Hey there.

I'll say that I'd like to get a job as a bar back, working my way up to a bartender. I only have a GED here in Canada. Does that mean I'm fucked?

The reason I ask is because you would assume that they would prefer an expat with some post-secondary education as opposed to a GED. (I suppose you could lie, but idk if this is something you could get away with).

Use the search function as there's already a couple of threads on this. I got an Oz working holiday visa three years ago, piece of cake, you log onto their website, fill out an online questionnaire and pay something like $400 and you're good to go, your visa is ready within 24 hours. Show up in Australia with your Canadian passport and the piece of paper with your visa code on it and the customs officer stamps your passport and you're able to go looking for a bar job. I can't recall if education matters but if you're over 18 and don't have a criminal record then you should be fine.

I applied for my WHV online, went to the kitchen to get something to eat, came back already had an acceptance letter. It's super easy to get.

Just lie and say you graduated, they won't know. Not sure if it even matters though.

If you want to be a bartender, It would probably be best to do a quick course in Canada before you leave, like a 2-3 day thing. You can do the Australian version of 'Serving it Right' online.

Why goto Australia just to possibly be a bartender? Should prolly work on getting something other then a GED first considering u can only stay a year there so you'll be right back at square one. Not to mention how far and over priced it is.
