More women than ever not in US labor force
Despite the supposed desire for a career, more women than ever are not in the labor force. Whether it's from shitty college majors, government handouts or pure self interest, they just aren't participating.

Quote:The number of women not in the labor force reached a record high in July, according to data released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

According to the BLS, 56,209,000 women aged 16 and older were not participating in the workforce in July, besting April’s record of 56,167,000 women who were neither employed nor had made a specific effort to find work in the four weeks prior.

July’s figures represented an uptick of 124,000 over June’s level of 56,085,000 women who were out of the workforce.

The civilian labor force also shrank for women last month from 73,547,000 in June to 73,528,000 in July. The labor force participation rate for women, meanwhile, remained the same at 56.7 percent.

Of those women considered to be in the workforce, 69,638,000 had a job and 3,891,000 were unemployed. The unemployment rate for women was 5.3 percent in July, up slightly from June’s 5.2 percent.

The month of July also saw a record 93,770,000 Americans not participating in the labor force.

While the labor participation rate remains at the lowest it has been since the late 1970s, the overall unemployment rate remained at 5.3 percent and nonfarm payroll jobs increased by 215,000.

Even then I suspect those unemployment statistics are flaky, since they typically only cite the smaller, more digestible U3 number, not the larger, more relevant U6 number.

Any chance this is connected to the success of Seeking Arrangement and other sugar daddy (prostitution) sites?

RE: More women than ever not in US labor force
If I sign a contract with a client where I get paid for $200K for a project, I complete the project in 10 days, and am off the rest of the year, according to the BLS, what am I? Also, how does that change when they measure during the days vs. when they measure 6 months after I made the money.

Curious if anyone knows this. The reason I ask is that quite a few young women (and fewer young men) that I know work this way, but I suspect by these data metrics they would be considered unemployed or underemployed, when their definition of employed is much different than the BLS'.

Related: if I create a product that's sold at Walmart and my business is entirely automated, but I make $2K a month from it, what am I?

In either case, you are self employed and don't count in labor statistics as far as I know. You need to be getting a W2 or be on unemployment to fit in the data. That is why people "drop out of the workforce" aka they are no longer on employment so they are no longer phoning in and pressing the button "looking for work" so their data disappears.

I think the women not in the workforce is interesting, as a few years ago they made up the bulk of the workforce and men had a much higher unemployment rate. Women dropping out of the workforce means the alternatives to work, that sustain themselves, are better. ie. social benefits or boyfriends. That or the cost of daycare relative to the wages they can make is too high...that seems to the the case I hear among my white middle class friends. They would rather downsize their lives than pay daycare costs....or at least thats what they say when their bitches can hack working in the real world.

RE: More women than ever not in US labor force
The enormous investment society makes in educating women gets very little return, and almost certainly a net loss. None of them intend to work a full career, they simply don't care.

Even the most educated women quit work early http://www.thegrindstone.com/2012/03/27/...sion-535/.

44% of women doctors work part time (a large reason why there's a shortage of doctors in this country). If you hire a woman you're getting less work and more problems.

I have a recently divorced friend in the dating pool. None of his hits are working or care to work. They want to find a man to sponge of off full time.

Yeah. Women also have some other advantages. A lot of family members will only put up with an unemployed son for so long, but a daughter, especially if she has kids as a single mother, for a lot longer.

If you are a single mother, especially a younger one, then you can get all sorts of benefits and on top of that you can probably get a lot of help from family.

I also wonder about some things that aren't exactly small businesses, not in the same sense of what guys will do, but can still make a decent amount of money in a cash economy.

A lot of women seem to be into the crafts/art for sale stuff and I don't know if they actually have to have any sort of W2. Same foes for camgirls who get paid in tokens on chaturbate or similar sites.

If you have a boyfriend who lets you live with him and you can bring in some money making some jewelry to sell on etsy or some similar site, then that might be the equivalent of a part time job.

For example, this isn't quite the same but I had a couple of friends, ok pot dealers but also friends, who were into blowing glass.

A small glass pipe at a headshop is going to cost you a minimum of 40 bucks and maybe more. It costs almost nothing in supplies to make and doesn't take all that long.

My friends would spend an afternoon blowing glass, especially glass beads, and then they would sell it to one or two of the headshops right off the college campus and they would walk away with thousands of dollars. The left overs or mistakes, would become glass beads and they would sell them to the shop for like a dollar a piece or put them on bracelets or whatever and sell for 5 or 10 bucks to the shop. The shop would double their money and hippie and hipster girls loved buying them for themselves or for craft and art projects. However, the main money maker was making some nice size bongs that they would sell for 100 bucks or so and the shop would sell for 200.

I doubt these guys ever paid any taxes on the glass they blew, even though it was obvious they went above the limit to be considered a hobby and required a business license.

I don't know about the jewelry end all that much, but I could see a section of late 20s or early 30s women doing something like that. Also, there must be a lot of jobs that pay under the table. Things like hostess.

Women these days think they can shop for a man like they shop for a purse or a pair of shoes. Sorry ladies. It doesn't work that way.

Women are like sandwiches. All men love sandwiches. That's a given. But sandwiches are only good when they're fresh. Nobody wants a day old sandwich. The bread is all soggy and the meat is spoiled.

It's OK. I'm sure it's because they're all getting married off, starting families, and becoming full-time housewives. Right?

If this isn't correcting for the increasing pool above retirement aged it's severely confounded.

It's an interesting double-edged-sword really. While I'm not divorced, I'm in my 40s and freely dating and have 1 child.

The ones who are willfully employed in their 30s are either divorced and collecting so much child support (and maybe alimony as well), they could practically live off just that, so they work part time (if at all) and "play" mommy, and are average parents at best -OR- if they are single and working full time (without kids), they're so empowered, and entitled in their minds, they're worthless to bother locking down, and trying any sort of LTR with.

Then dipping down into the 20 somethings is fun, but those girls have 100s of male suitors doing back flips for a piece of ass, while they hold average jobs with little ambition to do much more, so the expiration date on those is about 2-4 months, (or extendable fuck buddies at best) unless you present a "free ride" life for them.

Excellent point, single mom's that suck up the most tax resources may also be the most tax delinquent if working cash/tips jobs like waitress, hair dresser, home daycare worker or craft seller.

On the note of Esty etc. though, they will get busted eventually. All 3rd party payment networks in america will hand over records to the IRS if requested and automatically if gross sales are over 30k. This started in 2012 I believe and will become a huge low hanging audit pool for tax revenue. Its so easy, they will say "Estsy/Paypal sent you $5k of payments, but you didn't put $5k of gross income on your tax return? Game over. Back taxes + underreporting penalty + interest"

RE: More women than ever not in US labor force
^^^

I briefly ran a small business in my late teens and early 20s. Mainly selling things on ebay back when it was somewhat profitable.

It has been awhile but it was a fairly large amount of money that you had to make as a profit, not gross if I remember, to hit the point where you needed to get a business license and start filing returns on the 20th of each month.

I think it was something like 7.5 k a year or something. If I remember it was also dependent on what you do.

So, you could supplement your income fairly well...especially being in the lower bracket and getting all sorts of freebies...by simply buying and selling antiques at yard sales or online auctions without even hitting the point where you had to be filing a tax return.

Even if you were doubling it over the limit, well I would guess the odds of getting caught are somewhat small. I doubt they are making 5k worth of payments at any one time.

When I was doing it with ebay and some other auction sites and my own crappy website, I was basically putting in 10 to 20, at most, extra hours a week selling all sorts of collectibles. I would figure out what was hot, especially in the toy market, and get friends and people at Walmart and Toys R' Us to order cases of them and then I would sell them for 4x or more the mark up. Especially if it was some Toys R' Us exclusive, like the Simpsons actions figure sets at the time which cost 30 bucks a pop but sold for, in some cases, well over 100 dollars at the time.

My point is that I was basically doubling my income, or sometimes bringing in more than what I got from working at the grocery store after 40 hrs that week, with 10 or 15 hours at most.

So, from what I remember that was around 300-400 bucks per week from paypal.

So, if we assume the girl has a boyfriend and he is paying for the apt, say a two bedroom for 650-800 at the outskirts of the city, and she is in her 20s which means that mom and dad may still be covering her car and phone payments. Then even if she brings in 200-400 bucks a week, at say 50% profit, then she can still afford to supplement her boyfriends income and buy some nice things from time to time. Especially if he is also covering a large portion of the grocery and electric/water bills, or alternatively the state is.

Add in working an under the table job-job from time to time, and that isn't that bad of a situation for a reasonably hot girl with a HS education. Especially if she isn't living off of credit card and student loan debt.

Women these days think they can shop for a man like they shop for a purse or a pair of shoes. Sorry ladies. It doesn't work that way.

Totally feasible even without a BF. I know a girl that lived pretty well between child support, food stamps and other subsidies while making about $100/week cash cleaning houses for 5-6 hours a week. If a woman in that situation adds in an 'off the books' live in boyfriend they split expenses and he shares in the benefits and a lazy gravy train.

By "off the books" boyfriend I mean a boyfriend that lives at the house but is not reported there when updating the food stamps and rent subsidy folks. The boyfriend maintains an address at his parents or a buddy's place.

No one gets "rich" of of these schemes but can easily coast through life.

The highlighted is your answer. A record number of women are not in the labor force because a record number of people are not in the labor force, because the economy is an empty husk propped up by a Fed generated liquidity bubble.

And no, sugar daddy websites wouldn't even register as noise on the work force participation rate.

I've got a friend who makes great money (nearly $300k) while his recent law school graduate wife was lucky to find a job as a county prosecutor for about $42k to start. The day care costs were $2500 a month (northern NJ), so it made more sense for her to be a stay at home mom. He pays for everything, including her student loans (undergrad and law school). She doesn't even have to go to the grocery store - they use Peapod.

....and of course, all she can do is bitch.

I knew a stripper in a military town years ago who used to get paid all cash and started to get worried about what would happen if she got audited. She was pulling in close to 100 grand a year - never reported any of it. So she set up a web cam just to get some chump change with a W2 for tax time.

Not my point.

I suspect there is a correlation: fewer women actually working plus an uptick in sugar daddy web site participation means, deductively, that there are more women on sugar daddy sites who either never tried or flat out gave up looking for regular jobs.

RE: More women than ever not in US labor force
My sister is just shy of 30.

She has only worked 9 months in her entire life.

Besides that she has drifted from private school, to undergrad degree to 2 masters degrees and now a PHD, all funded by my father. All whilst living the party lifestyle at university in London, one of the most expensive cities in the World and without ever having to come into contact in any meaningful way with "normal" people.

All supposedly in pursuit of some convoluted career that apparently "needs" these qualifications and which can only be acquired in London....yeah right.

It's all bollocks...she just doesn't want to work. I've commented many times that she can't actually afford to get a job...her quality of life will be lower than what it is now on Daddy's dime!

I keep telling her that if she doesn't find a husband soon, she's fucked long term. Doesn't register.

RE: More women than ever not in US labor force
From my observations a lot of women work temp gigs or some kind of a part time non profit job. It's not that expensive to live in a cheap apartment and cook at home. Some are unemployed. How do they do this magic, I don't know. Money from their parents?

But what's the opposite of the unemployed woman? The office worker? I don't want a woman who's drained from staring at Excel spreadsheets and tired from boring work meetings. I've dated office girls, they're stiff and depressed. I much prefer the jewel making girl from the video above, at least she's doing something that's feminine. My current girl is practically broke. However she provides fun and lightheartedness to me, which I value more than dollars in her bank account or boring stories about her coworkers and her corporation. I don't even have a use for these dollars, except if I marry a woman, which is not my goal right now.

There is nothing attractive about the average modern women - by modern design of course.

The only thing they can do better than us at the moment is make a baby.

I just heard a new idea, at least new to me, coming from the MGTOW movement...

To battle feminists, simply thank them for freeing men from having to protect and provide for women, for having to put up with women's shit, but still have as much sex as before. Then shame them for their feminist ideas hurting women so badly.

It is amazing how much feminism has hurt society, but in the end, how much feminism has hurt women. The average woman has been destroyed by this movement. This disgusting movement based on self hate and jealously.

I was just thinking this after listening to the last interview by Roosh.

Whenever I meet a self proclaimed feminist I'm going to be all "Cool! I LOVE feminists!"...

You girls pushed down the minimum wage by flooding the labour market and now I can get you sitting in my future office chair for 8 hours a day and you're HAPPY ABOUT IT!

YOU GO GIRL!

RE: More women than ever not in US labor force
Interesting that this topic is up as the new wave of students embarking on debt for life in the UK has come around once more. More than 400,000 students are going to University this September.

News article

The government recently changed the maintenance grant to a loan meaning you have to pay back all of the living expenses you incur. This is on top of the £9,000 for each year.

I have been in University and even my course could have been taught and finished within 18 months, if that. The majority of these people are going into shit courses and are proud of it.

In 2015 we still have people going into events management...

Don't forget the majority of nursing students are women and they do not all get a place and yet the UK is in desperate need of nurses throughout the country. We instead hire thousands of foreign nurses at a higher cost.

A girl I knew did a medical PHD and hated it. She did a BSc, a Masters and was part way through her PHD when she decided she didn't want to do it any more. Laugh

Majority of these people will not get a job they think they will get.
