Same boat, like I mentioned, that speech was the "Set up" and hopefully this announcement will be the "spike" for making this an emergency.

It's not pointless. Trump is not doing this for childish reasons, but to make the Dem's come to the table.

It's not drama. He cancelled the trip to show how little of a shit the Dem's really care about, they were about to leave for overseas, instead of bargaining on the budget.

It is real change. You think any of the other candidates on the right would of done this?

Trump is playing their game and winning on this.

They don't want a border wall, fine, no funding for the what you want.

They claim their isn't enough security for a SOTU, fine, there's not enough security for you to travel overseas with unpaid federal workers.

Keep the government shut down, I don't care how long it takes, the odds are high the left will fold and throw more and more temper tantrums.

You basically illustrated my point Kaotic. I`m sure Trump can beat the Dem`s at these games, but it`s precisely these games that get in the way of real changes. Like the wall actually being built. How can things improve when the Dem`s are now in a position to sabotage more than pre mid-terms?

I`ll give Trump the benefit of doubt and say that`s he`s not playing this game on purpose, in order to create drama and entertainment for the sake misleading people that have hopes of real changes coming from his Presidency. But you have to ask why he didn`t do more when he had the house majority?

Explain to me the "hope of real change" that didn't happen before the mid terms.

Explain to me how he "didn't do more" when he had the house majority.

If you`ll explain to me what has really happened of substantial changes? Don`t get me wrong, I hope things will happen, and I still have some faith that they will. But I can`t see that much as of yet.

The deficits are continuing to increase. There is no real reduction in the size of the public sector etc. (draining the swamp) Why not try to push some of these things trough earlier. Why now when it`s a stalemate? There`s not much time left until the next election after all, and Trump will be busy campagning for a full year probably.

We will stomp to the top with the wind in our teeth.

I think he's trying to help americans by putting coin in their pocket if we so choose to capitalize on this gesture.
By doing so he becomes the good president they elected who they can further trust.
Once that's in the bag he can start to go to town on real big subjects whatever they may be.
The dems and every other entity throwing major roadblocks is not helping this and gives you rose-tinted glasses on what's truly shifting in our country.
Besides, someone has a list of all accomplishments he's done so far. Something like 285+ visible changes.
That's a start.

I doubt it. Remember that your lower level, millenial leftist isn't good at critical thinking. They're largely like trained dogs who emote in response to programmed cues like the word "racism" and "socialism". Easy_C

I've been on this thread since Page 1, I know exactly what he's done, spoiler alert, it's ALOT for the American people.

It's painfully clear alot of guys who are going black pill on Trump saying he's a nothing burger were never really on the train to begin with.

They're like fair weather sports fans.

Here's a list for starters:

President Donald J. Trump's Accomplishments List:

Now the key black pill holy trinity is usually the following:

-Drain the swamp
-Lock her up
-Wall

-If you'd been paying attention Trump has been pushing the wall since Day 1 in office - he was obstructed from Day 1, even in his OWN party. He's STILL working on it.

-Draining the swamp will take decades, and that's only dealing with his cabinet and party, imagine how long it would take on the lefts side of the swamp.

-Locking her up, I can admit was a pipe dream, but now more than ever the curtain has been lifted on all the swamp creatures for all too see.

The black pill holy trinity of justice is a pipe dream - at best it'll take a very long time.

Secondly, Trump isn't a dictator leading this country (contrary to popular liberal belief) - there ARE checks and balances.

Yes, the deep state is apart of this, however, under no circumstances do I want a dictator at the helm of America.

Would you want a Hillary/Warren/Biden with dictatorial powers? Hell no!

The announcement has to be the declaration of emergency right? Dems aren't participating at all, they aren't even going to the White House for negotiations anymore. No compromise is coming even though Trump has already conceded aspects of the wall to them, before getting anything. They wanted to go on a fucking trip to Afghanistan yesterday. I think he's exhausted his options. It would certainly gain respect and support from his base. Let our amazing military build it then.

Why declare an emergency now?
That's what we do when we can't break the enemy.

And we're winning.

Ordinarily I would respond to this and then I'd find that this is referencing some inside thing or joke on the forum that I don't know about. So I am going to assume that this is trolling. It's getting harder and harder to distinguish parody from reality these days.

Between direct foreign aid and tax breaks to Israeli government-related "nonprofits", we give Israel about $12 Billion in foreign aid. That's just the unclassified part: the real figure is much, much higher.

Plenty of room for the wall.

Trump should close down the border. Mexico is letting another caravan through when they could easily stop it. This is really an act of war. Mexico couldn't survive very long with the border closed. It's Trump's biggest weapon and it's within his power to use it. I will wait to see what his big announcement is tomorrow, but it better be more than just gab else our enemies aren't going to believe him anymore.

Because we needed to start building the steel slat barrier yesterday? And I think the Dems would be happy to sit around for a few months while it stays not built. What else could he announce? Closing the border maybe? What could he announce that would break them?

We can't just assume Trump will win a 2nd term. There might not be as much time as we'd like. And I don't know if I can say we're "winning" in regards to the border or government shutdown. We're coming to the table and offering things, they're not.

I would scrape coins, pennies, get donations from the girlfriends just to buy weight gainer and tubs of protein.

People need to understand that athletes in college will NEVER turn down free protein and carbs. I wish the "buzzfeed story was absolute shit" story was trending and widespread as far and wide as the original was yesterday, I really want to savour it. These absolute fucking scumbags.

AND THEY WILL ALL FACE LITERALLY NO REPERCUSSIONS.

There is no disincentive for any journalist to pull any of this shit. Oh, if only there were disincentives...

That Jeffrey Toobin on CNN clip is a great one though, a rare moment of clarity or just a bit of pandering that he said in order to go viral and "appear" unbiased? So good, in any case.

There is a case to be made for declaring an emergency and then re-openign the government.

With the government operations closed, like TSA and whatnot, there is a potential however small that a plane could crash or something that would kill a bunch of folk. Can you imagine the optics of that? This whole thing messes with people's lives. Trump as President has a pretty strong duty to protect the nation. He can't let the idiots like Pelosi put fucking people's lives at risk just to make political points. It's getting beyond normal negotiation.

Sure some people want the government closed, but that may not be the game he wants to play right now.

Sure some people want the government closed, but that may not be the game he wants to play right now.

Only non-essential employees are furloughed, TSA and the like are still running. I know they're running all these stories about TSA workers calling in sick and generally being terrible but they're still working, it's not open season at the airports.

The real story here is, if the media wasn't hyping it up, I imagine 99% of people wouldn't even know the government was "shut down". Basically just furloughed government employees or their family members.

Also, the media isn't reporting on how much the pressure is going to get to the Dems, just like the pressure the tariffs put on China. it was all "Trump's tariffs are going to tank the economy", all the time; when in reality you just need to stick with it, hold the course, and can win in the long run - China is seriously hurting now.

Here's what's more exciting though - it sounds like there's a solid avenue to pursue that doesn't require the National Emergencies Act. There's no worries about funding issues and no way congress can stop him, under Public Law 85-804 (credit to FTN which broke down the different wall-funding scenarios in an hour long podcast if anyone's interested, https://therightstuff.biz/2019/01/16/ftn...ositionism ), quote:

Quote:Public Law No. 85-804, codified at 50 U.S.C. § 1431-35 (Supp. IV 1998), grants to the President the authority to authorize any agency which exercises functions in connection with the national defense to enter into contracts or into amendments or modifications of contracts, and to make advance payments, without regard to other applicable legal provisions whenever such action would facilitate the national defense.

The law wasn't cited for years until Obama used it to idemnify.... USAID workers in Africa at risk of contracting ebola (??? - link to that story). Feels like a wall has way more "national defence" relevance than that...

The way they broke it down on the podcast, and they seem fairly confident in doing all their research and checking the other laws and codes it refers to, that this seems incredibly solid. All the Trump Administration has to do is give the armed services commitees in the house & senate 60 days notice that it's being invoked; and that's it. There used to be congressional oversight as part of that law but it was stripped out before the start of the Gulf War so congress can't stop it. No way for Pelosi to stop it.

And apparently there's no worries about tapping into a limited supply of funds like the National Emergencies Act would, this law literally transfers the "purse strings" power from the legislative to the executive branch. The Trump Administration can enter into contracts with a firm or multiple firms to build the full 25 billion dollar wall, fuck 'em all. Throw one on the northern border too while you're at it, the way my country's going you'll need it in a few years.

The law sounds powerful, almost too good to be true, but apparently it's solid. ACLU would surely launch a lawsuit immediately but while the 9th Circuit will likely do their shenanigans, by the letter of the law this should prevail, he has the authority. This massive law has been on the books for years and nobody's thought about it or worried about it because they've all been playing the same game, every president's been part of the Washington DC uniparty and nobody's ever had the balls to use it - Trump can be that guy who finally does.

But yeah, if anyone else is interested in 3 different scenarios where Trump can get the wall without needing congress, I'd check out the podcast I linked to.

How I wish there was enough time for people to get down there and start laughing at them as they got off that bus!

Oh dear, now even Muller is Russian...

Let me tell you, I found a Russian doll at the bottom of my closet last week. Even upon opening my cereal this morning, I noticed the dreaded Cyrillic letters among the product declarations - probably some sort of secret code to Muller warning him to wrap up the investigation before Kremlin releases a dossier regarding his octopus fetish.

WHERE DOES IT END???

Man. Never would I have guessed...

What were the odds Mueller would actively be labelled as a Russian agent...?
Could have made a mint!
