Pewdiepie's prime demographics are 10-13 year old kids. They are the perfect audience who will sit around for hours watching youtube videos. There's an interesting article about how he essentially "hacked" the youtube promotion algorithm by being in a small market (Sweden) and appealing to people who have nothing better to do than watch youtube videos all day (10-13 year old gamers).

Who cares about this girl. You can see girls her quality all day every day in Russia and probably other EE places. In fact, I DID see them when I was just there.

The more interesting question is whether a fraction of this type of success can be sort of automated or at least made somewhat formulaic. Or is the nature of these things that maybe the soils go to the top 1-5%? I know there are others doing similar things. Is it just right combination of timing, etc. that makes him a top performer?

The amount of subs he has is unreal. The retention time is probably key metric. Any studies on this? Would be interesting to experiment. I have some cats. Maybe I can be rich doing this too? Actually, that's not a crazy idea in this age. If you have a telegenic cat, could you develop an income stream using that cat?

As far as I know he grew first by completely disconnecting the Youtube ad-function. The media wrote that he could have made millions some time ago. Of course when he activated it, then the millions came rolling in.

Social media is highly top-laden with some making millions, while millions make close to nothing. Youtube is actually a veritable business where uploading stupid crap for 13 year olds, girly videos on how to put up your makeup or having funny cat videos can net you hundreds of thousands per year.

The best demographics are you usually young women (Jenna Marbles making millions as well), young teenagers (PewdiePie) or thirsty men, but their interests are more spread out than with women and 10-14 year olds.
