Look don't pretend it's unimagineable for you why people would be fascinated in watching tragedies unfold. I'm sure you've seen some street fights on youtube/worldstarhiphop. Or Osama's capture. Or Saddam's execution. Or some WW2 documentaries. Or the recent video of journalists getting shot by the gay black guy.

Point is, don't pull out the holier than thou routine on this shit. No one said he was gleefully celebrating it.

Fascinated (the word you used) and excited (the word he used) are two very different concepts. Perhaps you didn't realise?

There is something exciting and highly entertaining in watching a tragedy unfold, in this case in REAL time. It also why the Euro migrant thread is already 80 pages long. We humans, even though we may not ever admit it, are fascinated by these sorts of occasional catastrophes that malign our species.

I know it goes against the traditional thought process of "tragedy = endless mourning". I don't believe people who say they are "shocked" and feel "utter despair" at such things.
