Trump will need to use his (ample) rhetorical and persuasive powers to deflect this line of attack. He'll need to soften his tone, adjust his register, pander like hell to women, and let his inner teddy bear come out. He will also have to focusingly assure people of his sanity and good temperament. I believe he'll be able to do all of this to a large extent, but it's not as simple as just shrugging off the "Hitler" scare tactics for the obvious nonsense they are.

I know there is a whole trump VP thread, but I am compelled to comment.

I am hoping that trump goes with a military VP. It would do two things.

1. It would further cement trumps platforms of helping the vets and rebuilding the military. Even a silent, uniformed general in the background while trump speaks would remind people of that constantly.

2. it would make subversive government actors think twice about assassination. If trump died and an ex general became president it would be martial law and probably a miltary coup of many of the agencies like the CIA, FEMA and homeland security. I'm sure they want that less than they do trump.
