Germany has lowest birth rate in the world:

Quote: Germany has the world's lowest birth rate, according to a new study produced by German auditing firm BDO in partnership with the Hamburg Institute of International Economics (HWWI).

Although Germany has had the lowest birth rate in Europe in recent years, the study alleges that it has now surpassed countries outside the continent.

The study shows that, on average, 8.2 children were born per 1,000 inhabitants over the past five years. In Europe, Portugal and Italy came in second and third with an average of 9.0 and 9.3 children, respectively.

Globally, the study pointed to the African continent for the highest birth rates. The West African country Niger took the top position with 50 children born per 1,000 inhabitants.

Diminishing labor force

Henning Vöpel, director of the HWWI, said that the economic repercussions of having the lowest birth rate in the world could be damaging as Germany's working-age population will shrink from its current 61 percent to 54 percent by 2030.

"This trend has not digressed as much as it has in any other industrialized country as it has in Germany, despite the influx of young immigrant workers," Vöpel said.

Arno Probst, an executive board member of the BDO, said that as a direct consequence, Germany will face higher wage costs due to a shortage in skilled labor.

"Without strong labor markets, Germany cannot maintain its economic edge in the long run," Probst said.

He added that women's participation in Germany's labor force was key in order to ensure the country's economic efficiency.

That last sentence blows me away. People aren't having children and German experts are encouraging women to participate more in the labor force.

They're saying that low birth rates means a weaker labor market, and women's participation means a stronger labor market. Sounds like the world's dumbest paradox to me.

My question about the Germans: What's up? Why are they not reproducing even at the level of the herbivore Japanese?

The only people that will be reproducing in germany soon are the arabs, pakis and african immigrants/asylum seekers. Yet the experts suggest that women having greater participation in the workforce is the solution, beyond pathetic imho.

There are several reasons for this.

economic reasons: If women get a better education and job their opportunity cost of children will raise. Also the demands of the labor market are mutually incompatible withe the ones of raising a family

reasons in attitude: travelling and the carousel is more appealing than staying at home with a baby.

The government doesn't take any action to rise the numbers because "Bevölkerungspolitik" reminds them of the Nazis. I am also very sure that the left parties want to Germans to die out.

I've always wondered about "Nazi hangover", but I've never seen a civil discussion about it. Same with Japanese and Italian treatment of their respective WWII histories.

Last week a resort town designed by the Nazi's is in disarray, but there's a lot of hand wringing about what to do it.

Tear it down and rebuild?
or get the tax credits and keep it as is?

I was in Italy recently and found out that the age of the average resident in Florence is 49.

Median age of countries (according to Wikipedia):

Germany 46.1

Japan 46.1

Italy 44.5

Australia 37.5

Canada 40.7

United Kingdom 40.5

United States 36.9

The average German and Japanese is nearly a decade older than the average American.

Tons of sex here despite the low birth rate, it's not Japan. Women just wait longer to finish college, enter the workforce, marry, and have children. There are three reasons for this:

The Germans are intellectually and emotionally more mature than Americans of the same age, but in terms of long-term direction and family formation, they walk around like lost puppies. Pathological altruism cannot encourage reproduction the way organized religion has in the past.

There's no motivation for women to reproduce. That's the issue. 18 years of indentured servitude to a man vs 18 years of riding the cock carousel, partying, free dinners, drinks and "gifts". It's a no-brainer.

Probably should have listed these in my previous comment, as they're also responsible for the birth rate decline:

- Easy access to contraceptives through the national health care system
- Easy access to abortion through the national health care system (not a political issue)
- Less manipulative/deceitful women; if a girl says she takes the pill, she takes the pill
- Women obsess over their reputation within social circles and run with the herd; less willing to take sexual risks outside of relationships, less willing to settle down at a young age once in one.
- Much smaller trashy underclass

I'm not German, but these are just my observations living here.

Speakeasy, its not. At this rate, native Europeans will be minorities in their own countries within fifty years. European south Africans have already been put on "genocide" watch. The native Americans were wiped out not in a decade like other genocides, but over centuries, this does not make it less of a genocide. Feminism, white guilt, abortions, and immigration is doing the same thing to European peoples. This is also being done to blacks in the united states and African Christians living in Africa.

A birth rate of far less than replacement level combined with massive immigration of foreign populations with different ancestry and religion is genocide. I don't understand how it can be categorized as anything else.

Genocides involve killing. That's what the -cide affix means. And the implication is that the killing is coming from a different group, otherwise we'd use the word suicide. So if this were something worthy of -icide, it would be closer to the latter than the prior since they are doing this to themselves.

There is no genocide on whites. Their dwindling numbers are occurring for reasons that are entirely self-chosen. This isn't a condition that is being imposed upon them by an outside ethnic group, like the Armenian or Rwandan genocide.
