I thought Diesel did a respectable job trying to turn from action star into character actor in 'Find Me Guilty' - something Lumet succeeded at before by casting Sean Connery in 'The Offence' in '72.

Also, interesting to note: with its harsh financial failure in 2006 Diesel mentally checked out and never tried again. He took off 2007 completely, made a poorly-received, savagely-edited science fiction film in 2008, then from 2009 to now, made four 'Fast and The Furious' sequels; attempted to revive his 'Pitch Black' character, and did a voiceover part for 'Guardians of the Galaxy'.

This is the career of a guy simply working to feed his family, not a guy with any interest in the power machinations or art aspirations of Hollywood. I wonder what he discovered? What was the realisation that made him disconnect?

This goes back to my observation about Tom Hardy in the Movie Club thread: that dude seems deeply-unhappy and is crying out in his interviews to discover his tribe.

Yes and I've seen this many times before (outside rvf). Some douche takes a celeb pic, photoshops him or her to look like crap, and the internet is gloating, people feel better about themselves since a celeb fell off etc etc.

If you want celeb gossip that's more credible, check tmz, they're strict about the reliability of what they publish, and are often quoted by the major news venues (cnn et al).

Rule of thumb if it's 'big' celeb news or a juicy celeb pic but it's not on tmz, it's fake. "tmz or it didn't happen".

He's a celebrity and has the dosh to go from that body to slim, easily and without too much pain. If you can consistently pay enough personal trainers and dietists, you don't have to worry that much about your body. And this is with a "natural" lifestyle, not on supplements like steroids. You can gain massive amounts of weight and loose it and all you need is time and dedication. Just look at transformation pictures of, for example, Christian Bale and Forest Whitaker which gained-lost-gained massive amounts of fat and muscle. Absolutely a non-issue for Vin Diesel.
