if a bird hasn't cheated on you or fucked you over in some explicit way, I can see 2 other legitimate reasons for dumping her:

1. she's interfering with your craft/art/profession
2. you found someone better

provided that the dude's not gay and using her as a beard, sounds like this likely falls under scenario 1. case closed.
