currently in hk. same opinion as holymuffdiver.. no success with tinder so far. party in lkf is super expensive (talking about $100-450$ cover for men, chicks are free. guess where all the girls go..)

I can't speak for tinder, but I had good success with badoo. Maybe this one will work out better for you.
I avoided LKF so far - definitely too expensive. Another reason to check out Maids day in Wan Chai. The venues I've been to have no cover charge and drinks aren't overpriced.

There are two massive obstacles in Hong Kong and they are;

1. Logistics - HK girls are super busy with either work or study and 99% of them live with their parents (they will do so until they're married or in a LTR)

2. Local guys are thirsty - like 20 days in the desert thirsty, the ratios flop out after midnight

Mitigating these two obstacles are fairly easy. I got a shitload of Tinder matches as well as WeChat. Look for the non HK locals as they will have time to burn and won't be a product of the minor slut shaming that occurs on the ISland.

LKF is great and the key is actually NOT going into the bars! Around 10 onwards every night, there are always people chilling on the street drinking the Tsingtao they picked up for $10HKD in the 711. It's a weird mixture of street approaches mixed with nightlife game. HK people are generally reserved but not snobbish. Approach mixed local groups and honeydick the dudes a little bit and you will generally be received well. Lot's of tourists out as well, many people from around Asia and you will find plenty of Chinese-Aussie-American-Canadian-Brits. They're starved in HK and generally have good logistics.

Avoid the Southeast Asian maids as they have the lowest income, send most of their salaries back to families and want money or gifts. Same reason to avoid most poor girls in Mainland China, they are having a hard time surviving in the cities with low income and want help from the men.

HK is an international business hub that can make the careers of men. Unless you're in the movie industry LA can't offer anywhere near the same level of opportunity. Girls should be a third priority when taking all the factors into account. You can always relocate to wherever you want after you've done your dog years.

I've been to HKG a few times and live in LA. I think based on your background and the fact that you will be there for only 6 months, I'd take HKG. But I think the city is HIGHLY overrated in terms of girls, and lifestyle.

I'm usually a very positive person, but a few glaring things stick out for me regarding HKG:

1. The girls (mainly Cantonese) are really not that attractive. I know this is personal opinion, but as a guy with a slight asian fetish. I couldn't find that many real stunners, or "hot" girls. I've wandered almost all parts of the city at different times.

2. The bitch shields are ASTRONOMICAL. And for girls that are not that attractive, its quite mind-boggling. I've lived in Miami, LA, briefly in NYC and I've never experienced such harsh blowouts in my life. It was unreal; beyond what any reasonable human would do to another. Maybe you will have better success, and perhaps my style of game is just not conducive to the city.

3. It is ridiculously hot and humid. I don't mean to sound like a bitch, but I need to point this out. During the summer its easily 95 deg F, but feels like 110 F. I grew up in Miami, but this is next level heat.

4. Water is ALWAYS dripping on you, from the sky, buildings, air conditioning, etc. Always... The city also smells like shit. Most asian cities do as well, but I found HKG to be particularly smelly.

5. The food is SHIT. I had trouble finding decent places to eat, and I'm not a food snob. Again this is personal preference.

6. Even though the MTR is excellent, logistics can be quite an issue. Most girls live far away and with their parents.

Don't mean to bitch and complain about HKG, its an interesting city with a fascinating past, but these are some things I wanted to bring up. I know a few are opinions but LA does not have the food, smell, weather issues. You'll still have bitches and you will need a car.

Of course if you focus on career and put girls on the back-burner, most of the things I listed above don't matter much.

I've lived in LA and was recently in Hong Kong for about 10 days.

There is much more room in LA. Hong Kong is very dense.

However, the networking and job opportunities, I believe, would be much better. I would move to Hong Kong if I had an opportunity lined up. I don't ever plan on returning to LA.

Go with Hong Kong.

On a short-term stay as you mentioned, I think HK would be a good choice for networking. It usually is a launching pad to career opportunities in other global cities.

Some perspective from my last stay:

1) For good cheap HK Cantonese cuisine on HK Island, I recommend Stanley Street. It's hopping on weekdays with good talent as well. Kowloon would be the obvious choice for more traditional HK cuisine. Chungking Mansion is great for cheap dirty down Indian food too.

2) The chicks you see during the day time weekdays in their work clothes are going to be exponentially more attractive than the talent on say LKF at nights. Bitch shields will also be lower.

3) LKF street game at nights was not my thing at all. Bitch shields were much higher with girls actually screaming at guys not to talk to them. The scene overall was quite lame.

4) Believe it or not, I actually liked Dragon-I. I think one solution to that horrific cover charge is to arrive early & have dinner (or a dinner reservation) in order not to pay the cover charge...which requires a cash only cover btw!!!

5) Certain Indian professionals and service industry guys (not Chungking Mansion obviously lol) seemed to be well-connected people with quite a few chicks around them. That's what I saw during my last visit. I think they're better off than the westernized ex-pats deemed too obnoxious whereas other the other East Asian dudes were written off as awkward betas.

6) Outdoorsy options are great that are easily accessible my metro/bus/foot. All those resources are at reach without a car not to mention you have cheap flights to other cool Asian destinations for whenever you have spare vacation time too!

Serious point here that surprisingly is not always considered despite such a major move. DO NOT go to Hong Kong if you suffer from Asthma or other respiratory diseases without checking your intended property for dampness and overall condition, it is filthy air quality like London but the population density and climate seem to make it even worse.

Ill be the contrarian. LA is very hot right now. Dont miss the ride. The world goes through cycles of hot cities in the world. Dubai a few years ago, Moscow, Miami in 2 years from now etc.

LA is HOT!!! Doesnt matter if you will be down south. Take it all in and enjoy it then go somewhere else you want to.

OP go with what your desire is telling you: LA.
