If Narcos keeps it up it will be mentioned in the same sentence as Breaking Bad, CSI the Sopranos, Law and Order and the Wire. What is it about criminals and crime shows that is fascinating?

Don't debate me.

What is fascinating is seeing masculinity that is unrestrained by morality to a large extent. Showing the capabilities of men under such circumstances and the unique dynamic of all-male groups that is often portrayed in those shows.

It is akin to a return to a more primitive form of social organization where men have each others back and fight against the other.

And inevitably the use of organized violence is political since it involves gaining and holding on to power. So you get the intrigues similar to that of what you get in Game of thrones.

There are plenty more reasons.

But the show also seems a bit sanitized to make the characters seem sympathetic to the viewer in order for the viewer to be invested in the characters.

It reminds me of Blow. With that said I get the impression it's going to be a good series but not great. More "Ballers" than "True Detective Season 1."

Nice. I need to watch those TV series as well.

Season 3 is out so I thought I'd bump this as a reminder. You can find it in all the usual places if you don't have Netflix.

I enjoyed the first two seasons, so I'm looking forward to this one. I don't really care that they've lost the blond DEA guy, because the other guy was a better character I think.

I hope they have some baddies that can come close to Escobar in terms of charisma and threat. A lot of the opposing cartel members seemed like children peddling candy compared to him.

This season offers the same quality as previous seasons. No disappointments.

Rare for a show to reach it's third season and not have let down its viewership in the process.

The thing that keeps this series a top of the line storyline is the fact that all of this happened. I`ve only seen the first 3 episodes but I`m loving this season. Pretty much 80% of this series was recorded in my city and it is somewhat accurate. Cinematography is on point as well.

We`ve already had a couple of series regarding the Cali cartel, but none this high quality of production. I actually live a block away from where one of the Rodriguez brothers was captured (I`m really drawn into this story since it had a deep impact in Colombia). The drug store Clinton list is true and they were on that list until about 5 years ago.

Sweet show, awesome season-

The reason it's so good because it's a actually fact...

It's so hard to get your head around that one man can be so rich and have so much power..

We're gonna see a lot more of that in the future. Fifteen years from now, I wouldn't be surprised if we have a gay James Bond!!!

As for the 3rd season of Narcos, I'm loving it so far. I thought it would lose some of its magic without Wagner Moura, but they did a really good job, and some of those new actors are fantastic (especially Matias Varela).

Besides being a faggot, Pacho is actually pretty cool. Out of all his family in all the shootouts he was pretty unfazed and walked around casually.

Pacho was gay in real life, too. And it wasn't like they had overt gay sex scenes like Ozark with all the sounds of a guy cumming down another guy's throat. He kissed a guy once or twice on screen, that's it. If anything, they toned his faggotry way down because in real life Pacho was a very stereotypical gay man. Gay

Only negative for me was the lack of quality boobs this season. They need to step up their game in that department.

I finished watching season 3 this morning and I think it's my favorite season so far. It seems next season they are going after Amado Carrillo or some Mexican cartel which should be good too.

They did go easy on the homo shit, it could of easily ruined the series for me if they had embraced the gay shit like in ozark

It´s like if americans got mad over fucking half of the middle east of doing movies about al capone, the guy from the wolf of wall street, and hundreds of other criminals.

Colombia is not only about druglords and cocaine; we have our thing, but we can´t deny that this happened and that it was literally incredible. On a side note, we have had at least a dozen series in Colombia about the Rodriguez brothers, Pablo Escobar, Don Berna, FARC, M-19, etc. So I ain´t going to complain if Netflix does the same but with a better budget.

Pacho Herrera was in reality gay as fuck. Actually he embraced it. He had his own soccer team of gay men that played with him and fucked with him.

Also, the first extradited drug dealer (he appears in season one), last name ledher, was also gayer than a bag of dicks.

He didn´t care about it. None of these cartel druglords care after they reach a certain point of power.

But yeah, that scene was fucking disgusting. And not a single tit on the entire season.

^ He should have had multiple guns, magazines and probably a shot gun as well.

Maria the cartel whore that got passed around was a solid WB, would have loved to see those tits unleashed.

I looked up most of the more important actors on IMDB, most of the Latinos are obviously supposed to be Colombian but on IMDB most of them were from Spain. Jorge Salcedo was even born in Sweden and Pena who is supposed to be Mexican-American was born in Chile.

If I was Latino it would probably bother me hearing all these weird accents unless they can fake their accent as good as all the English and Australian etc. actors speaking American. My Spanish isn't good enough to tell for most accents so I don't know.

Trust me, their accents sound simply terrible, but I try to focus on the storyline and cinematography rather than that.

They sound like if you gave the role of a stock broker to a south african farmer, but that´s been the entire 3 seasons.

There are plenty of colombian actors, but the main ones are not from here (salcedo, peña, etc). For example, the guy that played don berna had a nearly perfect accent. Orlando Henao did an incredible job as well (norte del valle has a really peculiar and strong accent).

Pablo Escobar´s actor is from Brasil, and spanish is not his mother tongue, so I´m used to it.

I read that the guy that played Escobar had to even learn Spanish for the show.

I guess it isn't really a big deal since it was marketed towards Gringos but if I was a native Spanish speaker it would annoy me.

SPOILER ALERT

When Miguel told Salcedo that he was going to be releasing him of his duties and maybe even investing in his company I bet Salcedo thought "Fuck", if he hadn't started working with the DEA earlier he could have stuck it out for a few more months and then lived a life of luxury doing his legitimate business in the future like he planned instead of living like a schmuck doing oil changes in the states.

The character that is portrayed as Salcedo is actually called William C. Rempel. He actually has a book portarying his story. He used to be an engineer hustling with a mechanics business. His army bud got him a gig with Rodrigue without him knowing he was actually working for the guy. Eventually he was pressured to work with him even with his urge to leave.

I am 100% sure he wanted nothing to do with any of the godfathers. He had seen what their were up to and how far they were able to go if the situation needed it.

The Cali cartel was not as violent and infamous as the Medellin one... But hell, they were still narcos, still gang owners, still assasins.

The book is called "en la boca del lobo" and im pretty sure there´s an english version.

Is anyone else getting tired of the cynical "welcome to the next level" routine that they do at the end of each season? There's always some shadowy CIA or government operative there to deliver an amused, machiavellian lecture to Pena about how things work in the real world and how he should get with the program etc.

It's not that I disagree with that view but it's a forced and cheap way to give the show some semblance of philosophical depth. Narcos is no Sopranos or Mad Men. Stick to the motorcycle drivebys and spicy latinas please.

They need to either make the show an anthology or find a better way to explain why the same guy keeps bringing down all the world's major cartel saturday morning cartoon style.

Considering that Escobar was on the CIA payroll, it's good that they had at least some mention in that series of who was really running the show.

The world drug trade has been in the hands of the globalists for generations, going back to the China opium trade centuries ago, which built many of the great Anglo-American fortunes, and financed the Ivy League and the great museums in the US and UK.

The cartels are meshed with their ruling elite, the drug trade being one of their main revenue streams. The elites get most of the proceeds, while the cartel heads get the media hype, and get chopped off and replaced by other figures every few years.

But that's not just specific to Mexico. The drug trade has been the lynchpin of the world's ruling classes, going back to the opium trade three centuries ago, which gave rise to many of the elites that still rule to this day. Bill Clinton's presidential campaign was financed by proceeds from the Mena, AR Colombian traffic. We weren't in Vietnam (Golden Triangle) just to fight communism, and aren't in Afghanistan (global leader in opium production) just to make sure their little muslim girls get to go to school...

I'm not really getting into a debate about all this because I've had it on other forums, but this "the elites secretly rule the criminal underworld" thing is way overblown.

The world's top criminals and "legitimate" powerful figures have always rubbed shoulders and done business when it was mutually beneficial, but it was never a subordinate relationship. The top criminals are very cagey and more red pill than the manosphere could ever hope to be, and they fiercely look to their own interests. They're not really interested in being pawns for the "deep state" or whatever you want to call it.

For instance the US mob and the CIA worked together to overthrow Castro and on many other things and even shared a lot of personnel. But the mobsters weren't ordered about by the CIA. In fact, while they took money from the CIA to kill Castro, they didn't really put that much effort into it. Their real interest was that that relationship was potential blackmail material which they could use down the road.

If the elites have had such control over the underworld, why did the Ndrangheta kidnap the grandson of John Paul Getty - the richest man of his time - with total impunity, forced him to pay a big ransom, and got away with it? Today the 'Ndrangheta is possibly the most succesful crime syndicate on the planet but at the time they were just a bunch of ragtag peasants. Why didn't the hammer drop on them for daring to touch one of the elites?

Come to think of it, John D. Rockefeller himself feared his children might get kidnapped. So did Henry Ford, and this fear caused him to cultivate friendships with Detroit's top mobsters at the time. Both Trump and his father paid shakedown money to the NY 5 families so their construction businesses wouldn't be stopped.

Or were these people not real elites? Are they fronts for the Rothchilds?

Leaders of international crime syndicates like Pablo Escobar, Toto Riina, Dawood Ibrahim, Sergei Mikhailov etc. are modern day versions of the warlords and kings of old. They rise to the top by sheer will-to-power, they live with the constant fear of death or life imprisonment. Their whole lives is a litany of violence, betrayal and scheming.

I'm not infatuated with them like some groupie, in fact I wouldn't piss on them if they were on fire, but do you honestly think that if they take all that risk, when they make a billion dollars they send $900 million to some Ivy League twit like George Bush or Bill Clinton just because they are part of "elite" families?
