Many think the delineation between what constitutes marriage or otherwise, is waiting to have sex only until after a priest
says some alleged 'special' words & only after the bride & groom partake of a specific ceremony (IE the western wedding).

Fact is, if you're a Christian, there are no specific Biblical directives, commands or procedures in regards to starting a marriage.

It wasn't until the end of the 15th century that the Church started to require a priest be present to officiate the ceremony and this was actually due to secular pressures - mostly from people wanted to be able to control who their children were marrying.
