ROTK II. I still load it up on an emulator and play it from time to time, and I get an adrenaline rush every time I hear the battle music. It's not right, really.

It's interesting reading this thread because all of what is posted here about the various leaders is well represented by the game. If I didn't know any better, I would think you all were describing a hardcore ROTK II session.

I've searched many times for a more up-to-date version of this game or something similar but it seems like all the best were only sold in the asian market and weren't translated.

Everything I know about the 3 Kingdoms I learned from "Dynasty Warriors"

RE: The Three Kingdoms Thread
Funny coincidence.

I thought about starting to watch the 2010 version yesterday, but 95 episodes...that's a lot of my time.
Perhaps some other day.

RE: The Three Kingdoms Thread
I read the manga "Kingdom", tells a story of Qin fighting against the 5 other states and united China. Not in the three kingdoms era, but quite good, I enjoy it. The military battles were such a large scale and the tactics used and strategy is very interesting. Mildly read Sun Tzu's "Art of War", wouldn't mind reading some old school tactics in that era.

RE: The Three Kingdoms Thread
I find this period of history interesting, together with the Sengoku Jidai of Japan, more because of what this period gave us, than what battles were fought and where.
This period was rise of famous generals that became examples of honor, duty and intelligence that survived for thousand years and more. Its no coincidence that many examples in Robert Greene's 48 Laws of Power stem from this period. They were really personifications of "Prince", hundreds of years before Prince was written by Machiavelli. Also this period gave rise to the philosophy, which will become prominent later when the China enters period of unification and peace.
