Would you risk your life for some random drunk-driving sloot who's so sheltered she has no idea what a speeding vehicle can do to a human being?

The problem with helping people you don't know is that you can't always accurately read the situation and even when you can you might end up putting yourself in more danger than you realize.

Years ago I was at the country fair with my then gf. Being the south it is hot and humid, so they put up a number of big white tents with tables and chairs and fans and a portable water fountain so people can duck in and cool down or have some place cool to sit while eating or whatever.

So we had sat down and it wasn't crowded but wasn't empty either. This guy and his girlfriend were sitting a few chairs away from me and they started arguing. I didn't think anything about it at first but after several minutes it went from being an embarrassing situation with people getting annoyed but being polite and staying out of it to a physical altercation. She started slapping him a few times when he stood up to storm off and then he turned around and decked her. Being the south every guy stood up to intervene. Being that I was closer than anyone else I kinda positioned myself between them and told him to cool off or I would get the cops involved or something like that. I don't really remember what exactly I said because the next thing I knew this bitch was going crazy punching and kicking me and what not. She was like a bitch tornado and I was a deer in the headlights.

While I didn't get hurt that badly or anything and the cops later arrested both of them, I did learn a lesson. That was the first and last time I have intervened. Since then I have found myself in a situation a few time where some couple were fighting or arguing and I just figure, especially now, that it isn't my business. Even if the guy is smacking her around, I have to wonder why she decided to hook up with the bad boy loser (I know why).

As far as helping people goes, it really is a bit of a crap shoot. If it is someone broken down on the highway or who just got into a wreck then I might help them depending on the situation. Last thing I want is to get caught in a trap. If it was some girl getting gangraped or murdered or something, let's be real here if you help them you are probably putting yourself in a position for it to happen to you too.

Women these days think they can shop for a man like they shop for a purse or a pair of shoes. Sorry ladies. It doesn't work that way.

Women are like sandwiches. All men love sandwiches. That's a given. But sandwiches are only good when they're fresh. Nobody wants a day old sandwich. The bread is all soggy and the meat is spoiled.

You learned a valuable lesson. When it comes to couples they can fight tough and hard, but once you get involved it is you vs. them. Kind of like how no much someone bitches about their own family it is best not to bitch about them too. That person will turn on you so fast it makes your head spin.
