@ Vicious I am by no means an expert on brasil but I lived there for 6 months. Not knowing portuguese I would recommend splitting your vacation time between Sao Paulo and Rio. In Sao Paulo you can find a good amount of girls that speak decent English. I think the nightlife in Sao Paulo shits on Rio's nightlife but Rio is an amazing place you need to visit at least once.

I've met a good amount of girls in Rio that speak decent English too.(I only spent 2 weeks in Rio) If you decide to go to brasil I would recommend studying some portuguese before you go. You can probably pick up a little to be able to explain where you are from and the basic greetings and survival things.

There seems to be mixed reviews about the Paulistana chickas on here, I didn't find them stuck up at all. Quite the opposite, really friendly, all spoke great English, happy to chat / hook up with a gringo, none of this arrogance or looking down on your bullshit, no questions about money, status job, just good, fun girls.

With all due respect I have to disagree with Tony here. The only thing SP has to do with Brazil is that they speak the same language. What I mean by this is that it's a sprawling first world metropolis, it's expensive, and there's nothing exotic about it. Yes, the girls are friendly there but no more so than a lot of other major world cities. I'm not putting SP down cuz it's a great city, but definitely not for your first time in Brazil. You might as well go to Miami like Mixx said... it's cheaper and more exotic that SP.

Rio is a must for your first time. It's beautiful, rich, poor, classy, seedy, and you can break your neck looking at the women in Ipanema. The partying in Lapa ranks up there with the best party spots in the world. I'd spend 3 or 4 days in Rio your first time here.
If you like the second tier aspect look into Fortaleza or Recife. Use them as a base and go to Jericoacoara from Fortaleza or Porto das Galinhas from Recife. If money is no object, go to Fernando de Noronha, one of the most beautiful places on earth. In all of these places you will meet enough beautiful, exotic, and nice women to suit your tastes. If you can't manage to pull one because of the language barrier, there's p4p everywhere, and it's not frowned upon here... it's part of the culture.

Also, don't worry too much about the language barrier here. Brazilian people are almost always helpful and patient, and love to use sign language. Just don't use the OK sign... that means go take it up the ass!

@Brazmerican I can agree with you about Sao Paulo but I like the city and I enjoy big cities. I would recommend to go there for just a couple days to see the city. It's probably cheaper to fly into Guarulhos and you can either take a one hour flight or less to Rio or take a 6 hour bus ride and see some of the countryside in brasil. Go to the mercado municipal, see the centro, Sao Bento, Rua Augusta at night, Liberdade(Japanese district) and maybe go to a Corinthians game. Also go to a club and enjoy the nightlife.

But I think for a first trip to brasil you should spend the majority of your time in Rio. Rio has a stunning setting and sick beaches. Also the Lapa street party and going to the samba clubs around Lapa are really cool.

I recommendd everyone goes to SP when visiting Brazil, gorgeous women and a great nightlife, probably one of the best in the world and it truely goes on 24/7. Such a variety of people and scenes too.

I'm just trying to boil it down to the lowest common denominator for people who have never been to Brazil. Most people around the world have this exotic image in their mind about what this country is about, whether it be Carnaval, the Amazon rainforest, or sexy women in string bikinis. The message I'm trying to get across is that Sao Paulo doesn't even come close to any of these expectations. To really "feel" Brazil you need to get out to the smaller places where you can get a real taste of the way Brazilians approach life, which is radically different from our approach and one of the most memorable experiences, in my opinion, that you can take from here. There are so many other second and third tier cities and towns where you can actually sip your coconuts or caipirinhas on the beach, have fun with the women in string bikinis, then dance the night away in clubs right on the beach. This isn't what only tourists do like in other countries... in fact you'll be one of the few non-Brazilians there in most cases. I'm not selling anything, I just like turning people on to this amazing country in a way that often exceeds their original expectations.

I think english is spoken by a good amount of locals but honestly, in the south I would recomend the first weeks in a hostel /pousada/ camping site to build social circle and make male friends.Limiting yourself to cold approaches in English will seriously diminish your experience and pick-up probability pool.

Yes Chocolate lol....,not particularly Mokay,but I was going mostly to High-end clubs/bars due to my social circle at work(I was lazy to go out solo for a while).But the more time goes by,the less I fell motivated to stand this stuck up/posh vibe.Right now I'm more interested in alternative/chilled spots

Gringo,I agree with you,there are plenty of friendly people in SP.But it is a huge city and like any other big metropolitan area you will find different attitude & people in different places.

I wouldn't mind with the language barrier.Like Brazmerican said Brazilians generally are very open and helpful,they will use sign language and try to communicate with you somehow.But for 2nd,3rd tier cities I want to reinforce the importance of male friends/social circle.Stay the first week in a Hostel/Pousada(small/familiar hotel) to make friends,and then relocate.Get along with other travellers if you were unable to meet locals.
Anyway,if look like the Cliche Swedish guy (tall & blue eyed) in some places I bet that you won't need to say a word to swoop lol

Spot on Braz,you are a great connoisseur of the Brazilian culture.SP is a great city if you like urban/cosmopolitan spots,but in my opinion its not the "real" Brazil.

Southern Bahia is great for this. Morro do Sao Paulo, Barra Grande, Itacare, Itaunas, Cumuruxatiba, Caraiva. Further north, Canoa Quebrada, Porto das Galinhas, Jericoacoara, Praia do Futuro. All 3rd tier places, all fit the bill. Maceio is second tier but if you venture out of the city you'll also find the more exotic spots. I'm personally not a fan of Porto Seguro... a little too commercialized. The point is that it's a lifestyle here and not a "canned" experience for the tourists. It's everywhere in Brazil and you need to get out of the cities to find it. Even in the interior of the country there's always a waterfall or river that's the go-to spot for the locals. The further you get away from the cities, the "friendlier" the women are.

Why bother spending more money for bitchier women?

The only argument, possibly, is that prettier women are more easily found in such places. Nevertheless, if you look hard enough, you can also find them elsewhere.

And I also have this non-verified intuition that women on high-end trendy places are less DTF then "mortals" elsewhere... "Why sex if we can have ego-boosts instead?" kinda attitude, or so it seems.

I'll stick to the alternative scene here in Rio, thanks...

There's good looking girls in all the clubs I mentioned in SP and none are high end, they can be expensive though just because SP is expensive in general. I paid silly money to get into D-Edge a couple times on a Monday night but it was packed, loads of girls, great night.
