^ Blaster, in regards to American film critics about Aquaman, the one thing about American male film critics (especially the Internet pundit type) is they're a bunch of bought and paid for purist fanboys whose mind were already made up. They're of the MovieBob and Devin Faraci type. They know what to say to make fans go nuts and agree with them on everything. They're beta soyboys who have ZERO talent in filmmaking.

They've created a toxic culture for creativity and wonders why Hollywood doesn't try anything new and they'll write autistic rants on why people are stupid for liking certain franchises and everything else should fail.

You can see it in places like Red Letter Media, Collider, Cracked, Birth.Movies.Death, etc...

Rian Roundhead Johnson says that he does not mind retconning his shitty movie. JarJar might really change that crap. But at this stage - who cares?

Lucasfilm employees engage in doxxing and contacting of employers of The Last Jedi critics.

This story does not get enough attention - if real damage was taken, then this is beginning to become a criminal offense. Imagine that Lucasfilm employees see a comment of yours and then try to destroy your life, get you fired. Of course it's insane, but some companies may budge and not give you a job since they call this criticism "online harrassment, anti-LGBTQ, racist behavior".

Supporting any of that crap should make everyone feel ashamed. They are scum of the world. "People who did not like the progressive Last Jedi should be executed!"

I agree that most movie reviewers are failed filmmakers themselves (though how many decent people in the modern age would want to be involved in Hellywood any way?)

I do think they play a shadow of who they are a lot of the time, however sometimes like right here RLM are bemused and go after the genuine consumerist manchild crowd. They do a lot of this pointed towards Collider and others, their Nerd Crew shilling schtick was getting so much traction in the Collider comments and across the web that their guilty hosts were losing the rag being reminded of it constantly. This was all prior to the Last Jedi.

The collider host at the end of this one, says it all:

RE: Star Wars does not need lead "strong" females characters
But here's the thing with all this, guys. And this is something I only just realised, having accepted that Star Wars has gone shit and is no longer a cultural repository of anything good, uplifting, or meaningful to tell kids about these days.

Paying attention is helping the enemy.
Watching parodies of TLJ is helping the enemy.
Paying attention to RLM and Collider fighting each other is helping the enemy.
You are still giving them views. These fuckers don't actually care whether you actually support them or not, they only care that you watch. That you pay attention. And the easiest way to make people pay attention is to start a fight. RLM and Collider will not be affected by dissing each other in the slightest; au contraire, they'll be pleased because they get more views.

Even that guy in Simeon_Strangelight's post above. Take a look at that fat fucker. It's 10:20 pm and he is literally in his basement with framed copies of the poster from JFK. And he then spends forty fucking minutes talking about how Lucasfilm employees are doxxing parody accounts on Twitter. And he starts the video off by announcing he's grooming his beard.

For fucking real? This is what get people passionate enough to make long videos to one another about? Not the state of the US's education system, or its infrastructure, or its legal system?

Fuck me, if you're going to use up big chunks of your life fighting with people, let it be fighting real evil. Because the only real way to fight this shit is simply to not pay it attention. And I mean that in both the literal and metaphorical senses. Don't see the film, don't go looking for videos verifying your view that it's shit any more than you'd go looking for videos verifying that it's a great movie.

I am more convinced than ever that the only way to defeat this is to simply ignore it. Don't see it, don't talk about it, make people uncomfortable by only saying "I didn't see it and don't want to" when people bring the shit movies up in conversation. The only way you defeat this is the way an old movie told us to defeat those that depend on our beliefs for their survival:

And there is part of Merlin's monologue as he defeats Mab that most makes me sad because it most resonates with me when it comes to Star Wars:

I was trying to smile, but it was the smile of desolation. Inside I only felt the pity and the terror and the waste of it all.

Remissas, discite, vivet.

RE: Star Wars does not need lead "strong" females characters
< I think that you are a bit overshooting this.

The "fat fuck" above is Ethan van Sciver and is a former DC-comics artist who left the industry because it is going to shit - DC less than Marvel, but the rot is there.

He began to create his Youtube channel as a marketing plot device and it's mostly about Star Wars/Marvel movies and other pop-culture, because comics is hardly a big market. But he actually made hundreds of thousands selling his own comics.
His work:

What else would you do when you embarked on a then good career in the 1990s and the sheisters totally blew up your industry (even if it would naturally go down in sales)?

What you are witnessing with some of those Republican-leaning Trump-supporting creators is the establishment of a counter-culture to the current marxist one. He and others are mythos-content creators.

Other guys - yes - they may just be commentators trying to make a living off Youtube, but Ethan is funny and charming and is on the right side of the culture war even if he is more of a Republican normie to a great degree.

So you cannot really say that you stop creating, because the vacuum either of religion or a nation's ancient myths and fiction have to be filled with something. That is unless you become a stone-age culture that eliminates everything and reverts to the mere study of the Quran - and even in the most rural Afghanistan - they get their own expression of what to do in their free time by dressing up boys in female garb and fucking them in some shed, because human nature does something.

And I might add - most who listen to that guy have stayed away from the Star Wars brand and other toxic venues of Hollywood as he reaches normies and former fans.

Plus - there are precious few ways for content creators to promote their products in our times - a Youtube channel is actually a good way to do it since anyone on the right lacks the mainstream support.

Some of them are. Some of them aren't.

That said, I think when a critic's collective panning of a film is longer than the film itself then he has to start asking himself some real questions.

The public will judge a man by what he lifts, but those close to him will judge him by what he carries.

RE: Star Wars does not need lead "strong" females characters
We might hope that the removal of these childish things - Star Wars and Marvel - will serve as an impetus for some of these man-children to start taking up the responsibilities of adulthood.

To an extent this is what happened to me; first SWe1 was a disappointment, but then I gave SWe2 a chance, since the marketing addressed the fact that nobody liked the first. It was even more disappointing than the first. Upon leaving the theater, I took a step back in my mind - what is all of this Star Wars stuff, anyway? I loved it as a kid - swashbuckling mixed with moral philosophy - but let's be frank: it's all pretty basic stuff. The Jedi philosophy can be boiled down to half a page of quotations, and the setting was completely silly. It's just a movie. And running about obsessing over it is the exact opposite of the feelings it inspired in me as a young man.

It was time to put the childish stories down, and go do the sort of things I dreamed about when I was young. We'll see how many people take advantage of this revelation - that Marvel Cinematic and Star Wars are nothing but corporate IP designed to A) make money, and B) push their ridiculous agenda. They're not moral philosophies. They're not real. They're not even realistic. They're silly children's stories being used to exploit a juvenile population.

The worst part is they agonize over Bree Larson ruining marvel films and other such things, then see the fucking movie anyway. I stopped giving Hollywood sodomite rapists and pedophiles ANY money a long time ago.

after I watched the last Avengers movie I walked out of the theater feeling a little embarrassed lol. I enjoyed it but there was this nagging voice in my head saying “Dude how old are you?!” It’s similar to the feeling you have after you jerk off.

RE: Star Wars does not need lead "strong" females characters
You have to understand that the modern Superheroes are just akin to the old sagas - what excuse did the Greeks and Romans have for listening to the stories when many of them married at ages 18-22 and were warriors?

Among the Goths and future Germans you had the Siegfried sagas - the written versions were just captured old lores. The Skandinavians had the Norse Gods and semi-mortals.

Even the Superman character was strange as he encompassed the invulnerable super-feeling of wanting to look up to something incredibly powerful. He came about during the brutal times of WWI and WWII where men were dying like flies and all-destructive Atomic warfare was a real threat to the people.

Obsessing over it is not healthy for sure, but know that all our ancestors had those myths as well.

And the same goes for the Japanese and other tribes:

They had stories of their own super-powerful Gods as well as of inhumanely strong brave Ronin and even blind Samurai.

You won't get that out of our deeply rooted hero-thinking. Rambo is just a story of the ancient warrior myth just as Superman is the Hercules of old.

By that measure - all of humanity is a bunch of incel-cunts.

^ Like Aurini stated, there is nothing inherently wrong with these fairy tales but they are simplistic and meant for children. As you grow older, you're supposed to move on to more complex material, whether it's Kant or Solzhenitsyn or whoever.

Syberpunk, I find it ironic that Red Letter Media is complaining about Star Wars not being fun when they were pretty much part of the driving force that brought Star Wars to what it is today.

"Star Wars is back" they said after the Farce Awakens.
"Kylo and Rey were both confused - of course she won - that was logical"

All this prequel hate was simply top-down approved slander.

Lucas did not destroy the Star Wars lore, the prequels still had the internal logic intact, powered-up Jedi and the spirit was in the right place. Plus - all the toys sold like crazy and the world felt larger than ever.

Now the fuckers complained about "practical effects" and all you got was a 2 mio. $ green-milk-tits-monster, a complete copy of the first movie, a Mary Sue, Emo-Darthling Kylo, a stupid world that does not make any sense at all etc.

People hated uselessly on George Lucas because the media chimed in on it willingly - he was one of the last independent movie franchise owners. Yes - he had some stupid ideas, but all of the prequels had fantastic moments in it even if his attempt of a regal dialogue was sometimes stilted. Yes - the guys who wrote Force Unleashed or other Star Wars games would have done a far better job, but so what?

The entire luster was still there. Now the corporate assholes have taken over and killed it in the first movie, but most people did not realize it. The Last Jedi was only corpse fucking and it was only then that they realized that the franchise was dead. But it was felled in the first movie already.

And mark my words - it will not return - those fuckers are uncapable of not putting in a shit-ton of propaganda - plus they have destroyed the crap. All the prequel-haters' statements of "no politics/ world-building in it", "practical effects = small world" and other shit on top of SJW points will continue to destroy the franchise more.

Most people are dumb motherfuckers who don't even know exactly why a franchise works, why they complain about the prequels, but still buy all the toys and merchandise. They did not realize that a few stupid lines and even characters don't ruin the movie completely. I experienced personally the prequels all without any social media, never even read any of the criticism and the movies were fine to me. Sure - I was more a NPC normie, but one who did not read any of their media - and none of the social media about it. But I did saw a lot of self-made movies about many prequel characters like Darth Maul.

I really think that Lucas lacked someone in his environment who could openly assuage his fears, tell him that he could do another set of great movies. His heart was in the right place, but he would need to let go of the process, but give just his input if he liked. He did that with the Force Unleashed game where he just pressed on key story points like a love interest and other things.

Lucasarts could have put out a movie every year just like Disney intended - before they murdered the franchise to thundering applause and a 2 bio. $ boxoffice. And now they are going to do the same with the Marvel movies, only that they don't have corporate/social media/questionnaire approved models where the cogs can say: "The fans did not like politics and too much world-building, so let's give them nothing. They said that there was too much CGI in it, so make it small - a few hobbit-hills on the studio will be fine for the "Rebellion". They liked the old Han Solo, so just give the fuckers the old Han Back - just 40 years older with a removed character arc and none the wiser."

I hated the first Farce Awakens and even re-watching the prequels won't get that back. And you know why? Because the prequels all had grand world-building, no propaganda, a fantastic world in it. Of course it was a bit cheesy at times, but the new movies are 100 times the shit, don't make any sense at all set in a tiny tiny galaxy very close nearby because the SJW-infestation is deep in their assholes.

After Episode IX, I believe the whole thing is being put on ice for a while. Pretty shocking.

Poor John Williams was really uninspired in the new films by the material, the music also isn't as brassy, full sounding because they lack the London Symphony Orchestra and because of his advanced age its all done in Los Angeles.

The whole "everybody has a say" has killed filmmaking and story arts in general, and you're right and I can see why filmmakers shy away from doing anything mildly original or consistent with the original universe from which it spawned, because of you do, it'll bomb like Blade Runner 2049.

You're right Simeon, before social media took off you might see a trailer in the cinema or a week before hand find out a film is coming out soon and you'd go see it and either you liked or were "meh" on it. You'd have time to mull over it and your opinion would really be your own. I've often heard said among directors that a excellent film is only 3 really great scenes linked together with a bunch of decent ones between.

If you didn't like sci-fi, it was because it was "not my thing". It existed and lived in a short time (and a long time if were a organic sensation) not YEARS of preparation and time were spent prepping and pandering to the public, the prepping was only for the film.

For the majority of the time, the films were made in private imagined by a small group, basically unnoticed and there was little to no contact with the world during it. There were few avenues to tout horn on politics. Just because you can say something doesn't mean you should say it.

Do you think Tolkien was going around consulting the plebs on fan service or cameos for Return of the King from the Fellowship of the Ring?

Good luck getting something like this in popular cinema now!

You couldn't do this if you were a hack:

Scenes I like:

Of course it looks very beautiful technically (what film from the last decade doesn't) they even got your original trilogy actors doing voice overs and great music AGAIN, just like how they cocked teased people with every other film trailer the last few years to get them into the cinema.

Not this time, not this one.

Palpatine back? that's worse then the time they refused to have Sephiroth stay dead after Final Fantasy VII and resurrect him for its rather shit film sequel. Death should have meaning.

Hah! Love that title. So that pretty much confirms my original theory: that Luke, being the evil White male that he is, fathered a bastard, and this is what led to the New Order rising. And that bastard is Rey.

Yeah, tough to take a franchise seriously when its akin to a kid in a tug of war between to bitter divorced parents... :

If all they can come up with for a sizzle reel is Rey basically running like Wile E Coyote running through the air while falling off a cliff, Billy Dee Williams looking fucking fat and even more fucking old, and a deeply unconvincing CGI matte landscape, then it doesn't portend well at all.

Looks shite. Will be shite. Won't be seeing anyway.

When I was a kid I didn't realize why people hated the prequels so much, but after this current crop of SW movies, I totally get it. Although I maintain that despite their shortcomings (young Anakin's acting, Jar Jar, etc.) the prequels at least kept the universe congruent and brought some cool stuff to the table (podracing, Darth Maul, Jango Fett, Darth Vader backstory, etc.) The bastardization of the franchise with these Disney SW movies is magnitudes worse than the prequels were.

There's a woman with a laser sword on the ground. Instead of shooting her from thousands of feet up, I'll fly a few feet off the ground in literally the only move she can defend against.

When you sacrifice a logical plot for a cool visual, you've already lost.
