like the kind of women who are more in the lower class, like black and mulatas ( no prejudice here, just the truth of how Rio is) so yes usually you would meet them in bailes funk and stuff like that, were mostly dont really speak english unfortunatelly
So, my tip is, go to the club Melt on tuesdays, they have a samba band playing at 11:00 every tuesday, and there are MANY tourists but also there are a lot of different women there,i always see mulatas, morenas, white, everything,i think that is a good option to listen samba in the south zone in a place with english speakers

I agree with what you said in your post, darker people really have low end jobs here, is a big social difference, here the whiter, the richier, people already link white skin ,blond hair and blue eyes with money,so thats also the reason why there are so many gold diggers after white gringos: because they assume that theyre rich, but mostly of the times who do it are the lower class women, who never travelled and have no information, so they still have this stupid idea that white gringo men are all richDodgy
I did voluntary work in the favelas and ive seen so many gorgeous women who are dumb as a rock, dreaming in finding their rich white gringo who will buy them everything, what i see here everywhere is that the darker and poorer the girl is,the less she is going to want to be with a black foreign guy because of their ignorance and prejudice about their own color

Much of what you say is true. I have a Black American friend who has lived in Brazil for years now and he corroborates that the women who give him the hardest time are the Black girls.

For him, the lighter the woman, the easier. Because of this he moved to Sao Paulo.

I guess opposites attract

Then again that ignorance and prejudice is understandable. Brazil operates on a defacto caste system - almost like the US pre 1965 but without the obvious racial tension.

In reality, black and brown Brazilians are shut out of the greater economy ,politics, finance, ...everything just about. So, one the average, the men will be poorer. - just facts.

My Brazilian friend blame the telenovelas though. Brazilian women are addicted to them - and all the telenovelas ever show are rich white men as the end all and be all of existence and anyone darker than a paper bag is not caste or caste as servants. The media then reinforces and created their prejudices and tastes.

@Kdolo^^^Hahaha Dude I think you meant the opposite. The black women are probably the most likely to get with you with rather than a white/morena woman and thats fact. You fools better do your research on the racial hierachal system in Brazil before you go their and be very disappointed. surprised

oh yeah the telenovelas are also something that helps to destroy the image of black people here.the black guys in the telenovelas are always the losers / waiters/ cleaners/slaves/ killers..I grew up whole live watching telenovelas ( now im older i know it is toxic,so dont watch anymore lol) and i dont remember of any black guy being the 'good guy' or the hero in the novelas, Tv Globo brainwashes people ,i think that they're guiltly for some of the racism in this country

RE: Black Guyz Adventures in Brasil
From my observations many of my "Black" Brazilian friends hook up and are with the Brazilian "white" girls (Good Looking too) more often than darker Brazilian Girls and this is especially in Rio...This probably has to do with their social standing (These guys have $$$) and I think the opposite attracts works both ways in Brazil with men and women. I have seem dark as charcoal Brazilian Brothas with Dreads with FINE Blonde Brazilian girls on the regular in Brazil as well. It's kind of strange to me but when I walk the streets I notice I never really see a good looking on what I would consider "Black" couple in the United States walking hand in hand in Brazil. When I'm in Sao Paulo I have many good IOI's in the clubs from both Black, Asian and White girls and I don't have a problem pulling. Brazil is such a huge country that my experience isn't the Gold Standard and shouldn't be taken as the official status of what's going on here but these are just my observations from my short stays here.

And @Sweety - Just because someone is Black or Mulatto doesn't mean they are from the poorer class...I have a FINE Black Brazilian Dentist that lives in Sao Paulo whose is from Minas Gerais who will put that logic to shame...It's just hard to find those types overall especially If you hang in Zona Sul all day with gringo chasers. I think you said yourself you are of African and European descent so in your country that is considered Mixed or (Gasp) Mulatto (I hate that term btw). Personal question I have to ask you...Do you think growing up that those various shows, social status and peer pressure influence about people your own color has influenced your choice and preference In men today?

Ha...I was actually there this past Tuesday but didn't arrive until after 1am made out with one chick and pull a few numbers but that was it...Way too many gringos in there for my liking. And BTW just because a chick is black or mulata doesn't mean she is lower class...You are of Black and European descent RIGHT? Does that make you low class as well?

You are making a very broad generalization here...I have a few American friends that have gotten with and maintained relationships with Fine working class, Black/Mulatto/Mestizo women with no problem over the years...If you don't mind me asking which part of Rio do you live in and your family is from?

I didnt meant that, i just said poorer in a generalization,or course that there are many successful black people here But in a generalization they are the bigger part in the lower class over here, we cant deny that.

I am not a mullata, my father is a mulatto and mom is daughter of Europeans,so i am a light morena - again the same history here a white girl and a black/mullato guy, no doubt that light women here are more likely to hang out with black guys but ( only if she isnt racists/is openminded and dont watch novelas lol)

Oh yeah the media and everything have influenced me and everyone else, like it is in the whole world

yep then learn portuguese to talk to then, because the chance of finding women who speak english in those places is not very big

it doesnt meant that of course,is a generalization, and im not black at all,i have african descendents but very far,im a light morena

Obviously this affected your own taste and preference in men? Care to elaborate on YOUR personal preferences and why and what has influenced you?

yes it did, before i had a bad image of darker people..thinking that theyre poor and dont work and blablabla but after travelling and opening my mind,i just realized that people are been brainwashed here with the novelas and seeign so many black people working in shit jobs, but the problems is that i see that many people just dont hire then for better jobs, wich is very sad

[i]You are making a very broad generalization here...I have a few American friends that have gotten with and maintained relationships with Fine working class, Black/Mulatto/Mestizo women with no problem over the years...If you don't mind me asking which part of Rio do you live in and your family is from?

well, if you say so.. that is what i have seen, a lot of gold diggers.. even in my social circle i know many many,of course that there are good ones but the girls in the lower class many are raised learning that they have to get a rich husband to help their families,i would only believe in that these relationship were fine if there is no money involved at all in the relationship- which is hard to see, never have seen ,honestly. Never in my life have seen a lower class Mulata/Black girl dating a poor gringo who dont give then gifts/money. NEVER. I know it sounds bad but is not my pprejudice,is what i see, and i am in the 'scene' so i know hundreads of gringo-brasileiras couple, i have some black friends who date americans and the guys send them money everymonth and come here when they can visit them, and meanwhile these girls are on clubs cheating them and laughing of how stupid theyir boyfriends are, and of course when the guy is here, they act like theyre angels, seriously, i have seen it so many times with lower class girls that it also creates a pattern here, many people when lookup a white gringo with a black girl they already think that shes a gold digger, like once,i was in a restaurant and there was a black girl and a gringo, and the waitress told me "oh,i shouldnt be working here,i should get the gringos money like that girl there, better than work uh?" ,so if they have this bad reputation, then is because is not only me who see this kind of golddigger behavior in them. Again let me keep clear that i am not acting with prejudice, i am just saying WHAT I SEE and im not saying that all of then are like that,i am saying that mostly are like that ( by what i see)
Ah,and Im from south zone

Thank you for your honesty and candor Sweety...It's nice to hear fresh perspective from "The horses mouth" so to speak...There you go you just learned another English colloquialism to ad to your repertoire Smile. Brazil is another world...I think all the racial and color codes they use to divide each other based on class is so interesting as well...I'm about the same color & look of Neymar and the other guy who they posted in earlier pics so of course I probably get a different reaction than some of my American Brothers from Brazilian Women but at the end of the day I still identify fully as a Black Man in America with everyone else...Different thing the Latin and Spanish speaking countries in the West obviously when it comes to race.

Oh so not so different than the crap Hollywood puts out. Over here we call them soap-opera's and it is the same re-inforcement of negative images. I get a kick out of kicking down these stereo-types.

oh yeah the telenovelas are also something that helps to destroy the image of black people here.the black guys in the telenovelas are always the losers / waiters/ cleaners/slaves/ killers..I grew up whole live watching telenovelas ( now im older i know it is toxic,so dont watch anymore lol) and i dont remember of any black guy being the 'good guy' or the hero in the novelas, Tv Globo brainwashes people ,i think that they're guiltly for some of the racism in this country

Oh so not so different than the crap Hollywood puts out. Over here we call them soap-opera's and it is the same re-inforcement of negative images. I get a kick out of kicking down these stereo-types.
yep ahhh and by the way, black people havea holiday in Brazil. yeah. its called "Dia da consciencia negra" the main celebration is because of a slave in the past who could get freedom and fought for his rights, and nowadays it is just the day of the black people, isnt that stupid? since they have a holiday, they are being 'diferent' than another people ( white/asin,etc) i think this whole country contributes for the racism,is too much bullshit. Can you imagine in this holiday white people saying "congratulations for the black peoples day" toa black person? is such a joke.

another thing. we have special 'preferencial' spots for black/indian people in the colleges. yes is stupid.
because they want to make sure that the lower class is included in the colleges, so besides of judging lower class by their money, they judge by the color, if youre black or indian you make the requirement to participate of this special program. amazing uh?
so with all this bullshit,no wonder why many black girls here have prejudice about their own race

Hmm, well if you were dark black or indigenous, you might feel differently. Just sayin'.

I'm black. I grew up with white people all over, studing in a private class and later, university. all white people. but, I remember that I'm black in 2 situations: 1. when people say it. 2. when I'm among familly. but, "hen I was a kid, I wondered why my family was not white as my friends during parties. they looked all the same and mine was "different!

RE: Black Guyz Adventures in Brasil
It's sad that all this race nonsense still exists in the world. I have zero experience of Latin America but it seems that the best place for a black person to grow up is probably Anglicized countries in major cities such as London, UK or some northern city in the U.S.

I've been to a few countries that are absolutely packed with blacks but the race relations in the cities I have been to has absolutely beggared belief.

It seems that in countries like Brazil and other Latin countries, the dark skinned people have been brainwashed by stereotypical images and concepts so much, they actually welcome their role as second class citizens.

In my opinion, I think the U.S (gasp!) might be the most developed in terms of race relations because Americans will say what's on their mind which can lead to a healthy discussion of issues.

Other 'politically correct' countries i.e. Canada will never speak out in a judgemental fashion and as a result, secretly harbour a most fiendish type of prejudgemental behaviour that extends from regular interactions with regular individuals to an institutional standpoint.

Moma - I hear what you are saying bro but I have to disagree about your comments on the USA. I went on holiday over ten years ago with a cute white blonde girl in Fort Lauderdale/Miami area, the whites stared at me like they wanted to kill me and the blacks looked at me as if I were an alien. I am sure the situation has improved since then, but I would be very hesitant to repeat that again.
In Canada I can almost walk anywhere with a white girl from St John's Nfld (great place to party) to Vancouver BC, sure they may mumble some disapproval behind my back - but they sure as hell are not going to touch me or drag me to a pickup truck.
UK to be honest with you, was another sad story which I feel this forum is not the place for this.

I hear you on the blatant reactions one can get, especially when mixing in the South..

However, U.S keeps it real. You know what they are thinking. If a person doesn't like you, you won't have to do any Charles Xavier deductions to figure it out.
In Canada, they won't touch you and smile pleasantly NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO but you'll find that you can't get that job or penetrate certain social circles.

This has also been substantiated by many Canadian expatriates I know that have moved to the U.S and would not move back.

This is the same for friends who have actually moved here from the U.S and baulk at the glaring differences in terms of social relations between the two..

(07-14-2011 01:38 PM)InternationalSwagger Wrote:  I travel to Brasil (Rio & Sampa) 3-4 times per month for 2-3 days at a time. From my observations you pretty much want to avoid the Stereotypical Black American/Overly Hip-Hop Vibe especially in Rio (since that's where most of those types go) like what the girl was describing If you want to get at Middle Class to High End Brasilian Girls especially in Rio...The Sex Tourists and young cats have ruined that but you really don't have to worry about those types going to the same clubs because those dudes don't leave the Copa scene at all...You will never see them at Praia, Melt, Zero Zero or Nuth in Zona Sul or in Lapa. The good thing about those clubs is that their are some nice chicks that speak english there but the music kind of sucks and they don't play any Samba.

When I travel to Rio I prefer to get with more mixed chicks/light skinned black women...They have some serious stunners there but the problem is that you will not find them in abundance in Zona Sul or Barra, Ipanema, Gavea, Leblon etc and If you do they more than likely are trying to get with white Brazilians or Tourist.

For the fine mixed/light skinned black women you have to hit the Samba Schools like Manguiera, Salguiero and others near Centro and Zona Norte and cool Samba/Pagode clubs like Casa Rosa and spots in Lapa...One problem though...Most of these girls don't speak a LICK OF ENGLISH! And that's the bottom line really...Most people of African Descent in Rio do not have the education levels of their "White" or lighter skinned counterparts therefore it's going to affect your gaming IF you don't know any Portuguese and limit you to the higher end scene with more pretentious babes. I swear when I was hanging out at Manguiera Samba school I was kicking myself for not knowing the language they had some seriously beautiful women in there with long hair, exotic eyes and perfect honey dipped bodies.

Also If you don't speak passable Portuguese It will be a waste of time really trying to get at any chicks, you won't be able to game at all for the most part like you would in our home language, I sure miss some of the little nuances and words I can use in English...I have seen some pure dime pieces out here but It's very frustrating not being able to run G like I can in any english speaking country. Good looks and charm will get you in the door but without portuguese you will be limiting yourself SEVERELY. I have lucked up quite a bit using charm and good looks and a few drinks and IF the girl is feeling you then you can make it happen.

Also with regards to social status and race and color in Brazil...Most of the domestics, street cleaners, security jobs and other low end jobs in Rio are occupied by Black and people of darker color...It's amazing sometimes just walking down the street and I'm clearly the most well dressed brother that they see so I definitely get some double takes. You just have to make sure to stand out and come GQ and you will be fine out there. I was hanging out at Devassa Ipanema on the solo tip the other night in a Suit and I approached single girls with no issues just posting up sipping on brews and they were VERY interested in practicing their English and invited me to some clubs later on. Also a funny thing is that when I'm in the clubs some think I'm Brazilian and when I start talking they really can't believe I'm from the USA. One chick had the nerve to say I was lying about being from the US because my English was too good since she assumed I was Brazilian. I had to show her my California ID for her to believe me...lol.

Thats a good look man....It is really interesting hearing all these opinions and stuff but REALLY refreshing to here an experience from a cat that is on the ground there and knows where to go for different things. Just like here in the U.S., Im sure Brazil has its highs/lows, good/bad. I plan on , when I roll next year, to do it all. I wanna hit the Favela and see how they roll, definately some of the more GQ spots u laid out as well. White, light, dark...I wanna see ALL Rio has to offer when I go.The big advantage I hope to have is sum basic Portugese...the Brazilians I see at the gym are more than helpful with me practicing on them. And they also give a different viewpoint as to traveling there. Yo, since we both in the "A" I was wondering if u use a specific travel agent???

I think I'm paranoid.

Welcome to the forum Sleepy

Nevertheless, let me contribute to the topic...

In my neighbourhood of Copacabana, I'm pretty much used to see packs of black american guys with their loose clothes and characteristic mannerisms walking around, eating the same burgers from the same fast food chains they get back home, and frequently with a likely coloured prostitute by their side. It is actually a very common sight, especially during summer months.

So I say, black guys might have that heavy stereotype over here, which also isn't an excuse to prove it differently by gaming girls properly and dressing accordingly, ie dropping the whole "in da hood" garments which have no cultural significance over these lands.

That's my take on it...

OK...I agree with URBANERD about this vague generalization of Black Americans. So this statement you made was based off seeing a few crowds of tourists? That is not a valid depiction of all of us. And also, one can wear baggy clothes to chillout in and the dress it up when one wants. Not just to holla at Brazilian ladies. I coud speak for days on the comments that you and SWEETY made but we all are entitled to our opinions. Not because of offense but to defend the fact that because some of us dont wear skinny jeans all the time we are not bad people..:angel:But once again; dressing down and dressing up, or rather dressing for different occasions is what versatile people do.....

Rio and Sao Paulo are too damn big to think a whole lot of Brazilian females to feel this way just because ONE BRAZILIAN FEMALE categorizes black males based on a 2-block area that is KNOWN for P4P. Personally, I would not try to change much of my fashion, habits or approaches from my American characteristics JUST BECAUSE the woman is Brazilian or Trinidadian or anything else. The same verbal things you say to some NYC chick (of the same class, etc) is what you say to some Brazilian chick (of the same class).

So you are going to break out the wardrobe for someone where the ONLY significant difference is the language? "Oh I will holla at some girl on the campus of Fordham University while wearing my Timberlands and she better give me her number in 5 seconds", BUT "I will break out my italian suit for some Brazilian girl from the favela".

I don't get that.

Speak my dude...I TOTALLY AGREE....cats are versatile everyday not just on trips...at least most cats...from the block to the burbs.

No. Blacks often have an internalized racism. So darker women want to date or marry "up", while women who are lighter or white may have no such hang ups (or to the same extent). My friend is a dark skin Af-Am who has lived in Brazil for years now. He actually moved to Sao Paulo because of this phenomena. He gets far greater play from light/whiter Brasilieras than from dark/black ones.

Didn't you say this before? Have you not read this thread concerning the racial hiearchy in Brazil and the whole of South America? Based on what you just wrote its clear that you have not. If you haven't personally been to South America why comment on it? The likelihood of some light skin Latina dating a black man is extremely low. Just sayin!!

This has been discussed here over the years ad nauseum. Theoretically, most chicks in Latin America aren't too keen in fucking Brothers. Actually let me rephrase that, they aren't into fucking Brothers who are in the Darker end of the spectrum. But and this is a big But, the reality on the field isn't so Black and White. You have to allow for individual variation and plain ole dumb luck. It might be harder to get some ass but by no means is it impossible. So I wouldn't be so quick to throw in the white towel before even starting the battle.

As for Brazil like I and many other posters who have actually been there have said. You NEED to at least know basic Portuguese in order to get a shot at non pro girls. There's no way around it. Ignore this very basic advice at your peril. If you still chose to go there without knowing a lick of Portuguese don't come back here bitching and whining that Brazilians hate niggas just cuz you ended up jerking off to the Spice channel the whole 6 days you were in Rio or worse yet you had to jerked off in the hostel bathroom after every body went to sleep. Shit, if you check the archives you will find plenty of reports from White guys who got zero non-pro ass in Brazil so the grass isn't always greener.

In sum, so that the mental masturbation stops already. I am going to keep it really basic.

Black Male(any shade and hair texture)+ Basic Portuguese+Apartment+in shape+Longer than a week+Brazil -thirstyness= WINNING!!
