Missouri school split over transgender student Lila Perry using girls bathroom via AP

High school transgender (guy dressing up as a girl) wants to use the girls bathroom even though there's a gender-neutral one available. Shockingly some parents and students are skeptical.

An effort by a transgender student to use the girls bathroom has split Hillsboro High School, with some of her peers walking out in protest and others holding a counter demonstration to show their support.

Lila Perry said she wants to be treated like other female students and told school administrators that she wasn’t content in continuing to use a unisex faculty bathroom this year, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

The 17-year-old’s decision prompted some students to leave the campus near St. Louis on Monday, following last week’s school board meeting in which parents expressed concern that Perry was receiving special rights at the expense of other students.

The school’s gay-straight alliance and other supporters held their own protest to show their support for Perry.

Skyla Thompson said Perry, whom she calls her best friend, often stays at her house overnight while Perry’s family tries to come to grips with their child identifying as transgender.

“She is such a good person. They are just judging her on the outside,” Skyla said of those who have been critical of Perry.

Superintendent Aaron D. Cornman declined to comment to the newspaper on the issue, but gave a written statement that said the district respects the rights of all students and “appreciates the fact that the students we are educating are willing to stand on their belief system and to support their cause/beliefs through their expression of free speech.”

His statement adds that the district accepts all students no matter their race, gender or sexual orientation.

“We will promote tolerance and acceptance of all students that attend our district while not tolerating bullying/harassing behaviors of any type in any form,” the statement reads.

Perry said the school administration has been supportive and made her feel welcome. She said they have allowed her to use the facilities used by girls and women.

“I wasn’t hurting anyone. I didn’t want to be in something gender-neutral,” she said, referring to the faculty bathroom. “I am a girl. I am not going to be pushed away to another bathroom.”

Maybe they can do it like they did on South Park where Cartman claimed to be trans gendered so he could get his own bathroom by giving him his own bathroom. I knew something like this would happen eventually. I was thinking at the time, would all the female attention whores who "celebrated" Bruce Jenner for being who he "really is" would want to sit in the stall next to him while they were using the bathroom. Most of us know that shit would be a resounding NO.

This might just be an issue where the SWJ's eat themselves. On one hand they are promoting trans rights, on the other they want safe spaces for women and girls. I saw photos from the protest with parents carrying "girls' rights" and "girls' safety" signs, so they have already figured this out.

All we need is one of these trans dudes to come out as lesbian, and pop a boner in the girls' locker room. Checkmate.

My take on this:

What I see happening simply the eternal teenage desire to define oneself as both an Individual whilst part of a conformist tribal clique - most commonly displayed through attention-seeking hair and clothing - is currently taking Fashion and Style Cues from Transsexual Culture, as it's considered the forefront of oppression and cultural subversion. It's purely about them seeking a non-mainstream identity: 10 years ago, this kid would have been an Emo; 20 years ago, a Riot Grrrl; 30 years ago, a Goth.

Unfortunately, this is being confused by authorities and those in the media with genuine Gender Dysphoria, and is being taken far too seriously in the name of The Progressive Death March Towards Utopian Fantasy Bliss. (Of course, since Utopia is always a culture frozen in Stasis - everything is now perfect for all citizens forever and ever - it's inherently naive and unrealistic, since life is a process of constant change).

I simply see mundane, unpopular upper middle class kids playing at being edgy: in much the manner Goths always seemed lightweight to me for hating life whilst not just slitting their wrists and becoming the beautiful corpse they fetishize; this current wave of Girls With Cocks are simply attention-seeking poseurs, and when it goes out of fashion, again they'll revert to being boys. The Trannie Phase will be something their grandkids discover about them, much like parents being Hippies or Punks. "Wow, look how 2015 Grandad looks".

As such, we need to call them on their bullshit and force them to have sex change surgery before being allowed to share female bathrooms. I suspect this would drastically-dilute the numbers.

So is this young boy calling himself "transgender" or "female"? Last I checked the term "transgender" was a label for people who do not define themselves in male/female gender terms, so which is it?

This whole culture of glorifying androgyny is fucked.

Sad thing is the social justice camp have done such a good job at shaming the public into accepting their views that students who are uncomfortable with this boy using a girl's bathroom would have to shut up and live with it. Remember that woman who got her Planet Fitness membership revoked because she protested against allowing a "transgender" man into the woman's locker room? Shit is going off the rails.

Yes, not only that but we're learning it's also a ticket to instant fame and Internet celebrityhood. This kid could get a six-figure book deal or reality series. Never discount fame-seeking as a motive.

As for the trendiness of this, didn't we have periods like this before, where men dressed up as women? There was the glam era with Bowie and the New Romantic period with Boy George and Steve Strange.

In some of these cases, the men doing the dressing up were gay. But that didn't mean they had "Gender Dysphoria," which seems to me to be the latest in a long line of crises invented by psychiatrists to keep themselves employed. Not saying it doesn't exist; just saying the "crisis" over it is being hyped. I don't exactly see these people day-to-day.

Having lived through both periods, there was no detectable wave of widespread androgyny in wider society. This was purely a Club Kids thing.

Remove Bowie from 70's glam, and it's basically a bunch of bricklayers in bad drag peacocking for Scenester pussy. No-one's trying to convincingly look like a woman: they're just trying to be outrageous to be noticed. This is the 70's version of fuzzy hats.



Bowie is more deliberate. Look, I like him as an artist, but I can also see - bar a short period in the 80's - that's he's an artist obsessed with being considered a Subversive Outsider, which is why genuine outsiders like Scott Walker and The Legendary Stardust Cowboy fascinate him. His couple of years of androgyny / gayness was exactly the kind of Style Cue Affectation I'm talking about: pretending to be gay was a way to get easy attention whilst seeming edgy and subversive, so he faked it.

It's a common theme in his career. This is why you get a bizarre '67 baroque easy-listening album all about cannibalism and child murderers. The later Occultism / Crowley fixation. Nazi affectations in the late 70's. He suddenly becomes all about Sonic Youth and the Pixies in the late 80's and you end up with Tin Machine. His mercenary androgyny was really nothing more than what his mid-90's drum and bass album was: pay attention to me, I'm on the cutting edge!

As for the New Romantics, that was musicians taking style cues from a gay scene that barely lasted 2 years, notable for most of the bands involved immediately trying to distance themselves as not being part of the scene. The girls in my school loved it, because, once again, they took their style cues from it. The boys who liked it were, once again, musicians looking for style cues as a way to peacock for female attention.

That being said, girls loved a band like Duran Duran much more once they firmly heterosexualised themselves with their second album: adding scenes of male and female glamour, predatory male pursuit and exotic locations. This is when they became huge in the US.

A shoutout to the full length 'Girls On Film' video, which kickstarted my puberty, and would never be allowed to exist today, due to the Millennial 'Sexual feelings make me feel weird and awkward!' Climate. Moral crusaders complained at the time, but everyone my age laughed at them for being hysterical lemon-sucking old ladies overreacting. Can you imagine the stink today, when the youth are the lemon suckers?
