Technically, the Northern Ireland devolved government has been shut down for two years (and counting), so you've some way to go.

The fact I had forgotten it had ever happened goes to show what a total non-entity it is.

This shutdown is getting interesting. I'm in the DC area and these entitled assholes making 150k a year to do jack shit are squealing like stuck pigs because they might miss a paycheck. Meanwhile the rest of America realizes what a colossal fucking waste of money the Federal Government is.
Trump was smart about this - he kept all the important people around to the extent he could. 80/90% of the Fed Government is worthless. Obama, being the asshole that he was, tried to make it as painful as possible by taking away the 10% that had some value, hence closing parks and shit like that.

RE: The Donald Trump thread
Has anybody compared Trump media treatment of the shutdown versus the Obama shutdown? I didn't watch the news during the Obama era but I'd have to imagine the media was yanking teeth and branding the GOP the evil white party for refusing to negotiate. Just browsing through the MSM shrieking you see the "think of the children" type coverage. Arguably President Trump has been doing the environment a favor by cutting government down.

Let's keep the government shut down for the next 5 years AND cut the backpay. As far as I know the sky hasn't fallen and I'm still living with a roof over the top of my head. The tallyman has cometh and it's time to pay what's due for these rat bastards that are about as useful as the Kardashians.

It's kind of eerie to see stacks of Mickey D products with gold chandeliers, silver trays on a $100,000 Cuban mahogany Federalist extra long antique table. It's kind of a badass populist statement Trump is making here...

This being said, and at the risk of outing myself as a blue state bourge, there is a Five Guys literally 3 blocks from the White House, I mean cold Big Macs are pretty gross.

You know who REALLY needs to get deported isn't the Mexicans, it's those cameramen.
You're starting a visual of Donald Trump in the White House banquet room, wildly grinning behind a table laden with Big Macs and Wendy's chicken nuggets beneath golden chandeliers. It's easily the most remarkable, unbelievable image of the 21st century.

AND YOU CAN'T TAKE A PICTURE WITHOUT SOMEBODY ELSE'S CAMERA IN THE SHOT?

Off to Mexico with you, buddy. I don't care if you were born in New Hampshire. You're not welcome in our country anymore.

Speaking of lefty tears. This may cause quite the flood... :

ABC’s Karl: ‘Zero Evidence’ that Trump or Campaign Colluded with Russians

Monday on ABC’s “The View,” ABC News chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl said there has been “zero evidence” on “the central question of did Donald Trump or anybody in his campaign coordinate or collude with the Russians.”

Karl said, “We are now just, I believe, weeks away from getting a final report from Robert Mueller, and there is so much anticipation, so much speculation about what he is going to show. He’s been looking into, you know, this whole range of issues. And I am led to believe by people who have interacted with the special counsel that we should be prepared for him to release a report that is anti-climactic.”

He continued, “He’s already gotten more than 30 indictments, the president’s inner circle, his campaign chairman convicted, his national security adviser indicted, his personal lawyer. You know, so much has already been there. But on the central question of did Donald Trump or anybody in his campaign coordinate or collude with the Russians in their effort to meddle in the 2016 campaign, we have seen zero evidence of that.”

Agree its a populist statement, kind of Ghetto Fabulous stuff. Trump took what he was initially mocked about and is now making it cool. The left wing media can try to mock this, but its feel good story with the Clemoson NCAA Champs. Plays to his base. Hometown Championship football parties always have burgers and pizza.

RE: The Donald Trump thread
Trump choice to replace Kavanaugh's old seat wrote articles pointing blame at women for date rape

[Image: 181113144919-neomi-rao---1-exlarge-169.jpg]

Quote:Neomi Rao, President Donald Trump's choice to take the DC Circuit seat vacated by Justice Brett Kavanaugh, has a history of controversial writings, including authoring articles attributing some blame to women for being raped under the influence of alcohol.

The findings from the progressive advocacy group Alliance for Justice came as Rao's nomination continues to await further consideration in the Senate, several months removed from Kavanaugh's successful but fraught confirmation to the Supreme Court, a controversy largely defined by allegations of sexual misconduct against women. Kavanaugh denied the claims.

The group's findings came from articles she wrote in the 1990s at a handful of outlets at Yale University and the Washington Times just before and after her college graduation. The topics include writings raising questions about alcohol and sexual consent along with other comments on gender and race.

"Unless someone made her drinks undetectably strong or forced them down her throat, a woman, like a man, decides when and how much to drink. And if she drinks to the point where she can no longer choose, well, getting to that point was part of her choice," read a 1994 article titled "Shades of Gray."

The same article said, "A man who rapes a drunk girl should be prosecuted. At the same time, a good way to avoid a potential date rape is to stay reasonably sober."

A 1993 article titled "The Feminist Dilemma" said, "Women believe falsely that they should be able to go anywhere with anyone."

"Although I am certainly not arguing that date rape victims ask for it, when playing the modern dating game women have to understand and accept the consequences of their sexuality," the article read. "Some feminists chant that women should be free to wear short skirts or bright lipstick, but true sexual signals lie beyond these blatant signs."

In another article titled "How the diversity game is played," Rao lambasted "multiculturalists."

"Underneath their touchy-feely talk of tolerance, they seek to undermine American culture," the article read. "They argue that culture, society and politics have been defined -- and presumably defiled -- by white, male heterosexuals hostile to their way of life. For example, homosexuals want to redefine marriage and parenthood; feminists in women's studies programs want to replace so-called male rationality with more sensitive responses common to womyn. It may be kinder and gentler, but can you build a bridge with it?"

The White House and Justice Department did not return requests for comment from CNN.

BuzzFeed News was first to report on the Alliance for Justice's findings, and noted that similar language on race within the article review was part of Trump's unsuccessful nomination of Ryan Bounds to the 9th Circuit. BuzzFeed also noted that in a 1994 article, Rao referred to gay rights as a "trendy" political movement. In its report on Rao's writings, Mother Jones noted that in 1992, she dismissed the greenhouse effect, depletion of the ozone layer and acid rain as "the three major environmental boogeymen."

In a statement to BuzzFeed, Kurri Kupec, a spokeswoman for the Department of Justice, defended Rao.

"Neomi Rao is a renowned constitutional and administrative law expert. That is why the President nominated her to the D.C. Circuit. The views she expressed a quarter century ago as a college student writing for her student newspaper were intentionally provocative, designed to raise questions and push back against liberal elitism that dominated her campus at the time," Kupec said to BuzzFeed. "More than two decades later, her views can be found in her numerous academic articles and speeches. We are confident Ms. Rao will make an exemplary judge on the D.C Circuit."

Nan Aron, president of the Alliance for Justice, told CNN that she thought Rao's views were "completely disqualifying" for a lifetime appointment to such a key judicial post and that the views expressed in their review "demonstrate a real hostility to the very individuals and groups that would appear before her on the court."

Rao joined the Trump administration as administrator of the Office of Information of Regulatory Affairs within the White House Office of Management and Budget, and with the change in Congress at the start of the new year, it is up to Trump whether to send her nomination back to the Senate.

Trump really loves his Indians. She said nothing wrong...

I don't think Trump and Betsy Devos get enough credit for ending the "Dear Colleague" Obama rules on stopping campus assaults aka ending due process in colleges. Its something that flew under the radar and even his supporters dont mention it. I have no idea if it turned out the way it did (the msm raging that Devos is "ending protections for women in campuses" is a good sign) but Pres Trump and Devos deserve credit (I know she is hated for Common Core or something).

Honestly there are times when I get tired of Trump with all the unforced eras, not f-ing hiring people loyal to him, Jared and Ivanka, seemingly not giving a crap about his supporters being beaten up by antifa and a ton of other things but I think a lot of subtle good things he does gets underappreciated. I do not regret voting for him.

Hey fellas, sorry I haven't been posting more, lots to talk about someday (hopefully soon).

But right now, I've received this email this morning, from the special WH list I am on, with a link to call into the WH and speak to officials about the wall:

http://ems9.intellor.com/?do=register&t=1&p=900517

It's at 2:30pm EST. I am not sure I can make any calls, but perhaps some here would be interested in talking.

Give them encouragement, advice, whatever. I personally want them to shift the focus away from getting money for the wall, and making the emphasis on changing the legal framework for immigration since without good laws, the wall is just a piece of metal that no one will be allowed to defend.

I'm on the same boat too. Are there things that President Trump does that bewilders me? Yes. Javanka, globalist appointments like Mattas, and Soros and Clinton still running free. Obama set the standard on calling justice before the proceedings, so why can't President Trump harangue the nation about Antifa in that same manner? Part of it is himself (don't blame him too much as he is only fighting an entire establishment out to get him) and part of it is a stubborn Congress that continues to drag its feet. We still have to sic that bear and that liver eating eagle out for Paul Ryan.

If I were to grade him as of now with a plus minus scale:
Domestically: B. What will kill him is if he makes an Obamacare like blunder. Impeachment hearings will only make him more popular. Getting under liberals' skin in icing on the cake and it makes the general population question the narrative the media hammers.

Foreign policy: A. Much better than Obama and Bush and as of now we're not balls deep in another middle east quagmire. God forbid we fight Russia.

Overall: B+, could go down as an all time great and with his ego that has to be in the back of his mind.

With that being said, I'd vote for him again in a heartbeat. Some of the older people I have talked to said just in 2 years he's as good if not even better than Reagan.

I personally want them to shift the focus away from getting money for the wall, and making the emphasis on changing the legal framework for immigration since without good laws, the wall is just a piece of metal that no one will be allowed to defend.

Based on some of his statements, he seems to be waiting for the DACA stuff to be struck down by the Supreme court. He said they were close to a deal until the liberal courts decided he couldn't rescind a executive order and the Dems walked at that point.

Now you got Kushner and Graham basically giving that away for the border wall funding. They do that and Trump has no leverage to get chain migration and visa lotteries stopped.
