I doubt Putin drinks, instead he does a lot of sports like Judo and outdoors activeity and of course the youthfull feminine energy of much younger women. It's not really hard to see why Putin and Trump like each other, they're probably quite similar in lifestyles when you discount the superficial.

1)Putin is incredibly smart.
2)Putin really is an alpha male.
3)Putin has more influence and knowhow by miles.

Sometimes I think Syria is an experiment to actually carry out what Thomas Hobbes called 'the war of all against all'.

So let's see now, at this stage we have;

1. Rebels in the north: (Jaysh al Fatah backed by Gulf) and Fatah Haleb (also extreme Sunni Islamists), backed by Turkey and US vs Govt. (backed by Russian and Iran)

2. South: (Southern Front, backed by Jordan and US) against Govt. Occasional Israeli intervention to bomb regime and Hezbollah. US and Jordan backing 'New Syrian Army' in the desert south, who were formed to fight ISIS. They are not doing a great job of it so far.

3. Damascus: rebels Jaysh al Islam, (backed by Saudi) against Govt. Some Jaysh al Islam and other rebels against ISIS who are trying to muscle in on Yarmouk.

4. Border with Lebanon/Qalamoun mountains: Rebels (ISIS and al Nusra) against Govt. and Hezbollah + Christian allies with occasional rebels vs Lebanese Army.

5. Homs & Deir Ezzor: ISIS vs Govt. in Homs province and Deir Ezzor and part of Aleppo province.

Other theatres
6. ISIS vs rebels (backed by Turkey and US) in North Aleppo around Azzaz.

7. Kurds (PYD/YPG/SDF, backed by US) vs ISIS, fighting at the moment mainly around Jarablus, N Aleppo.

8. Kurds YPG/SDF vs rebels in Aleppo city where Kurds are allied with regime and in Afrin, where rebels are backed by Turkey fighting over the town of Marea.

9. Kurds vs Govt. and Christian militias in Hasakah and Qamishli city.

10. Rebels vs Rebels, constant small scale disputes between the myriad rebel groups that are settled by force.

Everytime I read something new about the Syrian war I feel that it should have ended but for some powerful forces on both sides.

And to garner sympathy we now have more children on news articles over here in the west. Funny how they never did the same for dead children who got flattened by that truck killer.
