"It's not like in France, where you can have a glass of champagne during your pregnancy, limit the time you breastfeed and go back to work and adult life three months after giving birth," Vinken said, contrasting Germany with its far more fecund neighbour.

A mother who returns to the office without taking maternity leave for a year -- or often three -- opens herself up to being branded a "Rabenmutter" (raven mother) -- women who dump their kids in childcare so they can pursue their personal goals.

The political discourse has evolved since Angela Merkel took power a decade ago, ushering in new policies targeting the low birth rate including expanding nursery spots and creating incentives for fathers to take parental leave.

But cultural change has been slower in coming, with the top-selling Bild daily railing as recently as last summer against women who "pursue careers, wear trouser suits, drink smoothies and work out".

The male columnist was not finished: "They look like men. They are not mothers. They no longer wake up at night when their child is afraid of thunder and lightning."

More Africans are going un-reported from the African coast I believe. Reading reports stating how the Italian coastguard rescued up to 5000 yesterday and 4500 the other week in one day. These are just two separate days in two weeks.

The same report then goes on to say 66,000 Africans have been rescued off the Libyan coast and taken to Italy. That number is grossly under estimated surely. Almost 10,000 illegal chancers in just 2 days and its only 66k for this year?

For some of these "refugees" it will be a challenge to keep them from pooping in the sink and drinking water from the toilet. The thought of them working in a respectable blue collar factory position doing some machine work is simply laughable.

White collar training is a pipe dream. Maybe .01% will be able to work in that environment without raping the secretary or fondling random women in the hallway.

It would take years of acculturation and then training to unfuck their primitive mindsets. They were born and raised in a savage society full of death and backwards religious practices.

The manpower point is also nonsense when companies already did confess they want to increase productivity with the existing employee and not hire new ones. Even more with the internet of things and the digital automation in production and offices, 18 to 40 % of jobs should be redundant. The remaining ones require higher skills then ship some stones from A to B or put some parts together in a factory. The low skilled jobs are already outsources and the Germans with no jobs mainly those with low qualification.

Yes, that exactly is the cognitive dissonance I would expect from modern Germans. Embracing millions of uneducated Muslim migrants with IQs 15 to 20 points below that of the native population? I plan to move and learn spanish since a few months. My personal situation is a little bit tricky at the moment so no big savings possible and a personal business did not run how I wished it would. Beside that I'm in bavaria in a small town area, the impacts of all this will reach me very late. I gave myself a 5 year exit plan.

Hm… interesting. That’s how you see Germans from inside?

From outside I see that legendary precision and punctuality that actually made the nation and the country. I learned with east Germans in USSR, I worked with American Germans here in US, heck … even Jews that came here from Germany in 1880s – 5 generations later they all retained that special character trait of discipline and punctuality. Yes, for me it’s crazy, but that’s how Germans are. And I respect traditions.

We're not letting people resettle on Australian owned islands. We're pissing them off to shithole nations like PNG and Cambodia at considerable expense because our relatively sane government sees it as an investment in not suffering terrorist welfare parasites and furthermore dissuading future terrorist welfare parasite from trying to come here.

p.s. I read the article. He is correct about returning boats to their country of origin, but lamentably it cannot be done in numbers great enough to have effect, nor without violating Libyan waters, and the boats will simply head back as soon as the Frontex vessel leaves.

Even if Merkel came to her senses the EU will never do what must be done to stem the flow. It would be too ugly for modern Europeans to bear.
