These refugees are not colonizing anybody, they are not stealing natural resources,they are not shipping human beings to enslave them, they are not stopping locals from speaking their languages in their own country, they are not taking elite jobs or government jobs, they are simply trying to improve their lives.

Interesting that it was Europeans who started this immigration process and now they don't like that other nations have started to do the same. If you invade someone's house and steal everything from their home or even disrupt their home system, don't be surprised if they come to your house.

@Pitt On a surface level, yes you're right, the immigrants are just availing of Europe's willingness to let them walk/sail in, in order to find greener pastures.
The thing to realise though is this wasn't the European people who decided to colonise other countries or indeed to start inviting them in on the Windrush or as Gastarbeiters.
It was the elites who decided this, the other > 95% of European people had absolutely no say in this.
And it is the elites who bear no cost for all of what's happening now, Joe Public has to carry the can.
Has to pay more taxes, endures more stressed health and public services, sees his cities and towns getting increasingly 'diversified', and the associated problems that stem from this enforced diversity.
Also, the simple fact is that by pursuing this soft touch approach, Europe only exacerbates the problem by encouraging more and more migrants to come, as they see that Europe won't turn them back once they arrive.

Now we are talking.

I actually agree with you, I also think the UK should close its borders and stop low value immigrants from coming in. But let's blame it on the UK weak immigration system that allows anybody to come in, contribute nothing and receive lots of benefits. The system is flawed and needs to be fixed,as long as the system is not fixed, there will be always new immigrants coming in.

The long term goal is going to be to reduce or disband the European welfare state that has been intact since Bismark decided to give the workers a carrot in the 1880s. Europe's overbearing welfare system will completely collapse in the next decade (or two) if unlimited amounts of uneducated immigrants are allowed to suck on its bosom. Get them working, or don't let them in, or a bit of both.

Controlled immigration, coupled with no social benefits is the best way to integrate outsiders. Additionally Europe can certainly integrate other Christian or even animist people's (like certain African immigrants, Syrian Christians, etc) but Islamic immigration will result in chaos if they can't get muslims in Europe to convert to atheism or drop their religion. Unfortunately, religious differences are far more dangerous and deadly than racial/ethnic differences and last far longer.

Some oversight is probably the smart solution.

It provides high quality of life, with oversight in a way that aid or investment do not.

But it will be called colonialism so it will be automatically wrong.

This talk of slavery as a "white thing" is interesting. Slavery in Africa was mostly done by blacks towards other blacks. Blacks often sold other blacks to the european slavers. Slavery is not a "race" issue. It's a human issue.

I have know idea what the headlines are in Southern Europe?

Italian newspapers like Il Giornale basically spell out how entitled and selfish the migrants are by refusing food and lodging that isn't good enough.
