Things that don't exist but should by now
I'll start. Have always such a list would be interesting, and possibly a refreshing diversion from the constant LGBT doomsday scenarios.

This is an example:

I've always noticed watching sports, when they show a replay from a different angle - it's significantly more fun to watch. Seeing a replay from the quarterback's angle is better than the standard zoom out.

Same with soccer, a replay at field-level is simply more entertaining.

To this day, there is no option to a choose a different camera angle. It would probably cause for some arguments, but the technology is available. There's no rational explanation as to why this doesn't exist yet.

Add any ideas to the list

Schools without a fixed schedule or classes.

The main drawback to schools(mostly public, though private suffers from this too) is the lack of flexibility. You go to classes because you "have to" not because you actually learn anything useful. You cant even necessarily pick the teachers who suit you best(or are objectively better). Its all luck of the draw.

The solution is to allow students to pick their classes/teachers. Allow them to join and leave at any time. Its likely that the teachers who manage to do really well will likely have a "full" class of 50+ at any given moment. You could have the class for 30 mins if its easy or 2+ hours if its hard. The teacher may have a set schedule for what she is going to do according to a timetable but its up to the students to join or leave at any time. Performance based pay helps but importantly horrible teachers who no one likes should be fired. Basically it incentivizes teachers to teach well. Ideally you wouldnt even have teachers doing set "subjects" like Math, English, Science etc but they would be free to teach interesting subjects that have real world relevance.

Even better is if the students can join/leave the school grounds at any time. Its been proven that teenagers especially suffer from early mornings. But children need to be free to, you know, just be children. But the government/helicopter parenting culture may make this difficult...

I think that this is a good topic... but for some reason nothing is coming to mind at the moment... It's maybe one of those topics that kind of come up all of a sudden...

Mass commercial use of hoverboards and flying cars are the obvious ones, but I'm also surprised at just how little the oceans have been explored, or developed.

For example, we're just now starting to see small underwater hotels, and there isn't a submarine tourism industry to much extent compared to cruises and yachts.

Widespread use of ground effect vehicles as passenger and cargo craft. The Russians worked on such craft during the cold war for military purposes. It's sadly a relatively undeveloped technology.

As a south Floridan, I'd love to take the seaborne route to the Carribean,Mexico, somewhere along the eastern U.S seaboard or maybe even transoceanic in one of these bad boys traveling at several hundred mph.

Seconded, but with the requirement that students have to take tests or perform activities that demonstrate certain knowledge or skills.

When it comes to subjects like math, I think the students who learn the material and become comfortable, do so because they are going home and practicing over and over again with the homework....not because the classroom instruction is any better than a properly produced set-by-step video on factoring.

English credits could be earned not by wasting time reading classics that were written to be performed, but rather by writing a non-clickbait blog that achieves a certain number of subscribers or is positively reviewed by a third-party panel.

Honestly, I think it's pretty ridiculous that the people doing the teaching are the same ones that are doing the testing of students.

I'm not sure if nationwide standardized testing is the answer, but I'm equally convinced that current system of education is an inefficient time suck that equates to little more than babysitting.

"I can count on one hand, literally, the number of women I have ever met that can take that kind of advice, accept it and make use of it without their epic egos setting metaphorical fire to the conversation.

Most women "looking for advice" are in reality looking for someone to validate their cosmic victimhood, because it's not really their fault, because it's never their fault. This behavioural trait isn't absent among men, but when we fail society cares not, while when women fail there is no shortage of comforting platitudes on offer from every vector.

I like the idea but it would quickly become a popularity contest vs actual teaching.

And for OP, hoverboards. Chicks dig hoverboards.

There were several being developed in Asian markets around the same time that microjets were introduced. Not sure what happened.

I read in the World (Kids?) Almanac in 2003 that the Japanese have started developing "flying cars." Haven't seen any yet.

All boys schools without homework. Homework is the stupidest thing ever invented, I do not know how it has persisted so long.School should be year round and homework should be eliminated. Boys and girls learn differently and core subjects should be taught separately while bullshit classes and easy stuff should be co ed.

Boeing was working on a version a couple years ago but I don't think it went anywhere.

Most of the current ground effect vehicles are on a much smaller scale.

Like someone on the forum said a while back, the technological advancement of the world is woefully stagnant and inadequate compared to the previous pace (early 20th century), only most people are too distracted by pointless "innovations" like Facebook and YouTube to see it.

Seriously. I think a person should be able to go to mlb.com on any given day and buy the feed to any game they want. Make the price $1.99 or something and I would do it. The current system is so stupid and convoluted, if I buy the mlbtv season package ($25/mo!), I can't get ANY of the games from teams in my regions due to blackout restrictions. Way to market your product, mlb! I'm not paying $80+/month for cable plus sports packages plus a DVR, etc., just to catch the few games I'm interested in.
