Yes, you're right. When my president bombs a sovereign country without even consulting Congress in violation of the US Constitution, I pay attention to it. Perhaps I was indeed "hyper attuned" to the situation. If every American isn't hyper attuned to their country dropping bombs, then that's just a shameful situation. Americans need to watch less Honey Boo Boo and read more news.

And why is Gary Johnson crazy? Do you think Gary Johnson would fly to Florida every week to play golf while taking two 747's, a C-17 cargo plane, and dozens of Secret Service agents? No way. Gary Johnson cares about your taxdollars. Just like he saved New Mexico over a billion dollars in the 8 years he was governor.

How do you know I'm wearing New Balance? Can you see me right now?

What shoe should I be wearing to be in with the cool group? And what jeans should I wear? Are Wranglers ok?

Wranglers are fine brother!

I don't want to cause a ruckus, but what do you mean 'our patriotism' from that earlier post? I believe you said you are an American citizen, but if you already went ex-pat, living abroad now, why do you care so much? Wouldn't your host country's politics be much more imperative to your life?

Isn't it a bit irrelevant for you now? Or no? If I'm wrong, I'd be ok to walk my comment back in the kennel. Just curious to the minds that are becoming more frequent in the thread. No disrespect intended if you are headed back soon though. If I missed that, please disregard my questions.
Gustavus, I spend as much time overseas as possible. But in between, my work is in the USA. I have a house in the US, and as such, I'm still very concerned about the politics of my nation.

I don't understand why people demand that others qualify our worthiness as citizens to question our government. And I'm not speaking of you, I'm talking of society as a whole. It's as if I, an American citizen, need to somehow earn my right to speak up when I think my government is wrong. And I vehemently disagree with that premise.

If I do in fact need to earn the prerogative to question the United States government, here's mine: I joined the United States Marines when I was 17 and I was in a rifle company for 5 years. Afterwards, I served the United States of America as a civilian GS-13 for many years. During that time, I learned that the government does more fucked up shit than the average American can ever fathom.

Yeah, I'm suspicious of my government. Because I know what kinds of evil they're capable of, and much of their doings are completely immoral and unjust. I grew up as a child with Ronny Reagan as my president and thought my government could do no wrong. Americans were the good guys. And then I joined up with the government and I discovered that we're not always the guy with the white hat on the white horse.

I'm not anti-Trump. If some of you are diligent enough to read through all my posts, then you'll see that I recently stated more than once that I was about to board the Trump train. I want the man to do well. Why would I wish my country failure? That would mean failure for me, and I don't want that.

I think perhaps it's wise that we create another Trump thread where dissent is allowed. The rah rah Trump people can post only nice things in here, and in the other thread, the rest of us can have honest debates about his mistakes without hearing about 5D chess.

Thank you for your reply. This is a great post!

I chose to ask these questions to you for a reason. I remember you talking about a time in border patrol. Taking on a large opposition, I know you are trained to do that.

It does not surprise me to see you stand your ground here. It is what I expected and that is a good thing.

But if you were in the trenches, against the opposition, and some of the men that were supposed to have your 6, started emotionally swaying more rapidly than the flag in the wind, how would you respond? Since we, this nation, had no other choice but complete failure, is it wrong to ask- and command if needed- to simply hold fast one more minute to see what problems truly exist rather than the conclusions we allow ourselves to jump towards?

As was mentioned previously, our president is simply a human. No more, no less. Mistakes and growing pains are expected. Those that have the voice should not feel imprisoned to keep quiet about their opinion. But they should keep that thought in mind. One guy. Could be any of us in that seat.

Those of us, like you and me, cannot be swayed long term. There is plenty of negativity and pessimism around us - both here and walking our streets. We made it through 44, we'll make it through 45... good, bad, or ugly.

Patriotism depends on that.

You are unbelievably dishonest. No one said you have to qualify your worthiness as a citizen to question the gov't (which is not what you have been doing)

Two big lies in one statement.

You make false claims about what the President has done (or not done) will do (or won't do) and you keep saying them even when there is evidence to the contrary.

Your comments are often snarky, lack basis in fact, and purposely offensive to other posters who don't agree with you.

Because of the nature of your shitty posts, other posters rightfully question why they should waste their time explaining shit to you since you disregard everything that contradicts your crap posts and keep on with the same tired mantra.

Virtue signaling with the expectation that peacetime veteran status (which you conveniently leave out) gives you some carte blanche check to say all sorts of stupid shit as mentioned above on the false premise that your "worthiness" as a citizen to question the gov't needs to be proven. Never happened. Perfect example of how you misstate something then play victim.

It's your worthiness as a low quality post forum member that is being challenged, not as a citizen. Fast Eddie for example doesn't hold back, but his posts are grounded in reality. I think his criticisms are legitimate, I disagree with how fast the thinks things should be done. That's not what you do. You make comments calling President Trump a fascist then whine about not being taken seriously.

Also, say what you were personally involved in that's so "fucked up", my guess is you didn't do jack shit while you were a border patrol flunky except what you could get away with when you were by yourself or one or two other guys.

Stop being purposefully vague. You want people to think you were some former CIA/Delta operative. That may work for you in shitty gringo bars overseas but here there's people with enough knowledge about real operators that can smell your bullshit. One of my best friends is an active operator and has been for over a decade.

Same thing, you purposefully want people to think your experience as a "GS-13" was where you realized "Americans were not the good guys" but that's not really how you came to that conclusion.

Classic. First you bitch about your worthiness being questioned and now you tell us we have to be "diligent" to find a post where you were "about" to board the Trump train.

So which is it? If you have quality, constructive posts then we shouldn't have to be diligent and your "worthiness" to persuade you to be "on the train" wouldn't be questioned.

(04-15-2017 01:48 AM)BrewDog Wrote:  I want the man to do well. Why would I wish my country failure? That would mean failure for me, and I don't want that.

Logical fallacy designed to mislead the reader. You can simultaneously not want the country to fail, while also troll this thread. You aren't interested in real discussion. You want to troll and hide behind Veteran status (which no one asked for and is irrelevant to why you were challenged).

More misdirection and fake appeal to reason and honesty.

It's you that wouldn't shut up about 5D chess.

It's you that for some reason can't see all the other posters having dissenting opinions.

It's you that keeps misstating things in order to troll the thread.

Perfect example.

President Trump works on the golf course, at dinner, and is famous for his work ethic. He's done more at the golf course for the country than Obama in 8 years just with jobs.

Of course, and no one suggested you should not be attuned to it, least of all me.

The point was clearly that you and many others have been selectively choosing what to notice. And then on top of that, what a few guys have selected to notice it turns out it wasn't even what they feared it was.

So it's reading the news about Syria for you, but then back to Honey Boo Boo for the rest of the 95% of news.

That's what I'm talking about.

Well, good sir, we often talk of being alpha here. Do I earn any respect from anyone for allowing someone to walk all over me?

Pardon me for sticking up for myself. But I have a bit of pride and I don't owe anyone anything other than being a standup guy. And I believe that I am that guy.

If I'm banned for having the cajones to defend myself in an honorable fashion, then by god man, kick me.

RE: The Donald Trump thread
Here's the latest post from the Anonymous Conservative.

Anonymous Conservative Wrote:President Trump Uses Amygdala To Prevent Illegal Immigration

A genius who uses every tool at his disposal:

News Article Wrote:President Donald Trump has won the first major battle in his war on illegal immigration and he did it without building his wall.

The victory was announced last week by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which released figures showing a 93% drop since December of parents and children caught trying to cross the Mexico border illegally.

In December, 16,000 parents and children were apprehended; in March, a month in which immigration typically increases because of temperate weather, the number was just over 1,100.

It was a remarkable decline – steeper than the 72% drop in overall apprehensions – but for eight DHS officials interviewed by Reuters it was not surprising…

In the months since Trump‘s inauguration, DHS has rolled out a range of policies aimed at discouraging women from attempting to cross the border, including tougher initial hurdles for asylum claims and the threat of prosecuting parents if they hire smugglers to get their families across the border.

The department has also floated proposals such as separating women and children at the border.

DHS Secretary John Kelly told a Senate hearing on April 5 that the sharp drop in illegal immigration, especially among women and children, was due to Trump‘s tough policies.

To date, it has been the threat of new policies rather than their implementation that has suppressed family migration.

Mothers and children aren’t being separated – and DHS has shelved the plan; parents haven’t been prosecuted and there is no wall along most of the border. Yet the number of migrants trying to cross – especially women and children – has dropped drastically.

Migrants are r-strategists, and any amygdala stimulation can easily dissuade their migration. If there is any chance the land they are migrating to will exhibit K-selection, r-strategist migrants will be well served to stay home. As a result, they have evolved a high sensitivity and aversion to any amygdala-stimulation. It is how they are designed. Here, just the rumor of a possible threat is enough to make them stay home.

It is so dumbfounding to actually see a leader who isn’t just pretending to lead the country, but who is actually so focused on accomplishment that he will use any tool at his disposal to accomplish the objective of Making America Great Again.

Where other politicians talked about principles, struck respectable poses, and then let the country decline, President Trump disregards everything except accomplishing his objective of saving the nation. He is practically the Jack Bauer of political policy. Combined with a savant level understanding of psychology, the result is incredibly impressive. This may be the greatest President in history that we are looking at in action, right at the most critical moment for the nation.

Never think God will ever give up on America.

RE: The Donald Trump thread
It's important to mention, while some are unhappy about this phrase or that statement, Trump has made a huge step in the goal of a more advantageous relationship with China, and begun what could become the most incredible re-alignment of alliances we've ever seen if it continues. And most of this happened talking a man over a weekend in Florida (You know, one of those terribly expensive golf trips).

And this only became possible by using tough talk and threatening punitive action up until now. In the end we are getting things we want out of China, things they've never done before, by not doing something. Think of that!

When people sneer at the talk of The Art of the Deal, or when they deride the idea of changes in rhetoric being T's negotiation tactics as just an "excuse" for his "betrayal" ...I think it's pretty clearly incorrect.

I love the innovation of American companies Laugh

So, with all the drama, Globalman's post sort of got lost in the static (and this one might too apparently).

I'd been thinking "why nuclear waste?". It was only this morning that I had a lightbulb moment regarding such a move (and I'll apologise in advance if it's already been noted).

Making nuclear waste storage part and parcel of the wall has two massively important facets that would skate under most people's radars.

1) It would add notably to the cost of building it, but it would make the cost of unbuilding it astronomically higher.

2) It would mean that The Wall™ would be governed by all international wartime treaties relating to the target classifications of nuclear materials. Or in other words, nobody in the world could shell it or bomb it or so much as shoot a pistol at it without instantly committing a level 1trillion war crime.

I don't know, but I'm hoping "nuclear waste" is a code name that President Trump and the Wall construction company use to refer to Hillary Clinton.

Many of the over-literal Trump critics would even complain that they didn't support the idea of "Locking Her Up" like that.

On a more serious note, even if the nuclear waste isn't lethal, there has to be at least some South Americans who think that it would. Brilliant psychological barrier.
