Another fashion question for y'all. I'm trying to get some casual sneakers to wear with jeans and a t shirt (probably v necks) when I don't want to put my dress shoes on. I was thinking some Nike running shoes but not sure if this will work. I guess chucks are back in style but I hate wearing those.

This is a solid entry level pair of Nason's. Their casual enough, or you can break the fashion mold and wear'em w/ a suit. I've never worn tennis shoes w/ jeans. Shit, I stopped wearing tennis shoes period. It's Vibram 5 finger shoes for working out now.

I would personally go with some low profile (not chunky) boots or suede clarks desert chukka boots.

If it has to be sneakers, check out any of the classic adidas originals (white sambas would work) or converse jack purcells (have a thick insole so much more comfortable than chuck taylors).

If you're a baller, check out common projects or martin maison margiela or lanvin.

Im thinking about getting some Jordan Growns blk/white. They are defnitely casual and would look dope with jeans and a v neck imo. Probably better for younger dudes tho, Im 20 and I think they'd work well for me.

How are they for a running "shoe" ? And hows the durability and grip of the soles?

these particular ones aren't that good for running. There other ones on the website designed for that but when i run in them i feel get more direct push off of the ground than I would with track shoes. I'm gonna try track/sprinting shoes again after I'm done with these to see if using them as made me faster. I hypothesized that forcing myself to run w/out the assistance track shoes specifically give you would force me to become faster on my own, and then I'd be even faster once a reintroduce the track shoes and give myself that extra assistance. The durability on these are great as long as you don't step on broken glass or anything particularly sharp and the grip is okay, but still there are different soles and shoes you can choose from to fit your need.

I looked at the website the "Komodos" seem to be the one for me, tough sporty with good grip. Found a store near my job that sells them, gonna go tomorrow after work and try on a pair.

Picked up a pair of Vibrams, and I dont think I'd ever wear them other then exercising or out and about while exercising, but I'm half tempted to start a whole new thread simply on the benefits of "barefoot" running in these things.

Its a crazy workout and they are by far the most comfortable things I've ever put my feet in.

Neon yellow, black, and grey dont make for the sexiest footwear, but I vouch for em.


Also, one thing I've noticed about a lot of these boots that are being posted, alot of the detail and craftsmanship is all about the ankle, wearing pants how would that even bee seen?

@Chad- Good job on the Vibrams. I'll never wear tennis shoes again. As far as boots are concerned, girls will notice. Night before last a blond chick w/ huge tits was taking pics of my Nasons. She walked over and pulled up my pants leg. Lol. The shoeshine guy downstairs stares at them every time I walk by. A lot of girls were checking them out in Queens. Pick up a set of Nasons and you'll feel stand out in the crown. There expensive though, so try to find them on ebay. And they run a 1/2 size big, so adjust accordingly.

I like Merrels' shoes.

Not the ones that are all bright and you use to run through jungles and up mountains in the rain, but their more casual understated designs. They're comfortable cause they incorporate all that tech the other louder designs use and they're streamlined. The ones I have go well with shorts, jeans and other kinds of casual pants.

Those Nason boots look sharp, but the ones on Zappos are too small for me. Anyone know of anything like the Nason Brufords but in 14-15 2E or 3E?

Is there a bare of nasons with a thin sole? Like a barefoot version? I've been wearing vibrams for a year now so my feet are pretty used to it. Would be cool to have something for colder weather and less odd.

You should go to Nordstrom and browse the shoe dept. Skip the overprices $400 shoes and look at the casuals. They have some reasonably priced ($75) nikes, converse, adidas etc. Tennis shoe style..not running shoe though. Always need a good running shoe in the closet, but I'd skip them as a go-to casual pair.
I'd post a recommended pair but the Nordstrom website is down for maintenance at the moment.

How about the Converse "One Star" since you mentioned Chucks. It's a Converse model (their best, IMO) that you don't see around that often. They stopped making it in the mid 1990's and recently reintroduced the line. I ordered two pair from the website about a week ago.

I would post some pictures but apparently I need to have 10 posts. So, you'll have to Google it.
