RE: Wall victim: Lana Del Rey
Quote:Having been labeled as antifeminist multiple times in the past, Del Rey dismissed feminism in June 2014, telling The Fader: "For me, the issue of feminism is just not an interesting concept. I'm more interested in, you know, SpaceX and Tesla, what's going to happen with our intergalactic possibilities. Whenever people bring up feminism, I'm like, god. I'm just not really that interested."
I was listening to her last night and like her music often does, it brought me back to review a number of relationships I have had. The unfortunate double edged sword of the times is that these young, attractive, intelligent, feminine women get sucked into the fast lane in our big cities. The men they fall for, the guys with their shit together and some level of value have been in the game long enough to be jaded or in many cases never see the long game as we are too busy preemptively moving on from these girls as experience has told us there are likely no women left worth holding on to.
So these young girls are barely given an opportunity to be the loving, passionate woman they truly desire and instead push ever further trying to find the lost opportunity they had, but such is the game that both the man and the woman give it all up "just in case".
I listen to her songs because they are a blueprint to the other side of my life. I can;t help but think of some of the women who I just assumed wanted to fuck their way through their 20's when in reality they just wanted a man like me to take all that scary shit away and encourage them to be women.

I've literally never listened to her music and would never have heard of her except for her botched SNL appearance, but I like that quote. If she's serious, I'll overlook a few pounds...the lack of boobs and obvious facial surgery are another story.

Whoa - this really hit home.
I'm gonna derail things a bit, but as coincidence would have it, the girl I mentioned earlier in this thread had that same mindset. She was an extremely feminine girl - petite, sweet, demure, wanted a man that she could take care of in her own way. She was Mexican, and would cook me homemade braised carnitas, enchiladas, and a three-milk cake thing that was delicious. She would rub down my back with some strawberry-scented shit when I was sprawled out on her bed, unprompted. And she wouldn't ask for anything in return. She was just happy to feed her man and make him feel relaxed.
She would admit as much, but only in private. She said she couldn't mention this to her girlfriends. She said she would feel like a "sell out." That is fucked. It drives me crazy that traditional femininity is so belittled in western culture, that girls who actively want to embrace that lifestyle are afraid to even say so.

Blame all the women's magazines that are omnipresent in supermarkets for creating this type of attitude over the past 40 years. It's since bled out into the mainstream culture.
Anti-feminist writer Charlotte Allen noticed this in a recent blog post, "Glamour mag slammed as “misogynistic” for advising women to try to please their men."
This is getting off-topic, but it's something worth exploring in another post. There is an entire book about how women's mags sell dissatisfaction and resentment to women. It's called "Spin Sisters" and was written by a woman who is a former women's magazine editor herself.
The irony of all this is that the culture put forth by these magazines isn't even lived out by most of the women themselves. Several of my former editors now run or help run women's mags and they themselves are pretty traditional. But what they sell isn't. It's almost like church, the way the clergy pushes one mode of behavior that they themselves don't adhere to.
