Where I'm from, a dude catcalls for comedic effect for his own amusement or to show out for his boys.

If a chick bites and wants to chat, that's a bonus.
If she bitches, that's a bonus.

On a sociological level, if you got lots of men with idle time, catcalling is the least of your worries.

None of these bitches want to deal with that. Rather just watch The Wire and claim to be informed.

This thread reminded me of a situation that happened to me couple of years ago.

I was standing in line with a chick I was gaming at the time to buy some food from a chinese vendor, when all of a sudden a hobo jumped at some folks right next to us, and quite close to her. The hobo was harmless really, just talking gibberish and yelling and cursing. She was freaking out and recoiling to my side. The guy eventually left as I and most of the people there ignored him and went about our day.

Couple of minutes later, still a bit shaken, she asked me: "my god, you didn't even do anything! You didn't even try and protect me!". I simply answered: "I'm not your bodyguard." We were making out half an hour later.
