I bet we see a change in Ranger school very soon too. A change to make the requirements "more in line with the modern battlefield" or some shit, but really just an excuse to reduce the standards so all the chicks won't wash out again.

I think it might be about Marianne Faithfull and Pattie Harrison being among the rare women who performed on Beatles records, since they both sang backup on "Yellow Submarine."

The original poster didn't quote the linked story or give us any context as to what he's talking about, so my conclusion is that he is a Beatles fanatic.

Perhaps his name, RudeBoy, is an oblique reference to the Beatles love of ska, which can be heard on the instrumental break of "I Call Your Name" (go to 1:09).

Since the Soviets are gone there's not much of a real threat to submarines. USS Cole style events are rare. Maybe the brass figured having a few town bicycles on each submarine would relieve tension better than the blow up dolls they've been using.
