Neeson is of course referring to his late wife Natasha Richardson. The couple tied the knot in 1994 and was happily married with their two sons until her tragic death in 2009.

Neeson didn't elaborate about which film he was considered for, but if we're doing the math it would have been around the time of GoldenEye. Pierce Brosnan starred in the seventeenth installment, and his first of four films in the spy series. Neeson also didn't explain why the English blond beauty was opposed to him starring in the storied franchise. Maybe it was the daring stunts, the exotic locations and the beautiful leading ladies.

Rejecting the potentially life-changing part didn't harm Neeson's career in any way. His unforgettable role in Schindler's List catapulted his career and he earned an Oscar nomination in 1993. He also starred in Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, the Chronicles of Narnia series, Taken and The A-Team, to name a few.

I mean, I guess he was athletic and a boxer when he was younger, but I still never wrapped my mind around him being a toughguy persona or cast for these action hero roles. Just too awkward.

I've learned to accept it over the years, but Bond? Way too smooth of a character.

Pearce Brosnan was by far the better choice!

Did you know though, that at one time Ranulph Feinnes was in the running, but he was rejected, famously recounting the tale on Top Gear that cubby Broccoli said to him " your hands are too big and you've got the face of a farmer.

As for future James Bonds, how about Ewan McGregor?? He was good as a Jedi knight! Sean Bean?? Good in Lord of The Rings and other tough guy roles.

Bond movies went downhill with Craig Daniel because they became to much like other action movies. Bond was fun because it was cheeky and didn't take itself to seriously without being ridiculous. Once it became a "serious" franchise, I wasn't interested anymore.

Sounds like he made this up to sound good. He said he "was heavily courted" - he probably was simultaneously with many others but the producers ultimately chose Piece Brosnan. Liam then spun it to say he chose his wife over the movie part to make all the girls swoon.

Brosnan is probably my least favorite bond. Despite his politics and idiocy off the camera, I like Daniel Craig.

Edit, what? I doubt a female Bond would ever get cast. The franchise is pretty strong as is. A black Bond could be great if it's the right actor, Idris Elba maybe?

He is already 42 though, he might be considered too old to be a new bond, he'd be like 44 or 45 by the time his first Bond film was made. he could do it though, good enough of an actor.
