The Swedish unemployment insurance system covers 80% of base pay for 15 months if one was employed for at least 18 months.

Unemployment insurance is not mandatory, costs $40 per month and basically everyone with a job is signed up for it because it's stupid not to be.

There's a $8/mo extra fee to extend the 6 month coverage to 15 months, I didn't have that one because I didn't know about it when I first came to the country. I was made redundant once, due to the company being on its way to bankruptcy, and found another job within a week with almost 2x the salary because I work in IT and it's in high demand here. My new contract was to start in 2 months and the insurance system covered 80% of my old base income for those 2 months.

Unemployment Insurance is put in place to cover you until you get your next job.

We all pay for it, when we have a job so the government isn't giving us anything we don't deserve.

In Canada, it is 60% of our salary for 8 months. That amount is capped at a certain amount, so if you were making big money you won't get 60% of that.

Do you get this insurance money regardless of the reason that your past job ended? In Croatia, if you quit or if you have been laid off due to an issue with your work, you get nothing. Otherwise you get 70% for 3 months, reduced to 30% for up to a year if you had been employed there for many years or decades.

No if you quit, then you get nothing.

In the UK, they will pay your rent and give you money.

I am not sure for how long.

You don't get even a fraction of the return on that unemployment money which you pay in taxes.

Most of your tax money is wasted on bureaucracy, giving money to ISIS, and taking care of criminals and degenerates via unlimited welfare, so the idea that you have some kind of silver lining when you get fired isn't even close to a compensation.

Moreover, the employment situation in every European country is terrible, so most people will never touch these unemployment checks because they cannot get a job. The youth unemployment is especially bad.

In Germany they cover 60 % for 1 year. When you are older, I guess over 50 you get it a little longer. After one year you get to the basic welfare. 404 € + rent and health insurance. Thats all.
But when you have two kids and a wife, you can get about 1000 €, more then enough for all the welfare immigrants.

Poverty is simple. Stop voting in politicians that tax businesses out of existence and encourage women to have kids out of wedlock because "they can have it all".

The further the country moves to the left, the poorer it will get. What little we enjoy now is based on out of control spending/borrowing that will come back to hit us like an economic hurricane.

Define poverty dude. No one starves to death in America. It's probably the only country in the world where there are obese "poor" people. When it comes to healthcare, there are plenty of charities. In ER's they don't ask you if you have insurance.

If your idea of poverty is living in a small shit house, not being able to travel the world properly, living paycheck to paycheck, then 80% of Europe is poor too. At least in US people live in bigger houses with proper gardens.

^^ Your answer is to blame politicians, they have always been around and poverty has always exsisted in America. Wouldn't you call spending trillions on Military as being "out of control" spending.

^ Poverty is poverty, why don't you define it. 1 in 7 people are on food stamps in America.

http://www.cnbc.com/id/48898378 (46 million people)

When it comes to healthcare, there are plenty of charities. That is your answer!

http://www.cnsnews.com/news/article/mich...ave-health

In ER, they do ask if you have health insurance. They won't touch you until you show them your health insurance or show you have money to pay.

So Americans don't live paycheck to paycheck! Really.

Asking for health insurance in ER is prohibited by law, very good way to pay a hefty lawsuit to a patient.

A bit off topic but necessary: any of you guys who haven't visited Europe, do it now before it's too late. We never know how soon the collapse will come.

I saw a flyer for tourism in Cologne the other day and chuckle, there aint no fucking way Im gonna visit that place unless I have a minigun with the name of each Muslim engraved on every bullet. But apparently the town used to be a beautiful place to visit. You dont want to say you never get to visit Paris/Tours/Nice/Bordeaux because the migrants ruin it.

Me and the other few RVF here will give ya a warm welcome Smile

Europe has been in a mess for as long as I could remember. I went to Paris 4 years ago, the amount of beggars, homeless people, gypsies were amazing. The only decent part of France for example is the south part. Cannes,Nice,Saint Tropez. They were free from a migrant invasion 4 years ago. I don't know the situation now though. All of those cities had one thing in common, they had right wing mayors.

In Rome there were Indian touts everywhere trying to sell you stuff.

In Germany I really liked Hamburg, but its been 6 years since I saw it, I hope its the same.

No wonder smart people in Europe are relocating to US, South East Asia, and FSU. It's a lost cause really. Those feminist, leftist women are not worth fighting for. If you find a gem there, marry her, and take her to Thailand.
French people are amazing though, they are so friendly, funny, and nice people to have a beer with. But African and Jihadi immigration has pretty much messed up their country.

That's 19 trillion dollars. A million is 1,000,000 and a trillion is a million of a million, or 1 with 12 zeros after it (1,000,000,000,000).

In a sane country we'd be rioting in the fucking streets over that sum of money. That's $60,000 for every man, woman, and child in America. Considering the fact that, for every 10 working Americans there are 3 jobs that pay over $30,000 a year, that number does not look good at all.

You might not like America, hey I'm not a big fan of it as well. But if you let your political ideology or personal experiences cloud the fact that US is the undisputed superpower, you will always make emotional decisions in life which will lead you to make bad choices, lose money.

19 trillion US dollars of debt? The country borrows money with its own currency. That is as hardcore as it gets. My dad had a lot of commie friends during his college years, it was in the 80s, times when Soviet Union was still up and running. Now those same people who were commies are working for American companies.

Good riddance.

Don't let your political ideology cloud your judgement.

19 Trillion is insane.

I wonder if it would have been better not to have spent 22 trillion on poverty, especially since it hasn't solved a damn thing, like most government programs. Don't see many angry at this.

In Sweden if you quit yourself, the insurance checks start coming in after 3 months at a very low cap. You're gonna be slumming it for sure.

If you're on a permanent contract you simply can't get laid off due to your work performance, it's either the company having to downsize or your criminal activity at the workplace. In which case it kicks in after 7 days at 80% like I described.

Edit- just remembered another reason why Sweden sucks: If you're on a permanent contract, you can't get fired unless there are extreme circumstances, and as a result of this, the service industry SUCKS, wherever you go it's understaffed because (a) high taxes and the worker biased labor law makes hiring for small businesses extremely risky since they're going to be paying the worker out of their asses if they ever need to downsize so this leads to (b) everyone half-assing everything since they know they will sit on their jobs for life as long as they show up on time.

The Swedes of course sugar coat this by calling it "lagom" work, which translates to "neither too much nor too little". I'm not a man for sugarcoating, nor do I have any filters so I directly call it half-assing. But of course none of these apply if you're working illegally at a kebab joint, in which case you're probably claiming unemployment while slinging dirty plates 16 hours a day getting paid in tax free cold hard cash and taking out your frustration by grabbing teenage chicks asses on the subway.

This social democratic utopia is so fucking flawed, it takes an idiot to not see it. I stopped discussing politics with Swedes altogether.

Remember kids: Large governments are bad, and the Swedish government is extra large. So now you know, and knowing is half the battle
