I want to talk about Christian Evangelists who travel to different college campuses and preach, usually in a common outside area and almost always attracting a large crowd of students.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, this may ring a bell:



I don't know how common these guys are outside of the states, but I know that almost every public university here sees them at least once a year. On my campus, they come usually around this time and preach in front of the library, which is the dead-center of campus and draws the most traffic. Predictably, this draws a giant crowd of anti-protesters that are made up mostly of students walking to or from class.

This is my third year of classes, and so far I've seen both Brother Jed and Jesse Morrell, among a couple others. I've never bothered to stop and listen to their preaching as I don't want to get involved or waste my time. But while passing by, the obvious is clear: Crowds of students are willing to give up minutes, even hours of their day standing around counter-protesting them because they disagree with their world view. And most of the students who try to impress everyone by talking back to the preachers do it in a cringe-worthy and embarrassing way. I used to think this was brave, but lately I think it's pathetic. The crowds are mostly made up of SJWs, which shouldn't be to anyone's surprise since the main topic people like Jed and Morrell usually preach on is homosexuality.

But I also don't agree with everything the preachers say. A lot of it is interpretation bullshit like "You're going to hell if you watch porn/have premarital sex/listen to rap/get drunk." It's hard for me to pick a side here, so I find myself just saying "neither". From what I've seen, the preachers are extremist betas and the anti-protesters are ugly SJWs and effeminate losers.

When I was on campus I just ignored them.

They're attention whoring just like the fems.

Anyone who tries to debate them is pissing in the wind, I'm not there to debate, I'm there to study and gtfo off campus.

It's fine that they have the balls to challenge everyone, but doing that on a typical liberal campus ? Good luck.

Happens all the time. Once made out with a girl in front of one to rounds of applause. Nothing to out of the ordinary. We just turn it into a game. We blasted porn another time. Then turned it into a dance party. They are essentially the Westboro Baptist Church, and don't think ignoring them helps. They always start yelling at us telling us we're going to hell.

It's probably one of the few times I stand with the general consensus against them.

I agree too that they should just be ignored and left alone.

It's funny that I hear most people on my campus saying that same thing, and yet I still see crowds of SJWs surround the prechers when they come to town. Why is that? I think the reason why someone like myself and you others have the power to ignore these extremists vs why SJWs don't is because of the leftist environment of campuses. We're spoon-fed every day how special we are, and the minute someone says otherwise it turns many of these students into a hysterical mess, unable to get over the fact that people in this world exist who disagree with them.

I ignored them, but it was funny to watch them trigger feminists and others with graphic abortion pictures.

I remember one time they had a massive banner with a horrific photo of an aborted child. It was pretty hard to look at, but people need to be alerted to the reality of these things rather accept the sanitized media versions. If it doesn't change their mind after seeing them, so be it. But it's the disinformed and the misinformed who need to be reached. Disturbing images of reality are an effective way of shattering self-delusions, or at least cracking them and creating cognitive dissonance in our enemies and the willfully ignorant who try to avoid the truth.

If people had seen disgusting images of degenerate homosexual behavior like the kind of stuff that goes on at their parades I don't think it would've gotten nearly as bad as it has.

Maybe we should find pictures of cats eating an old spinster's rotten corpse and protest feminism with it.

Street preachers on campus have always been fascinating to me. If these guys were talking about how to get a credit card...would such large crowds gather? If it was a homeless man ranting about aliens...would such large crowds gather? Why do so many people just stop and listen? Or why does someone talking about the bible enrage people so much that they are driven to violence, emotional outbursts etc?

Not all, but a lot of them don't want to be judged for their behavior by anyone and hate feeling guilty. Coddled special snowflakes hate being criticized and don't know how to respond to someone unrelentingly attacking their basic beliefs (the secular religion of SJWism in a lot these cases) with anything but sputtering impotent rage or "ironic" stupid mockery.

These guys are morons (if they’re not trolling) – they’re probably descended from Muslim west African slaves. I don’t see what their connection is to Jews. It would be interesting if they tried this shit on a Falasha (Ethiopian Jew). They're trying to win the victim Olympics by comparing slavery to the holocaust.

We never had these evangelical preachers when I was doing my undergrad in London. We had Muslims instead, but most people ignored them too.

I love these guys! Activism on the campus near me is dead dead dead. Except for take back the night attention whoring, what was once an active, politically aware campus is devoid of energy or character.

A lot of the preachers who show up here are older men, and I think, Jesus Christ, wasn't it supposed to be the young people upsetting the staid set-in-their-ways oldsters?
The students act like school marms, full of bluster and high dudgeon. Tons of anger and very little to say in a meaningful way.

At least these dudes stir things up. I don't care if they are deluded or beta or whatever. They are the only ones trying to engage anyone else in a meaningful debate. At a campus. A few years ago this would be unheard of. That the only one engaging in intellectual debate would be an aging evangelical!

I think this was posted in another thread before, but it is definitely germane to this one.

In the video, the first police officer to approach the preacher doesn't even know the laws himself, he is actually spouting SJW talking points, without knowing the law, accusing him of "Hitler stuff," hah, telling him to calm down. He has to go get his sergeant to come over, and his sergeant says free speech is fine.

Then those officers leave, and a female cop stays. Then the students start trashing his signs, and the female cop does nothing.

Without guys like this, you wouldn't really have video evidence of how crazy colleges have become.

Because none of these examples are telling them to stop being such fucking degenerates. I love these situations, I really do. Both feminists and crazy baptist preachers are profoundly satisfying to troll; so when they're trolling the fuck out of each other... it's popcorn time.

I remember some of these very guys preaching every year on campus.
It's real easy to laugh or get miffed when getting sermonized by someone who doesn't know you.
Street preachers exist to benefit their own ego through moral grandstanding. You never see them quietly helping an actual poor soul in need. Deeds, not words, etc. etc.

Or, take the concept even further: If someone wanted to turn young people off to Christianity, how more effectively could it be done than by these guys?

I have a lot of respect for these guys, even if I do sort of question their tactics and motivations. Street preaching doesn't seem to be a very effective way of converting people, and I get the impression that a lot of the guys doing it get a sort of thrill from it and/or do it because they enjoy feeling superior and talking down to people. But many are quite sincere and earnest, with pure motivations. Street preaching takes a lot of balls in this day and age. How many men on this forum would be willing go to to a liberal college campus and stand around with a megaphone railing against SJWs and feminism? Are you willing to take that kind of stand for your beliefs? These guys are.

And by the way, this style of preaching is nothing new. It's actually closer to the norm from a Biblical/historical perspective. It's the reason that the Jews killed most of their prophets and why 11/12 disciples were martyred: people really, really don't like being reminded of their sins and the consequences that follow (Hell). They didn't like it back then, and they don't like it now. But that doesn't negate the truth of the message. The problem has never been the preacher or the message. The problem has always been within those hearing it and rejecting it.

That's the reason that people have such a strong, visceral negative reaction to Christian street preachers. They don't like being reminded of their sin. They don't like the idea of being judged. They don't like the idea that there are consequences for their choices. They just want to be left alone to do the things they want to do. It has always been such. This is simply the inevitable reaction that sinful people have to the truth.
