According to the syllabus for Selena Lester Breikss’ “Women & Popular Culture” class, students risk a failing grade if they use any common descriptors that Breikss considers “oppressive and hateful language.”

"Students will come to recognize how white privilege functions in everyday social structures and institutions.”

The punishment for repeatedly using the banned words, Breikss warns, includes “but [is] not limited to removal from the class without attendance or participation points, failure of the assignment, and— in extreme cases— failure for the semester.”

Breikss is not the only WSU faculty member implementing such policies.

Much like in Selena Breikss’s classroom, students taking Professor Rebecca Fowler’s “ Introduction to Comparative Ethnic Studies” course will see their grades suffer if they use the term “illegal alien” in their assigned writing.

According to her syllabus, students will lose one point every time they use the words “illegal alien” or “illegals” rather than the preferred terms of “‘undocumented’ migrants/immigrants/persons.” Throughout the course, Fowler says, students will “come to recognize how white privilege functions in everyday social structures and institutions.”

In an email to Campus Reform, Fowler complained that “the term ‘illegal alien’ has permeated dominant discourses that circulate in the news to the extent that our society has come to associate ALL unauthorized border crossings with those immigrants originating from countries south of our border (and not with Asian immigrants, for example, many of whom are also in the country without legal documents and make up a considerable portion of undocumented immigrants living in the country).”

“The socio-legal production of migrant illegality works to systematically dehumanize and exploit these brown bodies for their labor,” Fowler continued.

White students in Professor John Streamas’s “ Introduction to Multicultural Literature” class, are expected to “defer” to non-white students, among other community guidelines, if they want “to do well in this class.”

In the guidelines in his syllabus, Streamas elaborates that he requires students to “reflect” on their grasp of history and social relations “by respecting shy and quiet classmates and by deferring to the experiences of people of color.”

Streamas—who previously generated controversy by calling a student a “ white shitbag” and declared that WSU should stand for “White Supremacist University”—also demands that students “understand and consider the rage of people who are victims of systematic injustice.”

Later in the syllabus, Streamas goes even further and accuses Glenn Beck of being an “insensitive white.”

Several other WSU professors require their students to “acknowledge that racism, classism, sexism, heterosexism, and other institutionalized forms of oppression exist” or that “ we do not live in a post-racial world.”

Ari Cohn, a lawyer with the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, told Campus Reformhe considers such requirements to be contradictory, even given the sensitive nature of the courses.

"It is notable that one of the syllabus provisions warns: ‘The subject material of this class is sensitive and controversial. Strive to keep an open mind.’ How are students supposed to approach these sensitive and controversial materials at all, let alone to keep an open mind, if they have to fear that a misconstrued statement, or one that unreasonably offends a classmate will lead to a grade reduction or even removal from class?"

Neither Breikss nor Streamas replied to Campus Reform’s request for comment.

Nobody is forcing the kids to take this class. Most of the guys who enrolled did so to have access to the girls who will flock to this like flies to honey.

Like all college courses they will forget 99% of the material within a year time.

The real problem is that pc culture is a part of university policy.

I'd like to see a law passed that Universities will lose any federal funding (including student loans for their students) if they have speech codes like this. Essentially, to get federal funding, you need to follow the first amendment and allow dissenting opinions and speech without punishment.

I would get a negative grade - "illegal" is the nicest term I use. On the other hand, I rarely say "female", it's usually broad, chick, skirt, or gash.

It is not necessarily a good argument that no one is forcing children to take his classes. At my heavily science-focused university, we were forced to take a certain number of "humanities classes". If the number of students fits perfectly into the number of humanities classes, then students are v being forced to take his classes.

What the fuck is in the water in that part of Washington state? WSU is located only about 70 miles from Eastern Washington University, which you may remember as the college that employed Rachel Dolezal.

I hope those Washington wildfires burn both schools to the ground.

George Carlin joked about this, saying that you can often tell when things are bullshit by the amount of syllables used to describe them.

Contrast "illegals" with "undocumented migrants/immigrants/persons." Trump exposed this when he told that grievance monger "reporter" that he would use the term "anchor baby" instead of "the American-born child of undocumented immigrants." They need all those extra syllables to conceal their bullshit but it's patently obvious.

It's part of a phenomena that Sowell described in Vision of the Anointed, where the anointed (SJW's) have to artificially make up language and terms to describe things in line with their vision, and that's why it sounds so ridiculous.

I went to school in Seattle but almost went to WSU. Eastern Washington, where WSU is located, is really conservative and WSU used to be an exclusively agricultural college.

I cannot believe that this madness has seeped into a university like WSU.

When I was in my early 20s in college I felt it was a joke and that the large majority of my professors were nothing more than people who stayed in school for a long time. I never thought they were smart at all. That's the same way I felt in high school.

I had a confrontation with one professor, and also had a couple who had horrible attitudes and said shit they can only get away with because they are dealing with young people who for the most part still aren't so sure of themselves, and don't realize professors are just people with jobs. They're not anyone special or someone who deserves an undue amount of respect.

That's why this professor can get away with calling a student a white shitbag. I never held professors in high regard, so I would have told him to fuck off when I was in college, but I bet most young students would just take the abuse, and then the sheep in class would laugh and think how awesome the professor is.

However if a professor tried to do that in a room full of adult males with self respect, he'd probably be eating some teeth.

This is why I'm happy I went to an engineering school. Most of my professors flew fighters over Vietnam, designed jet engines or worked for NASA. The humanities classes were military history, anthropology etc. I actually took some Women's Rights in the Middle East course, because I forgot to register, and it was as red pill as it got. There was none of this bullshit.
