I don't think anybody scoffs at the idea that there are powerful families/elites influence in the way that many things operate both out in front and behind the scenes, but to state "Soros himself funded Trump Chicago" as if that was somehow overwhelming evidence that Trump is nothing but a puppet is laughable.

The Daily Beast tries really hard to say[/url] Soros directly loaned Trump money, but when you dig into it all that's true is that 1 of 3 hedge funds is "Soros backed" (which I've yet to find details on, this could mean a wide range of investment level from Soros) and that in total they loaned him $160 million. This is far, FAR from a direct loan from Soros.

Daily Yeast Article Quote:
Quote:The pair’s relationship goes back more than a decade. In 2004, Soros lent Trump a cool $160 million to help with the construction of Trump International Hotel & Tower in Chicago, the Chicago Tribune reported. At the time, some Chicagoans were skeptical that Trump would ever get his tower built. The project, after all, was yuuuge.

Chicago Tribune ACTUAL report wording (not as "interpreted" by the Daily Yeast):
Quote:Donald Trump has lined up three New York hedge funds, including money from billionaire George Soros, to invest $160 million in his Chicago skyscraper, a key piece in perhaps the largest construction financing in the city's history, according to real estate sources and public documents.

The Daily Yeast goes on to write (the important parts in my bold emphasis):
Quote:On Sept. 10, 2008, real estate developer Leslie Dick Worldwide Ltd. named both of them (along with 15 other defendants) in a lawsuit over the sale of the General Motors Building in Manhattan, as the trade publication Pensions & Investments reported.

Leslie Dick Worldwide alleged that the defendants engaged in a conspiracy of money laundering, bankruptcy fraud, and bid rigging when Trump and Conseco Finance contracted to sell the building in 2003, as The New York Sun detailed. The developer said Soros masterminded a scheme to keep it from buying the building, even though it outbid the eventual purchaser, Macklowe Properties Inc. Leslie Dick Worldwide’s complaint held that Soros gave Macklowe the funds to buy the building—which led to the allegations of money laundering.

And it said the process of selling the building was “permeated with fraud.” The New York Sun reported that when the building was sold, it bore the word TRUMP “in huge gold-colored letters.”

The lawsuit didn’t go anywhere. Court filings show a judge dismissed it “without prejudice” and that the case was terminated on Oct. 10, 2009. That means the plaintiff could file it again, but records show that hasn’t happened—making it a shared victory for Trump and Soros.

Oh my god, a shared victory for Trump and Soros and FIFTEEN other defendants. Drumpf is over, this is certainly the end of him.

Yep, Soros is just total besties with Trump. Check it out from the Daily Yeast:

That BBC article is a bit misleading.

They don't sell a lot of Focuses (Foci?) in the US as it is, but sell a lot of them other places. In fact, the article already says they already make them in China.

Have a nice day.

Aloha!

Focus - like other small cars - are low-margin vehicles in terms of profit in the United States. They have always been loss-leaders to hedge against the Japanese/Koren entrants and - as of late - to bolster CAFE numbers.

Regionalizing production is intelligent and forward-thinking - the largest market for BMW and Mercedes SUVs in the US, which is why they are made here; ditto for the Tundra, Titan, Avalon, Tacoma, etc. -, something we should be encouraging our American companies to be doing.

The other half of the story is that the Wayne, MI plant is being retooled for the forthcoming USDM Ranger and Bronco - certainly higher-margin, higher-profit vehicles for Ford.

President Trump is scheduled to arrive at an 8pm EST rally in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I'm guessing he'll start speaking in about 45 minutes.

Livestream above.

Great rally. T was energized from the GA-06 win, as well he should be, and he was in top form, flowing and relaxed. He's gotten exceptionally good at weaving his extended adlibs around the Stephen Miller script.

The most overwhelming impression that T gives if you just listen to him is that of a man who's got his priorities straight. It's incredible that so many ghouls and haters refuse to see this; but plenty of normal people do and will continue to support him for this simple reason.

The cornfed Iowa sluts in the front row were duly noted; good white meat and high fructose corn syrup for a hot summer night's post-T rally roll in the hay. Maybe it's a Cedar Rapids centipede's night to get lucky.

Eric Holder is starting to sniff around for 2020.

Eric is no threat. We can roll out a toliet paper of shit he's done. Especially if Trump pulls out that Fast and Furious stuff and hits him over the head as a Globalist that helped Obama destabilize Latin America turning at least a few countries into violent hellholes. He should actually call him a Globalist publically since lots of disaffected progressives are cannibalizing each other over Globalism.

Eric would get at least 80% black vote just because he is black, liberal, and well spoken. I would not be surprised if he got 90% honestly, but that isn't enough. Most blacks are either jealous of Trump or too put off that he is nothing like Obama (based on the fact most of us have to be many times more polished than our white peers to get the same success in life, the Fratboy Chad effect), when that is not a fair comparison in this situation.

Statesmen like FDR, Lincoln, or Obama are usually best compared with each other. Jackson, Trump, Teddy types are better compared to each other as well in regards to decorum, etc. Perhaps someday a rootin tootin black dude that is politically incorrect and swears will be president, so that they can chill the fuck out on that.

Trump has enough black support to deny 100% democrat black voter base, which would be important because Hillary did not get enough black voters to come out, like Obama did, which Holder could. Trump has enough Latino vote to prevent 100% vote for Democrat as well. How Holder would do with Latino voters is too far to guess on, because there is no telling how they feel about him and that F&F scandal, but I am sure he will be on an open borders platform to woo them over, which will completely fuck him over on moderate white vote and conservative black and Latino vote.

More importantly is the rule of thumb that favors incumbents regardless of the political wind. It is very hard to unseat an incumbent.

He does have some personality challenges for sure, just like Cain did. He is more likeable than Cain, but he is alot more like a Jesse Jackson running for president and that shit isn't going to fly in today's political climate. If he tries to shift more right toward the center, he will be called out hardcore for being a hypocrite liberal in sheep's clothing.

Obama had a slight advantage by being a huge fan of Reagan and being on record as a neocon votes wise. Aside from his dynamic and rare speaking style, he had moderate voter appeal from the beginning. He shifted super far left on his second term, and I betcha white folks did not forget that nor appreciate it either. They will not forget about that on Eric's turn either, since they are buddies. Eric is on record of being very liberal from the early parts of his career. He cannot flip flop and get away with anything.

Obama had the advantage of being a new face to the national public, Holder is to attached to Obama's legacy, and anything from Obama will stick to him, like the big slush fund to far left groups, Holder is not a new face to the national public, and the thing Dems need right now is new faces.

RE: The Donald Trump thread
I watched the Iowa rally while it was being streamed on Facebook. Good stuff, he was hitting on a lot of the core campaign promises such as the wall (with solar panels!) and also made a quick quip about foreign policy about the failed policies of "going into other countries and telling them what to do". It's got me feeling a bit more confident. There's been times where Trump has had to compromise a bit because of the forces he's dealing with and because of behind the scenes circumstances that we don't know about but it's good to see that he still has those goals in mind even if he can't always 100% achieve them given the way politics are.

Trump also said he planned to push for a universal immigration policy for the USA: Only those who can pay for themselves are allowed to come, a total ban of any welfare for 5 years or more.

This would seriously impact Democratic constituencies, I expect the Dems to absolutely crazy over this.

RE: The Donald Trump thread
I want to tie a lot of different threads together without being either incoherent or way too wordy.

First off, Adam Gingrich was very happy after Karen Handel won, suggesting that good trolling would be that Donald Trump (or Russia) deliberately ran crappy Karen Handel so that the Democrat's would think they could win, so that they'd spend over 30 million, just to lose by over five points.

Laugh3

-------

Second, Anonymous Bosch dismissed the Trump campaign (mostly) on the grounds that "You can't shitpost a revolution." This came after Ghost Tiger dismissed Scott Adams for "not being a real conservative" and "not liking children" and "being an entryist" - but before Samseau rebutted Anonymous Bosch's criticisms as being too harsh and too contrary to the crucial need to maintain the moral high ground.

My first thought on Election Night when Pennsylvania was called was, "Holy shit, the normies decided to give us a chance." I don't think most RVF members understand just how isolated this forum is, especially in terms of ideas. Our knowledge is literally quite valuable (given how much money we win through political betting), but think how hard it would be to explain something like a Hotep to a politically disinterested normie! Even explaining the depth of what we know about the Trump campaign is difficult for us to explain, and for them to grasp.

Ghost Tiger, I don't know where you got the sense that Scott Adams is a conservative because I've never heard him claim to be one. He's always struck me as Very Intelligent plus Very, Very Open - which produces a panoply of weird ideas, most of which are liberal. Scott Adams' greatest strength is to persuasively explain what the Normies are thinking and feeling - but especially feeling.

If you watch too much television, you'll think gays comprise roughly 10% of the population, when they really only comprise less than 1%. (This is over a tenfold error, which is massive.) Similarly, if you read too much RVF, you'll think SJWs comprise over half of Liberal America, which is also at least a tenfold overestimation.

Scott Adams tells you what Normies are thinking by being Very Liberal while also being viscerally disgusted by SJWs.

This Periscope is a great example, which both agrees with Sandra's rebuttal of Anonymous Bosch and came one day before Samseau's rebuttal post.

I strongly recommend that every Trump supporter listen to the first 25 minutes of that Periscope. Scott's major thesis is that it's unconvincing to "use the same tactics against them, that they used against us" because the better move is the High Ground Maneuver. Admit your mistakes, vow to learn from them and become better by that learning; don't blame the other side, because it looks like you're committed to making that same mistake over and over again.

His first minor thesis is that progressive tactics didn't really help them win anything, because Republicans control all aspects of government AND because he hated living in a country where progressive tactics abounded. And his second minor thesis is that Jack Posobiec's interruption of the Caesar play was pitch perfect: it cost no one any money (he hates economic protests that either target advertisers or cost people jobs), it started a new conversation about the validity of those presidential assassination images, it added to the play (by being entertaining), it used words only (no violence) to promote a specific, easily understood message, and it was spontaneous. (Listen well enough, and you'll hear all of the numerous Anti-SJW messages in his praise of Jack Posobiec!)

To me, the ultimate secret is that Scott Adams doesn't study History. Before I started studying history, I was convinced that this current conflict was utterly unique - which gives the opportunity for a unique resolution. Vox Day, a great foil to Scott's optimism, has studied a lot of history, and has said, "Those who never study history are doomed to repeat its mistakes." Vox's sense of history is why he's utterly cynical about the future of peace in America and in Europe - but Scott's non-sense of history is why he's so optimistic about the future of peace in those places.

------

Third, my favorite part of tonight's Trump rally was this intro speech by Lara Trump. You could tell she has no political rally experience, because she had no sense of how to rile up the crowd. But her message was confident, simple, and genuinely feminine.

------

Fourth, we all know that the Democrats spent over 30 million in Georgia, and utterly lost. But you don't know what they did with that money unless you read this Tweetstorm. (Required Reading! Sorry, but you need to read it all to get a sense of how fucked up Democrat election tactics are.)

------

Fifth, a brief summary of the rally.

Before I read TLOZ's summary, my word to describe the crowd's mood was BUSINESSLIKE. The raucous energy of the campaign is gone, and is replaced by a watchful, serious, silent hope that things will get better.

While the previous Pennsylvania rally was designed to sooth a crowd which may have panicked due to Trump-Russia fake news, this rally was designed to reassure a confused (but not hostile, and not panicking) crowd that President Trump was fighting a difficult fight and that he knows the nature and purpose of that fight.

Mentioned: Jobs, Health Care, Taxes, Ethanol Businesses in Iowa.

Not Mentioned: The Wall, Flynn, Antifa, Trump-Russia investigation, Mueller, Comey, the FBI.

Thesis: "This shit is fucking hard. Congress, especially Democrat obstruction, is our primary roadblock. But I'm not giving up, and I know you haven't given up. Thank you."

Most important moment: If you didn't read Will Collier's tweetstorm, you won't really appreciate this! But there was one protester who needed to be carted away.

Get this, though. Pay attention! Don't have any food or drink in your mouth. I mean it!

The protester "introduced himself" (for lack of a better word) at the exact same moment President Trump mentioned Steve Scalise, the Republican Senator who got shot this past week!

President Trump didn't call attention to this, but I sure as shit noticed it. What a fucking disaster.

Overall, while I miss the raucous energy, I think the serious mood of the crowd is much better for the country. And I'm happy to report that the Left is still extraordinarily fucked in the head.

At worst, Trump is the better side of the establishment. Yes he's underperformed on some issues but he's also delivered on others.

One good bellwether is the global warming scam, Trump is throwing a big wrench into the globalists plans. He is though a tremendously polarizing figure, who galvanizes the left and thus helps the globalists get the leftists in line with their agendas, so I kind of see how you can interpret him as some kind of controlled opposition.

I didn't say I ever got the sense he is a conservative, I said I got the sense he is a shifty little motherfucker who likes to permit his followers to mistakenly believe that he is a conservative. And I stand by my analysis.

Scott is very good at explaining how Trump uses rhetoric effectively and he began doing this well very early on in the Trump campaign. Then Scott took a lot of heat for his efforts as the left incorrectly identified him as a Trump supporter. This is ironic because it looked to me like he was analyzing Trump's rhetorical success in order to HELP THE LEFT figure out why Trump was winning before it was too late. Scott's mistake was his failure to understand, as you so eloquently described, just how isolated smart guys like us (and Scott) are from the drooling masses of left. Indeed... Scott failed to note MPAI (Most People Are Idiots). As such, his analysis was understood and appreciated by Trump's supporters and only served to instill fear and confusion in the left, so the left attacked. This caused real harm to Scott as he lost income from sponsors and advertisers who were converged and feared the leftist mob that was publicly attacking him. So then what was poor little Scott to do? Well, he is a clever guy, so he started doing Periscope videos where he makes himself look like a pathetic little unshaven hobo begging on the street (he even holds his little cup the whole time!)

The thing is, like Aristotle when he's writing to us in "Rhetoric", Scott is actually USING the very tactics he is describing to us. It's you watching me watching you watching City TV (sorry... inside joke for people from Toronto). It's recursion.

Listen, I think Scott has provided valuable insight into how Trump was so successful and helped us understand how valuable rhetorical skill is in this culture war. I just don't believe Scott is really on our side, and I think Scott would prefer if we did believe that. So I'm calling him out as a liberal. That's it. That's all.

Then we are in 100% agreement and I don't know what we're debating about. You might note that some other forum members have expressed appreciation in my calling Scott out in this manner. I was not alone in my analysis, I was just the one who spoke out. I have a big mouth. It's a curse.

I completely agree that we should continue to listen to what Scott has to say. His analysis is very insightful. I don't want him to be trusted as a leader, though, for the same reason I don't want Andrew Scheer to be trusted as a leader... they're not on our side. They're #Collaborators. And I'm calling them out.

As much as I'd like Antifa to get what's coming to them, that's a bit much even for me if it's true.

Check out my occasionally updated travel thread - The Wroclaw Gambit II: Dzięki Bogu - as I prepare to emigrate to Poland.

This is, generally speaking, the standard procedure when residents of a poor country are trying to enter a more affluent nation. My wife is Dominican and she had to show $1,000 cash at the Panama City airport to enter the country (this was for a week stay). To visit Mexico, she had to provide a shit load of documentation: bank statements, letter of employment, proof of assets, etc. If Mexico has the right to require financial statements from the people of a poor country, then the US should have a similar right.

Trump's plan is fair..and it's in keeping with the immigration practices throughout the world.

I've been playing in the Ethereum thread so I haven't had time to look at the latest going ons. I came back to find an awful lot of bitching and infighting about... well, I'm not really clear what. Trump is a Soros puppet? Really?

Trump just played Comey-He claimed to have tapes, Comey thinks he has tapes, Comey testifies under oath while thinking there are tapes, Comey's testimony has nothing incriminating, Comey is under oath so he cannot modify what he said, Trump says he has no tapes, Comey cannot change his testimony to implicate Trump, and it is game over for possible Trump obstruction charges. Game over, fuck close bitch! Anal too!

RE: The Donald Trump thread
I hope Pelosi stays in till she's fucking 85. The dementia setting in has made her 'speeches' increasingly hilarious. I'm not sure why she has so much leverage over the other leftists but they're afraid to get rid of her for some reason. I guess it's structured like a hierarchy with an obvious disregard for competence anyways. Pointing out incompetence is the antithesis of what they believe in anyways.
