Hello everyone, I am a college student in the USA. I go to a typical college that parties more than a average college. Greek life at my university also has a lot of parties on weekends. Although my university parties, it is not known to party as is UCLA, Arizona State, FSU, and so on.

However, I am planning on moving to europe to live there and study as well (5 years) Although I want to move to europe, I do not want to miss out on the party scene at all. Any advice or information anyone has about european colleges known to party (like FSU, Arizona state, or UCLA or similar (besides England and germany as I have ruled those out)?


If not recommendations on the best places to live considering my appearance would be greatly appreciated.


Appearance: I am 20 years old and about 5'11. Lean and sport type body. I am hispanic (brown color) and people sometimes say I look asian (because of my eyes) black hair and eyes.


After reading through countless threads I believe the best countries for my appearance would be Poland, Czech Republic, Finland, Norway and Sweden

Thanks in advance guys for the help, I truly appreciate it as this is a life-long decision. This thread would also be great if we can gather information as there are not a lot of threads about college life in europe on the forum and the one or 2 threads that are about college life (young age between 18-23 college) are outdated from 2010-2012

I've heard good things about student life in Prague and Helsinki from old friends who were erasmus students there.

Just one word of advice : Don't move to a place just because your appearance is liked there, move somewhere where you enjoy and take interest in the culture and it's people.

I'm a darker looking white guy, i know from experience Scandi chicks like my looks but it doesn't mean that i can just come in and swoop the hottest bitch in town and all my problems will go away and everything will be rosy and great , naw mean?

You still have to put in the work.

Yes I agree, thank you very much for responding. I appreciate it. I have been looking into Prague and Helsinki and it would be a plus if they offer my program. I agree with you that it is bad to move into a country just because the appearance is liked there. I have decided to move to europe because I plan to live there after I graduate and overall like the life there.

If i may ask, how long ago were your friends in college in helsinki and prague?

Great idea to move and one that will work wonders for you in the future.

The countries you listed are great for pussy, but learning those languages would be useless. I would move to a country with career and business opportunities, unfortunately you are looking at UK and Germany. Those countries you listed are close by and you can frequent them often once you are in Europe.

For studying, I hear there is a good university in Prague.

Don't worry about your appearance, there will always be some girl who will be interested in you because you are a foreigner.

With my degree (MD) I could work mostly anywhere in Europe with the exception of england. I agree with you about "money or bitches" Thanks again for your reply.

Pick a town as small and further East as possible. Always keep in mind that your SMV is inversely proportional with the amount of tourists and minimum wage in any given place.

I've never lived in my native country and i've moved around alot during childhood, i've always been 'the foreigner'.

Alot of times it's just niche game.

But i do believe you can become more desirable or on an even playing field with the locals if you learn the language , integrate into the culture and develop status/social circle.

As a foreigner it's even easier, because you already have that 'exotic' status tied to you.

I agree with this as well. I believe if you learn the language or atleast try, as well as learn the culture and how they live, it helps you as an added plus to being a foreigner

I disagree on this one. Keep in mind that a 3rd tier city would almost certainly become boring as fuck after the 1st year and you plan on staying there for 5 years! If I were you, I'd focus on the quality of the education and university first and on pussy second. With that in mind, I think Sweden would be your best option.

Where exactly in Europe have you been before? I sometimes get the feeling that Americans make big generalizations about it. Just like comparing a place in North Dakota and LA would be like day and night, the same applies for the old continent. Also keep in mind that the student life will be completely different. There's no frat culture over here, the closest you get might be in England or perhaps the Netherlands.

Anyone from a European university can join the Erasmus programme independently of their nationality. Last year I met a Nigerian guy doing his full degree in Turkey that went on a year abroad to Poland.

American students from American universities can also join, but they pay tuition. I met an American girl doing Erasmus in Krakow. I forgot the exact figure, but I think she paid around 10,000 dollars to study in Krakow for a year. Keep in mind that education is free in Krakow. She paid it only because she was American.

ERASMUS sounds like a great idea. Technically I wouldn't be an American student anymore because I plan on moving to Europe "basically forever" with no intention to come back the following year to study at an American college. Based on this I believe ERASMUS wouldn't work for me (it helps that it offers free tuition) because I don't have European nationality nor do I go to a European university yet.

how much english is spoken in university for such american students studying in a non english speaking country? would you be best off learning the language beforehand, during your stay, or is it like in germany where schools provide english instruction?

wondering if it is enough to start learning the language once you get to the non-english speaking country

Erasmus is all in English. You don't need another language. Except for France. They make it a life mission never to speak English there.

It's mostly the same in Spain, very few universities will offer modules taught in English.

1) It depends on the faculty.
2) Even if you think all courses are in English, most of the time they offer some bullshit courses in English that only Erasmus students take that you don't know about. The whole point of those courses is to enable Erasmus, natives don't even take them. There are no exams, you pass them by preparing Power Point presentations.

I have ruled out prague and sweden. Might be looking into iceland. Like almost everyone agrees, first comes future life (trying to reach goals) then comes pussy. Will keep everyone updated.

Out of curiosity, why exactly have you ruled out Sweden and Prague? They seem like pretty solid 5 year choices (Sweden when spread across tiers in terms of cities). Personally I'm a 23-year old from the Netherlands moving to Uppsala in a few months for a year. The Scandi archetype has always very much appealed to me in terms of women, I'll make sure to visit Finland and Norway during my stay. What is the exact continuation of your degree? (Dutch system is very different).

I ruled out Sweden and Prague because of school. I agree with you that these cities especially sweden would be great to live in, in terms of culture and cities however economically I dont think it is feasible for me to go there. I plan on enrolling in med school (without a BA)

So how do you expect to stay there "forever" (beyond the period of your student visa) if you're not a EU citizen?

Personally, I would choose the university based on your educational goals. A social life you can find anywhere.
