The great powers didn't protect the Jews - Pope
Link.
Quote: Pope Francis on Sunday denounced what he calls the "great powers" of the world for failing to act when there was intelligence indicating Jews, Christians, homosexuals and others were being transported to death camps in Europe during World War II.
Quote:"The great powers had photographs of the railway routes that the trains took to the concentration camps, like Auschwitz, to kill the Jews, and also the Christians, and also the Roma, also the homosexuals," Francis said, citing the death camp in Poland. "Tell me, why didn't they bomb" those railroad
As far as I know, British and American intelligence, didn't know the extent of the genocide.
And even if they did, it simply wasn't possible to precision bomb railways using 1943 technology.
Russia, Britain, the Empire and America defeated the Nazis, one of the greatest accomplishments in Western history. How are the crimes of the Nazis suddenly the crime of the countries who fought against them?
Does this man not understand the gargantuan effort it took for the combined forces to win the war? The Holocaust was a tragedy, but it wasn't only Jewish live that were sacrificed during the war.

Quote:Pope Francis was sharply critical of the global arms industry in a speech at the Vatican this week, telling thousands of children in Rome that weapons manufacturers are money-hungry opponents of peace.
According to the Italian news agency AGI, the Pope said:
Some powerful people make their living with the production of arms and sell them to one country for them to use against another country … It’s the industry of death, the greed that harms us all, the desire to have more money.
I think this pope is nuts or an egomaniac.
Take care of those titties for me.

RE: The great powers didn't protect the Jews - Pope
The emotional appeal of "they should've bombed the death camps/the railroads" is very, very strong. That's why it keeps getting repeated.
In reality, though, bombing the death camps would've been an absolute disaster. People don't generally realize how inaccurate WWII style bombing was (putting it within 500 ft of the target was considered good, 100 ft was exceptional), nor do they realize that the Germans were excellent at repairing railroads. The RAF and USAAF bombed the hell out of the German railroads, and they were largely repaired within days, if not hours.
Yes, the Catholic Church did far, far more to aid the Jews than any of the Western Allies did.
As for what the Western Allies knew, by 1943, they were aware that the Jews (and others) were being rounded up and systematically exterminated. They were not aware of how widespread it was, nor were they aware of the huge amount of effort the Nazis were putting into doing so. They realized that the best thing to do was win the war as quickly as possible, hence things like Market Garden. Bombing rail lines and death camps was (as they realized) a waste of time. It simply wouldn't do anything.
If you're not fucking her, someone else is.

This pope is the "Red Pope" - a Communist SJW. He fucking sucks.
And I say this as someone that was raised Catholic.
“….and we will win, and you will win, and we will keep on winning, and eventually you will say… we can’t take all of this winning, …please Mr. Trump …and I will say, NO, we will win, and we will keep on winning”.
- President Donald J. Trump

The Roman Catholic Church was in the pocket of Nazi Germany. I'm surprised you are not aware of that as your previous posts indicate an above average knowledge of history.

It's documented elsewhere if anyone wants to research it.
I think the current Pope is trying to garner support and credibility with these statements. In which case he is showing a strong awareness of how things work today and how credibility is built in today's culture.

If you believe in the Bible, it's because they strayed from his word. The Old Testament repeatedly shows God's fury against the Jews whenever they step out of line. If you break a covenant with God, he will punish you, and if not you, then your descendants.

One of my Catholic friends argues that part of the reason the Holocaust is remembered so vividly is because it's the Old Testament being lived-out in real time. The whole OT can be boiled down to the Jews keep acting like Barracks Lawyers with God's Law, God smacks them down, but doesn't destroy them because they're the Chosen People.
As for this Pope, I'm beginning to think he's a similar case to Roy Masters; Masters is a power-broker, the sort of guy who should be running a corporation, and in his failed search for the ineffable he's come to the conclusion that there is no God, merely the god he manufactures for himself. He proceeds to spout the most cult-like, self-serving morality I've ever heard from a supposed Christian, ensuring that all of the women who phone in to his program will be thinking of him while they spread for their husbands, and that their husbands will be constantly overwhelmed with guilt for being such terrible men.
The Pope is promoting the same sort of sickness; weakness and self-hatred, manifest as false humility. He's the classic case of the man who gives to charity for the sake of his own ego. I strongly suspect that the god he worships is his own ego; that deep down he's a complete nihilist.
It's enough to make you long for the days of mistresses and homosexual orgies; at least then you know the Pope's corrupt.

Hitchens' knowledge of history was a joke. God is not Great is a compendium of historical errors and ranting against religion.
The Catholic Church wasn't in the pocket of Nazi Germany, and the Nazis actually devoted some time and effort to persecuting the Church. The Reichskonkordat was designed to protect the Catholic Church's rights in Nazi Germany. The Nazis ignored the Reichkonkordat pretty soon after it was signed.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catholic_C...skonkordat
Quote:Diplomatic policy under Pius XI saw the Catholic Church conclude eighteen concordats, starting in the 1920s. The aim of the church was to safeguard its institutional rights. Historians note the treaties were unsuccessful since, "Europe was entering a period in which such agreements were regarded as mere scraps of paper".
Quote:Effects of the concordat
Most historians state it offered international acceptance of Adolf Hitler's Nazi regime.
The Reichskonkordat was essentially a power struggle between the rising National Socialist Party, and the Roman Catholic Church, for control over the hearts and minds of Catholic Germans. Obviously the Nazis wanted to have ultimate control, and they achieved it. The Vatican failed and it is now viewed as a major failure of Vatican policy. The current statements from the Pope are an attempt to save face and avoid blame.
There is a lot more to the topic of Roman Catholic failures with regard to the Nazi regime in Europe, what I've presented here is the tip of the iceberg.
What we can see from the failure of the Vatican to maintain ideological control over Catholic Germans, was that the consequence was effectively to be in the pocket of Nazi Germany, they were powerless to object, and had to comply to survive.
