I think with all the talk about gay marriage there is one issue I haven't seen addressed yet. Who gets fucked over in the divorce? If both parties are the same sex, which one loses their house and has to pay child support/alimony?

I've always seen this as one of the potential upsides to gay marriage. If the courts treat them more fairly, they establish a precedent that hetero couples (straight men anyway) will demand the courts adhere to in settling straight divorce.

The richer one. The bigger the payouts, the more the courts can take as a slice for themselves.

Gender has nothing to do with who pays child support/alimony.

Whoever has more money pays.

Since guys have more money we're the ones who usually get screwed. But then again, we have more money, so...

Gender has everything to do with it. The law is coded and weighted against men. Its a legal way to steal men's wealth and gays and lesbians expose the faulty and discriminatory wording of family & divorce alomony laws.

If two gay men divorce they both are possibly liable to loose money and if they adopted a kid it can be even worse. For this reason gay male divorse numbers are almost nonsexistant in the two countries that keep the stats (Sweden and Canada), because its cheaper for a gay married couple to stay "married' and just fuck around on each other (likely doing it before, monogamy in gay couples is rock bottom low, cheating is rampant). They do this to avoid the garunteed rape in court where money WILL be stolen from their hands.

For lesbian couples it is the opposite. Since they have next to no money penalty lesbian divrose rates are actually higher then hetero rates at ~65% I believe. With free reign they jump in and out of marriage like nothing. It is another shadow stat certian interests like to keep quiet as the straw man of gay marriage has been built on the faulty assumption that it is immoral and illegal to deny two people who love each other legal union (and the goodies that come with it from the state). But showing examples like this ruins the fluffy image and brings to much attention to the fact a marriage is a contract bond to help aid family building by providing long term stability for children and families through both male and female partners in the union; when adding children to the mix it is purely a man and woman deal, not gay or lesbian.

When self serving femenists lobbied to turn family law into a wealth seizure from men, they blissfully ignored gay/lesbian couples then. Mind you in those days being gay was a medical psychological desiese listed on the book, but it still shows how far back the self-serving nature of feminism goes and how non-progressive it truly has been.

Over/under on the gay divorce rate? My guess is 70-80%
