Miami is the most difficult place I have ever been when it comes to the median of men. With the exception of height, you really gotta be the complete package to get the high level women here. Gyms are packed 24/7 except on Friday, your clothes must be together, you gotta have money to spend, you gotta have a place near the action. You used to need a nice car, but Uber changed that. I did not realize how high the level was here until I went to DC to see my family for the holidays. Me my girl my brother and his girl all went out, and everywhere we went we got in free and people were staring at us. I shit you not they literally just stopped what they were doing and just stared. One club we went to we were about to leave and the promoter for that night comped us a bottle so we would stay.

My girl is pretty average for Miami, but except NY, LA, and Vegas she is very above average. I am a tall in shape dude but I do not really stand out in Miami except for height, everywhere else (especially Atl) I get a lot of attention.In Miami you see a lot of women who do menial shit like housekeeping, or waitressing where if they went somewhere else a man would take care of them and they would never work again. Hell, they would not even have to leave the state just go north within Florida and they would be standouts. It is kind of weird when you think about it...

Consider something though. I think there is validity to the snippets of girls saying they want to be the more physically attractive one in a relationship. That doesn't undo their desire for an alpha at the same time.

Think of fat, out-of-shape guys who play in rock bands. I know one off the top of my head who had a model for a wife. He looks like dog shit next to her when they're at the pool together. His attitude is DontGiveAFuck and is a bad boy. She gets what she wants out of a guy she's attracted to and still gets to feel pretty next to him instead of self-conscious next to a guy with six pack abs.

This just seems like more evidence that women aren't turned on by a tight body and flat stomach to anywhere near the degree men are. How many super fit guys with a bit of social awkwardness do you see who can't get laid? How many chubby, but relaxed and charismatic guys do you see who pull hot girls almost at will?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a major proponent of working out. Any little advantage is worth grabbing. But that's all it is; a slight advantage. This 'dad bod' thing reinforces everything the manosphere has been saying about how attraction differs between the sexes.

I used to workout with mindest its for the girls, then I realized, I don't give a fuck what girls think. If she thinks my results in the gym are hot, great, if she's turned off, well that's her problem.

I lift for myself, it helps me decompress, it keeps me in shape, alive, and healthy.

You're right, attraction does differ, it doesn't mean you shouldn't be active.

Why not be charming, cool, AND being in great shape?

Having both those is more than a slight advantage.

The "dad bod" is like the woman's alpha/beta dichotomy coming right out into the open. They want life to be easy, they want to be able to see the beta from a mile away, same for an alpha and not be confused.

I would propose throwing Ron Jeremy into the mix for any "Dad Bod" discussion. That guy looks like a mutant, but whose reputation and equipment would threaten the relationship comfort of any woman.

If a girl says "I like the Dad bod" would reply "so Ron Jeremy would be your ideal husband" and they would reply "eww he's gross" and then ask them to expand on what separates "Dad Bod" from Mr. Jeremy...and clearly its going to be beta traits, not his physical appearance.

This is a subject on which guys are prone to an almost endless amount of confusion and misunderstanding.

To the extent that females have an ideal of an attractive guy, neither of the images below corresponds to that ideal.



No, it's not true that women like men to have a "dad bod" gut or to be pointedly chubby or overweight. But neither do they like them to be exaggerated bodybuilder types with extreme six packs and all the rest. There are exceptions of course, and there are women (and many more gay men) who fetishize this look -- as indeed there are some who fetishize the chubsters -- but they are in the minority.

The ideal male look for most women is closer to something like this:



But even that can create an exaggerated idea. The truth is the most women prefer guys who are taller, or who don't read short; who are not grossly overweight or excessively thin; they might have a preference with respect to complexion, that is, light skin/dark skin, blonde or dark haired etc; and they will look for at least one physical feature that they find particularly appealing, maybe striking eyes, a winning smile, broad shoulders, it could be almost anything. It really doesn't go far beyond that.

And of course nearly all of this is secondary to other aspects of a guy's personality and physical demeanor, his confidence, how he walks, his bearing when he stands and sits, how he talks, how he acts. You can have guys who are borderline ugly or repulsive, and if they are naturals or alphas or have serious power or an otherwise commanding presence they will get the hottest pussy on earth.

In short, no, it's of course not true that having a gut or being overweight brings you closer to what women look for in a man. But neither is it true that you need a "six pack", 8% body fat, or a bodybuilder's physique, or that women find these things particularly attractive. The efforts spent attaining that ideal (to the extent they are spent with the goal of attracting females) could be spent far more productively in other pursuits.

I'm about there with my body, except I probably am shorter and have lower body fat levels.

Here's how I look at it: you can always look better (bodywise.) Sure, women don't give a fuck if you are 6 packed out and sporting low body fat, but I have almost never met a shredded, muscular dude who wasn't not super cocky and aggressive with women. My game actually got better when I started lifting 1.5 years ago. I just sort of have more of a swagger to me that I didn't have that time ago.

The fit version with the guy smiling and kind of hunched/leaning forward in bad light...

Forum member Blurred Stevens would have a field day critiquing the photo. If the photo was more flattering and not necessarily shirtless, I think women would like that "bod" very much.

It's just a cheezy presentation.

Lastly, I don't know if it's from Crossfit or what, but in the bigger cities I've been to in the West lately, there seem to be many more vy fit guys than there used be. Competition is tough.

I agree with all of this, but I'll also add that women lie through their teeth about this kind of shit, and probably more so in surveys where there's no chance of being called out on it. I found picture recently of me with an old girlfriend about five or six years ago. I was the picture of what she said she wanted in terms of style, fitness, how I cut my hair, and what she wanted in a man. I didn't have a dad bod, but my whole appearance was more let-it-be than I prefer. We broke up about a year later, about a year after that, she met her (now) husband, and I got back into self-improvement, changed my style, started getting back in the gym and converted about 15 pounds of fat into muscle.

I'll just say that how she acts around me when her husband is around is completely different than how she acts around me when he isn't there. Most American women are full of shit when it comes to telling the truth about relationships, what they're attracted to, and things like that, and I think this is an example of that.
