RE: The Donald Trump thread
Associated Press finally realises Trump is playing them -- and yet still buys into his frame in the process:

http://www.news.com.au/world/north-ameri...875960c04d

Quote:DONALD Trump’s favourite nickname for the news media is the “dishonest press”.

He swaps in “disgusting press” from time to time.

And sometimes, he puts it all together: “disgusting, dishonest human beings”.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee has a whole menu of take-downs for individual reporters and news organisations.

In recent weeks, he’s used his microphone and his tweets to label them “third-rate,” “not nice,” “disgraceful,” “phony,” “low-life,” “very unprofessional” and “bad people.”

Or, for extra emphasis in a tweet, “BAD”.

He’s also been quick to yank or withhold credentials from news organisations whose coverage he doesn’t like — most recently, The Washington Post.

Trump seems to be perpetually mad at the press, but there’s a method to his madness.

He sees little downside to bashing the media — and plenty of potential benefits.

“It’s a truism of American politics that you don’t lose an election by criticising the media,” said Robert Lichter, president of the private Center for Media and Public Affairs.

“It plays well with the public, particularly with Republicans.”

While Trump’s language is more incendiary and he lashes out more personally at reporters than typical for past candidates, he’s following a long tradition of modern politicians who shoot barbs at the messenger.

Former President Dwight Eisenhower energised the 1964 Republican convention with his complaint about “sensation-seeking columnists and commentators”.

Richard Nixon’s vice president, Spiro Agnew, famously threw shade at “nattering nabobs of negativism” in the press.

President George H.W. Bush, who played horseshoes with press photographers and invited reporters to White House picnics and other events, still exhorted voters during his re-election campaign to act on the bumper-sticker slogan: “Annoy the Media: Re-elect Bush.”

His wife, Barbara, had some biting advice for Hillary Clinton when the incoming first lady visited the White House in November 1992: “Avoid this crowd like the plague,” Bush told Clinton, sweeping her hand toward the reporters and photographers on the South Lawn.

Trump is taking the beat-the-press strategy to a whole new level.

In a recent one-month period, he delivered 39 tweets skewering reporters and media organisations, mixed in with a much smaller number of positive and neutral references in his Twitter feed.

Just one example: “The media is really on a witch-hunt against me. False reporting, and plenty of it — but we will prevail!”

This week, Trump revoked the Post’s credentials, citing what he called the paper’s “incredibly inaccurate coverage and reporting.”

Other news organisations he’s banned, either short-term or permanently, include Politico, the Des Moines Register, BuzzFeed, the Daily Beast and the Huffington Post.

Post editor Martin Baron called Trump’s latest move “nothing less than a repudiation of the role of a free and independent press”.

Kathleen Carroll, executive editor of The Associated Press, said his credentialing bans do a disservice to the public.

In the race for the most powerful position on the planet, she said, “the public is interested in what the candidates do and say, and having independent coverage is part of what keeps the public informed”.

Why is Trump so quick to pick a fight with the press?

For one thing, his over-the-top language can be a successful strategy for changing the subject when he wants to divert attention.

Last month, when reporters pressed Trump to document what he’d done with millions of dollars raised for veterans, he turned on them, calling one reporter “a sleaze” and sarcastically referring to another as “a real beauty.”

That language itself became a big part of the story, shifting some of the attention away from questions about his handling of the money for veterans.

Trump’s constant criticism of the press also helps to inoculate him against future negative news stories.

But it's just like Eminem's lyric: "Feminist women love Eminem: 'Slim Shady, I'm sick of him, look at him, walking around, grabbin his you-know-what, flippin the you-know-who (yeah, but he's so cute tho!)"

Quote:Conservatives, in particular, already are wary of the mainstream media, and Trump’s rhetoric reinforces the message that nothing from the media is to be believed.

“Part of what he’s probably decided is that he wants to be very aggressive, to make sure that his supporters routinely discount any kind of news media attack,” former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, a Trump supporter, said in a recent interview with Fox News.

With the Republican Party in turmoil over Trump’s candidacy, the billionaire’s broadsides also serve as a unifying theme within the party.

GOP faithful may have big differences with Trump on the issues, but they’re at one with him on contempt for the mainstream media.

While Trump’s very public display of disdain is strategic, says Lichter, it’s also just “part of his daily dose of pugnacity”.

At the same time, though, Trump can be charming in one-on-one interviews, flattering reporters and complimenting their questions.

He calls many of them by their first names.

He takes questions and offers considerable access, seeming to understand that for all his complaints about the press, he can’t live without them.

“You know the press is the most dishonest people ever created by god,” he said at a March press conference.

“So I would love to take a few questions from these dishonest people. Go ahead, press.”

Is there any doubt a female reporter wrote this? Spin, hamster, spin!

Remissas, discite, vivet.
God save us from people who mean well. -storm

Putin Steals the DNC'S Opposition Files on Trump
http://foreignpolicy.com/2016/06/14/puti...candidate/
Quote:Cyber attackers linked to Moscow’s military intelligence unit, the GRU, and to the FSB, the successor to the KGB, broke into the DNC and won wide-ranging access to its computer systems, which was first reported by the Washington Post. The DNC and Crowdstrike, the security firm called in to kick the Russian hackers off the network, confirmed the details of that story to Foreign Policy.

Calls to the Russian Embassy on Tuesday went unanswered.

In April, the DNC grew suspicious that its networks may have been penetrated and called in Crowdstrike, based in Irvine, Calif. to investigate. Dmitri Alperovitch, the company’s co-founder and chief technology officer, told Foreign Policy in an interview that his company immediately recognized the hackers as Russian-backed groups that it had previously encountered. The breach used techniques and codes consistent with the groups, which are well known and have been linked to a number of prominent breaches.

Stealing opposition research on Trump makes perfect sense from a foreign intelligence perspective, according to Alperovitch. “Every world leader right now is trying to figure out this election. Trump is an unknown, and it is unclear what his positions are,” he said.

DNC officials told the Post that they have no evidence that donor or financial information was targeted.

The DNC’s Trump files present an appealing target. Opposition research might give the Kremlin insight into how Trump would approach countries in which he has investments or provide fodder for blackmail. It could also help Russian President Vladimir Putin sort out whether Trump is as potentially friendly to Moscow as he seems; the GOP frontrunner has spoken warmly about Putin, and the Russian strongman has responded with positive words of his own.
...

...

This can be construed as Russia has already seen Trump as the next POTUS.

RE: The Donald Trump thread
Had a random thought about Russia.

Russia had the best spies and propaganda in the 20th century, period. After learning how infectious they were in the CIA, MI6, and government during the same time frame, I've always been skeptical of them. Especially when they have news outlets like RT and people sympathetic to the cause.

But, the more I think about it, the more I think that Russia has ramped down the propaganda. The U.S. is so obviously corrupt, partly due to Russian influence in the 20th century, partly due to general emperial decadence, that its media is completely useless to the average citizen.

The best move for the Russians is to just tell the truth that the US media isn't telling its countrymen. I'm still very skeptical, but if your enemy's news makers are just slightly more truthful than your own, what does that tell you?

Russia isn't our "enemy" though, that's Neocon-speak. RT is probably the same as CNN in terms of bias, though I must admit that I haven't watched it that much.

RE: The Donald Trump thread
DD, you're correct on all the below. But what's more interesting, I think, is that Reuters has been regularly polling the following question: “The United States should temporarily stop all Muslims from entering the United States.” That's a complete and total Muslim ban (not based on geography, as Trump's is). Now 50% of voters favor that ban, only 42% oppose, a 22% swing since May 1. That's why Barry and Shrillery are freaking out, and the MM is abetting their lies.

http://www.breitbart.com/2016-presidenti...uslims-us/

In the wake of the terrorist attack in Orlando, 50 percent of likely voters now support a temporary halt on Muslim entry into the United States. Just 42 percent of likely voters oppose a temporary ban.

That suggested policy is a much harder line than the temporary ban on Muslim immigration, or the long-term ban on immigration from countries with a history of radical Islam, that have been proposed by GOP candidate Donald Trump.

The finding represents a 22-point swing since the beginning of the month. At the end of May, just 40 percent of likely voters supported a halt, while 54 percent opposed one.

Screen Shot 2016-06-14 at 3.52.58 PM

The Reuters survey, it should be noted, is based on a rolling average over the last 5 days. Even though Tuesday’s average shows a surge in support for a ban, most of the interviews on the question were conducted before the Orlando terrorist attacks. This suggests that support for the ban will rising over the coming days as more interviews conducted after news of the attack are included in the rolling average.

In the survey, voters were asked whether or not they agreed with this statement: “The United States should temporarily stop all Muslims from entering the United States.”

Since Reuters first started asking this question in early May, voter sentiment as been fairly evenly divided on the proposal. The week before the terrorist attack, however, public attitudes started to shift against the temporary ban. In addition to the expected opposition from leading Democrats, many leading Republicans, including House Speaker Paul Ryan, had argued against a ban. That trend has been reversed in the wake of the Orlando attack.

In a campaign speech in the immediate aftermath of the Orlando attack, presumptive GOP nominee Trump reiterated his call for a temporary ban, but modified it by saying that immigration should be curbed from countries with a history is Islamic radicalism.

He also focused his criticism more directly on the Obama Administration’s lax enforcement of the nation’s immigration laws. He specifically slammed a proposal by presumptive Democrat nominee Hillary Clinton to greatly expand the number of Muslim immigrants admitted into the country.

PolitiFact, a news site that ordinarily tries to rebuff conservative attacks on the left, admitted that Clinton’s proposal would dramatically increase the number of Muslim immigrants and refugees admitted into the US. Politifact noted, though, that the screening process to accept refugees ordinarily takes 18-24 months, suggesting that the US would be able to maintain national security under Clinton’s proposal.

The site did not mention, however, that the Obama Administration has recently cut the screening time for refugees from the Middle East to just 3 months.

If support for an outright temporary ban on all Muslim immigration is surging, one can imagine voters would overwhelmingly support efforts to at least increase screening of immigrant hopefuls. Even many of those voters who oppose a complete ban would likely not support expanding Muslim immigration in the wake of the Orlando attacks.

British politician Harold MacMillan was reportedly once asked what could blow his government’s plans off course. “Events, my dear boy, events,” he is alleged to have anwered.

The same is true of political campaigns.

The immigration laws of the United States give the President the power to suspend entry into the country of any class of persons that the President deems detrimental to the interests or security of the United States, as he deems appropriate.

I will use this power to protect the American people. When I am elected, I will suspend immigration from areas of the world when there is a proven history of terrorism against the United States, Europe or our allies, until we understand how to end these threats.

After a full, impartial and long overdue security assessment, we will develop a responsible immigration policy that serves the interests and values of America.

We cannot continue to allow thousands upon thousands of people to pour into our country, many of whom have the same thought process as this savage killer.

Many of the principles of Radical Islam are incompatible with Western values and institutions.

Radical Islam is anti-woman, anti-gay and anti-American.

I refuse to allow America to become a place where gay people, Christian people, and Jewish people, are the targets of persecution and intimidation by Radical Islamic preachers of hate and violence.

###

What Trump did do is emphasize the clear and present danger threats posed by Radical Islamic Terrorism and Obama and Clinton's complete lack of action against these threats - worse the FBI admits that there are many Radical Islamist cells operating in Florida with over 900+ active ISIS investigations in all 50 states and the media insists Trump "has doubled down on wanting to ban all Muslims".

Time to keep a list of Cucks in the book of which GOP members in the House and Senate to Keep and which to replace Taxed Enough Already TEA party style.

Funny thing is that he didn't even use an AR15 it was a different kind of rifle, the Sig Sauer MCX which is made by a German company. Pic attached

MSM wants to be able to blame this on the US arms industry so they mislabel it as an AR15. What's really shameful is that the Democrats are not actually trying to disarm people, they are just pretending to make an effort to, in order to satisfy their retarded base and more importantly to offer an alternative 'solution' to these terrorist attacks that doesn't contradict their SJW bullshit or hurt anyone's feelings. Yes Obama of course the guy who celebrated 9/11 and openly supported literally every radical Islamic group that has ever existed was just a troubled individual. Seeing the evidence coming out now its obvious that this was easier to prevent than the twin towers.

Honestly I feel just a little bad for Obama, now he can no longer blame George Bush for the turmoil our country is in. Fitting that it happened at the end of his 8 years, ensuring the utter bullshit of his 'change' campaign came full circle.

Twitter just automatically removed me from following both Milo and Mike Cernovich.

Earlier today, twitter shut down ISIS twitter accounts that got hacked with gay porn. This means twitter had been aware of these accounts but did nothing about it.

Now they are blatantly removing followers from two prominent activists that speak against the narrative.

The media (social media included), is very, very rotten.

If this is what happened, it's not likely a treacherous plot by Twitter's administrators, but instead some SJWs trying to work the app's system to silence these two.

If they get desperate enough before the election, we may even see thousands of accounts being mass suspended for "hate speech." Honestly I'm hoping they get so blatant about it that a public outcry will ensue and allow new platforms to come forward and take their place.

Keith Farrell June 15, 2016 2016 Presidential Race, Right to Bear Arms

Donald Trump has flipped on gun control and is now parroting a liberal policy point that jeopardizes all of our rights. Trump has indicated that he will meet with the NRA about supporting restrictions that would ban anyone on a terrorism watch list from buying firearms.

Here’s the problem — people on watch lists haven’t been charged with a crime, let alone convicted. Perhaps people are not aware, but if we get rid of the Fifth Amendment you may well kiss the Second Amendment goodbye, too.

In a previous piece I argued that stripping rights away from Americans because the government merely suspects you of something is a good way to empower the government to strip all our rights away.

Without due process there is nothing protecting citizens from the arbitrary exercise of power, from state persecution, and from unjust deprivation of their life and liberty. Society either exists under the Rule of Law or the rule of men; the latter being when power is yielded at the whims of those who hold it, with no restraint on their actions. The Rule of Law is what separates a just society from one of authoritarian rule. Justice cannot exist under the rule of men.

These lists are arbitrary and flawed. The late Senator Ted Kennedy even found himself on such a list once. Furthermore, this proposal Trump is pushing is exactly what anti-gun President Obama wants to do, as I pointed out:

How would Obama accomplish this? The arbitrary, secret, terror watch list. This so-called security measure has been in effect since 2003. The problem is the criteria for being placed on the list is very subjective and flawed. Even posting something on social media that others deem “reasonably suspicious” could land you on the list. In it’s 12 year existence, MANY errors have been made. Last year it was determined over 1.5 million names have been added to the list.

Conservatives that support this have lost their minds. This is giving the federal government power to strip your rights without charge or trial. What happens when some nut shoots up an abortion clinic? What happens when right-wing views are seen as dangerous? Don’t forget the federal government has investigated such affiliations before.

We must not give the government the ability to nullify the Second Amendment by suspending the Fifth. In this country, you cannot have your rights taken from you because your name is on a secret list. Trump’s failure to understand this once again underscores his dangerous disregard for the Rule of Law.

I think even a majority of Republican voters would support a ban on firearms purchases for those on the terrorist watch list. The devil is in the details... How you get on/off the list.

Archive link.

If this is legit, then holy shit, they have nothing.

After reading through this I feel like adding more to my wagers on Trump to wind the presidency, even though I already have him at large multiples from wagering in August.

Honestly, are they even trying to win? After reading each of their points on the negatives of Trump, my response was "Okay, and so what...?"

It's as if they're in an echo chamber, and just high fiving each other after quoting Trump.

Holy shit that Trump doc. That'll probably make for fun reading.

Scanned the table of contents and I had to look into "Free Stuff":

Quote:“FREE STUFF”
Donald Trump Said, During A Democratic Debate, Hillary Clinton And Bernie Sanders “Couldn’t Give Things Away Fast Enough.” “As Hillary and Bernie Sanders, they just couldn’t give things away fast enough. I watched Hillary last night with, “We’re going to give this, we’re going to give that, we’re going to give that.” The poor woman, she’s got to give everything away ’cause this maniac that was standing on her right is giving everything away. So, she’s following. That’s what’s happening…’Cause you got to win. Cause she’s not doing so well.” [Donald Trump Campaign Rally, Richmond, VA, 10/14/15]

Laughed my ass off. This is opposition research? Against Hillary herself, maybe.

And Trump's badass lawyer:

Quote:“Trump’s lawyer then changed tactics, lobbing insults and threatening a lawsuit if a story was published. ‘I will make sure that you and I meet one day while we’re in the courthouse. And I will take you for every penny you still don’t have. And I will come after your Daily Beast and everybody else that you possibly know,’ Cohen said. ‘So I’m warning you, tread very fucking lightly, because what I’m going to do to you is going to be fucking disgusting. You understand me?’ ‘You write a story that has Mr. Trump’s name in it, with the word ‘rape,’ and I’m going to mess your life up…for as long as you’re on this frickin’ planet…you’re going to have judgments against you, so much money, you’ll never know how to get out from underneath it,’ he added.” [Daily Beast, 7/27/15]

fucking nuked.

way too much effort in that document to not be legit.
