I fully support this law. Catcalling is clearly the gateway to rape and murder and handing judges the power to determine whether words are abusive is always a good move. Democracy in action, people!

Catcalling is far more common in Argentina than in most places RVF posters come from. Some women in the US think it's a big deal. It's a way of life in Argentina.

South American women are a different breed then US women. It's cultural there to basically catcall and the women love it and even do it to men.

So it is better to insult someone than to acknowledge their sexiness etc.. It should be the other way around if they want to make some law.....here is my supposed catcall..... Hey ugly girl,,,you looking real ugly today....good luck proving that.... Judge.... She is pretty,,,, defense--- well, he did call her ugly and each person has different views of beauty. .... Bingo,,, innocent... Case thrown out.

Observations:

1. The "complainant" is massively overweight. In a country that has a much smaller waistline--on average--than the United States, she's basically the U.S. equivalent of 425 pounds.

   

2. The legislator lady proposing the bill has a pony tail (and piercing and feminist-style glasses). Although in the United States this is considered long hair, in Argentina she has the equivalent of skrillex cut. Women have hair to the top of their ass until middle age.

   

3. There appears to be no burden of proof placed on women. Women's word is taken at face value, and men can suffer serious legal and social consequences with a mere unsupported claim. When you consider how many people in Argentina (especially women) suffer from certified mental illness, this is a U.S.-level disaster waiting to happen.

Whether this passes or not (and my suspicion is that it won't) is immaterial. Argentina, like the rest of the world, is slowly following the United States on the road to fat-bitch hell.

The "social justice" stuff is very bad in Argentina.

A friend originally from there said that a case involving the murder of a pregnant woman by thugs in broad daylight eventually had the perps get off because the woman was "privileged" and they weren't, or something.

If things like that are happening there, this is hardly surprising. I wonder if they'll rail about "looks privilege" if this goes into effect though. A law for this is tailor-fitted for women's fickleness.
