Since Thais are mostly a xenophobic and largely ignorant nation, be careful learning Thai from Isaan born/raised Thais. They have a bit of a dialect that immediately screams association with poor uneducated Thais. For biz connections it would be a definitive disadvantage, you would most likely be labeled a whore monger (most low end hookers come from Isaan). On higher end biz level, polite, educated Thai skills are a requirement.

KL just doesn't compare to BKK, there's nothing to do or see, the night life isn't great, girls aren't even allowed into clubs until their 24 or something stupid where as guys can go in younger. Agree, KL did nothing for me also, that city has no character. Bangkok seems to have this 'anything can happen' aura. Not in a dangerous way, but more in adventurous way.

You're right that this would be not very to my liking. It's in the middle of the boonies pretty much.
Speaking of On Nut, I've heard from my contacts in BKK that it's a nice residential area with some great deals for aparts. Have you had a chance to check it out? Anyone else maybe? Mystik? Gringo? etc...

Its a quite residential area. Has a very American feel to it with superstores and big car showrooms around. Its the kind of place where you would find an Ikea if you were in a European city. Its a good place to live but I suspect that at night it would be completely dead.

dude you are paying way too much, go to fighting spirit, it's only 14k baht a month and the room is good, has ac, flat screen tv, wifi, they got a good gym to work out, the trainers are good, you are next to two markets for extremely cheap and good food, close to lumpini stadium to go see fights, is a good deal if you are staying in BKK, tell the owner felix sent you.

that area has tons of internet cafes, is right in the middle of the business center of bkk, but you can still get by on a tight budget because there's 2 markets where you can get delicious plates of food for 30baht, or you can buy stuff and cook it since they have a little fridge that you can use with a small kitchen setup, also the bts is around the corner, so it minimizes the amount of $ you spend in taxis which adds up.

also once you bond with the trainers, they'll probably invite you out to party on saturday nights after training, they speak english too even though they are thai.

overall i would say is a cool place, when i touch bangkok i will train there for a week or two and then head south, maybe to patong boxing, hopefully you will give us feedback on that gym if you make it down there.

You had a private room with private bathroom?

JMB mentioned on his blog that they locked the doors at night and he couldnt get back in. Any comment on that?

I assume you can't/shouldn't bring chicks back to the camp. Most camps are like that.

The main gate where cars go in gets locked up after 10pm, but there's a normal door that's always open to the right, the trainers will show you, you can bring girls all night there, don't worry about that, even the trainers bring chicks, the room is not private but is big there's 2 beds per room, anyway the odds are that you will be by yourself, the gym is like 3 blocks away from Patpong which is a huge sex center and that area has allot of short time rooms where you can bring girls in if you have to go that route.

But.. like i said i'm willing to bet that you will be by yourself, most of the people that go to that gym live in bangkok, they just come in to train, allot of them are business men or students so the rooms are always empty.

Anyway i don't think i could spend 3 months in that gym or anywhere in Bangkok, 2 weeks max for me.. unless i'm working and living in the city, i think the real charm of Thailand is in the beach towns, you get tired of the pollution and all the bs after awhile.

I respect this YMG. I was shocked on both trips to Thailand how many Westerners let themselves go. Thailand requires some self-discipline on longer stays. Good luck and stay focused. The scores of LBFM's sure make it hard though.
