Okay, so I'm planning a trip to Europe and was wondering what's the best city for the Winter. I understand European winters are brutal and many people "hibernate" during this time, but is there ANYWHERE in Europe that is decent? Need some advice.

Anywhere other than Europe is not an option.

Also, I was wondering just how bad the Winters get. Are they as brutal as people say compared to say - New York?

I do have a friend of mine who is studying in Bingamton who says all the time, winter there is more harsh than in Europe. If you are looking for to increase your notches, then come to EE, specifically the Baltics or Poland. If it's your first time in Europe, then I would go to central Europe. Prague or Budapest, both are amazing cities.

Poland, baltics, scandinavia. and don't care about the weather, it's plenty of easy girls there, and people still go out despite freezing weather.

It's a rather general question to ask where to go in all of Europe without more information.

In EE, I have visited Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, and Ukraine. Of the four, I would choose Bulgaria, specifically hitting the cities of Veliko Tarnovo (culture, sightseeing) and Sofia (girls). While Bulgaria has its share of dour apartment blocks and other commonalities of the Soviet era, I found its cities the most appealing and having the most idyllic countryside. It seemed to the me the cheapest too. English was the most widely spoken there and the girls were the easiest to open. Bansko (sp?) is supposed to be great for skiing, but I have never been there. At the time I went there (2012), train travel was super cheap. I paid no more than $20 to go from Ruse all the way to Sofia. Hostel Mostel is great place to stay if on a budget; they have branches in each Veliko Tarnovo and Sofia. I noticed there were lots of real estate offices advertising that targeted Brit expats, so hopefully these places have not been ruined or go so expensive.

Europe is not that much worse or better than the Northern U. S. in winter. But the only place on the mainland I can think of with mild, pleasant weather in winter is the southeastern coast of Spain. I don't know, maybe southern France and parts of Italy are ok as well. Cyprus is probably even better. Weatherwise, though, it's hard to beat the Canary Islands, you could set up there and bang tourist sluts all winter long.

I will also be in EE, Estonia to be exact, for around a week or so during winter. I am glad to hear it's a good place to notch up.

I visited Germany, Belgium, and South Holland last February and found the weather to be quite pleasant. Granted I'm from the Midwest so anything above 40 is considered warm during that time of the year.

If you are considering a Hot Spot to get away from it all - but in Europe, like the Canaries - I've been researching.

Las Palmas is the largest city among the islands, with about 400,000. Locals, not tourists, since it is high season there, and much pricier.

One bedrooms rent for $500 and up. "Canary" Spanish is apparently a bit different and even challenging.

There is bus transportation that's affordable, and you can go to the resorts like Puerto Rico towards the South end of the island for weekend diversion and to return to the Anglophone (or Euro-diverse) world for an escape.

Las Palmas warmth, total population, the native lifestyle and affordability finds me interested!

PS-there are a series of Islands to the Canaries. Las Palmas is about half of that Island and some 18% of the total Canaries population.

Europe is a big place. Denmark and south is roughly similar to NYC in winter. Of course winterr temperatures vary, and you may have good luck or bad with an unusually cold or mild winter, or mild/cold days during your stay.
Southern Spain, France, Italy, all of Greece is a very mild winter. Light jacket usually, sometimes shirtsleeve weather in the early afternoon.
How much time would you spend outdoors anyway?
Off season means fewer tourists, cheaper and easier to find lodging (except ski resorts, obviously.)
