This white knighting thing is out of hand.

I can not think of any situation that could better embody the term 'fast-paced'; than a Southern Californian Interstate, at any time. By definition, reactions are going to be very fast, and instinctual, NOT RATIONAL!

Regardless of the past 50-100 or so years of new aged politics, it has always been a distinct instinct of a normal male human to want to help, and literally protect a younger, genetically attractive female.

At 75mph, I would be thinking 'that could be my sister' (or one of her friends) but literally nothing else. All you guys saying you would not help a young woman, simply because she is a young woman (how could you honestly tell if she was drunk, real time?) are just arm-chairing it, trolling for big boy points.

My brother and I were headed home, driving on a large street close to downtown Austin, and a drunk homeless (presumably) man was walking from one side of the street to the other, meandering about, losing his sandals, practically going in circles in the dark, with cars veering out of the way at the last second to avoid hitting him.

He was going to get hit, it was just a matter of time.

We saw this, pulled over immediately, walked onto the street, then each of us grabbed one of his arms and we walked him across the street and laid him down on a bench...I put his sandals next to him.

We could have been hit in the process of saving him.

Thinking back, it probably wasn't the wisest thing for us to do.

But we did it anyways.

Those guys were very foolish to stand out in the interstate at night and flag down cars; lucky they weren't killed.

And no doubt they wouldn't force her out of the road because they've been indoctrinated with the whole "never put your hands on a woman" to the degree they are conditioned not to do it even if it would save her or an innocent person's life

In the beginning when she was talking to the guy recording next to his car, why didn't he throw her in his car or hold her on the side of the road until help came? She was risking her, their, and other drivers' lives from being a moronic drunk bitch and he didn't even lay a finger on her; he treated her like a little princess.

Just for touching her, and especially for throwing her in my car, I could get my ass thrown in jail, regardless if she was drunk and playing with her life. I agree 100% with turkishcandy. I promise you these guys wouldn't have been doing that if it was a drunk dude in the car. The power that women have on some men's critical thinking is astounding. She's in a car with lights on, MUCH more highly visible than a person waving around a little maglite. Instead of jumping into the road, they should have coerced her into letting them pull her car to the shoulder.

Reminds me of L.A. driving. Can't tell you how many times I've seen people stopped in a center lane (always a chick) on their cell phone calling for help. In my 19 years of driving, I have not encountered a situation where I can think it's normal to just stop in a center lane and call for help. I've run out of gas multiple times, blown a flat, blown a suspension, had a passenger have an epileptic seizure, been rear ended, overheated, and every single time I've managed to pull to the shoulder.

I've lost friends due to being cut in two by some piece of car and guardrail or something else. That, and all the videos I've seen, makes me wary of stepping into a lane. Even walking on a sidewalk, a car can jump a curb and smack into you if it's just not you're time. Just don't go asking for it like these guys did.

That's a dumb, drugged up bitch that hasn't seen a consequence for her stupid behavior for too long.

I've seen people make the standing in the road mistake at accidents and in other situations when no women were involved. It's stupidity, but that doesn't make it white knighting.

My first impression was that I would have tackled her and restrained her off the road. I probably also would have moved the car had there been a lull in traffic. Of course it's easy to say these things from afar; sometimes quick thinking fails in the moment.

And you can't see that guy, but listening to his voice, he doesn't come across as someone who would physically restrain a drunk man either. In fact most people are very apprehensive about physically restraining drunk people of any gender even if they're going to hurt themselves or someone else.

Since drunk people are often still walking and talking it can take a bit of nerve to cross the line to forcing them against their will, and even when safety warrants it, we often hesitate. It goes against our nature. This is why so few people stop drunk friends from picking up their car keys and walking out the door.

Back to so called white knighting. Some people just like to help when they see someone in trouble. Yes, this woman was being retarded, but she was inebriated and couldn't think straight. That's what alcohol does and most of us have been there whether we realized it later or not.

I've personally put myself in harm's way for men whose drunkenness have put them in a bad situation. Strangers, not friends. If they would have been women, people could have called me a white knight, if I cared, but again some of us just feel an urge to help when we see shit going downhill. I think it's a mistake to judge others' behavior from the lens of your own worldview, as many men in this thread (not you, specifically, Veloce) seem to be doing.

These guys could have handled this situation in a lot of different ways but I don't hear anything in their voices that suggests anything but concern, annoyance, and disgust for this woman and her state. And I respect the ones that at least tried to diffuse the situation instead of just driving on, even if they did fuck it up.

I've always liked the EMS standard of asking people "can I help you" and assisting if they agree, or assisting if they can't answer. Here is a good example with these two videos:

1. Texting white bitch in the Scion TC (I am doubting the car is hers...chicks don't buy that car). She is ignoring those around her and would likely ignore or deny an offer of help. I wouldn't help her but would likely throw down road flares to warn other drivers. Now AFTER she was struck by a truck, I would assist if it was safe to do so.

2. KO'd black bitch in the Chrysler 200 (that is her car for sure, only a chick would buy a car thats almost a Chrysler 300) I would help immediately if it was safe. Who knows if she was passed out drunk (obvious once you can see the booty shorts) or if she had a seizure, stroke or diabetic event. She also can't indicate whether or not she wants help.

EMS/medical and first aid practices for assistance are built on years of practical experience and are good guidelines to follow when one has the desire to intervene.

Edit: WATCH the start of the first video again...the chick is putting on her pants?! No wonder so many dudes were stopping if this bitch was running around butt naked before the video starts....Nope. I watched it again and she's taking a piss...what the fuck lady! She stopped to take a piss in the middle of the interstate.
