You may remember ms. pao from such threads as claiming gender discrimination and then losing. I guarantee they are afraid to fire this woman because she will just sue them for gender something.

Anyway, her latest greatest idea is that there will be no salary negotiations at reddit because men are better at negotiating than women and a pay gap is created. I see it as "men are usually better workers and so have more head hunting offers and so are more often asking for pay increases"

Anway, looks like they are turning reddit into a government agency where your salary is determined by your job title....and they will then get government quality employees.

I suspect that her stay as interim CEO will not be a lengthy one.

Reddit is a for profit business. The market has a nasty habit of quickly punishing those who engage in sub optimal strategy for whatever reason, whether for social engineering or just plain stupidity. This kind of crap is only sustainable at a monopoly or a government agency. Reddit is neither and is subject to competitive pressures.

In this case, not having salary negotiations is likely to have a couple effects - either lowering the quality of employees, or having the company pay in excess of someone's market value. Both of these harm the short and long term interests of the company.

Basically the quality employees who get multiple offers from different companies will say fuck this shit when they can't negotiate and won't choose Reddit. On the other hand, the lower quality potential hires, who will take any job they can get because they are only borderline competitive, will be happy with any offer.

If no one can negotiate their salary, isn't that a near-guarantee that they'll take any better offers since they aren't allowed to see if Reddit is willing to match?

I suppose that takes forward thinking, which the average feminist has no concept of.

Women do negotiate far worse for the few jobs that have negotiable basis for it.

Every HR manager knows that women negotiate worse for the few jobs that leave some significant room for wage negotiations. The main reason why most corporations are leaving that option even open is because they know that someone who negotiates better is sometimes more high-potential or will also negotiate better with clients. Also some candidates do have better offers elsewhere and there has to be a leeway there in order to get them.

And it is wrong to assume that women will get a bigger cut of the pie in this case. Not women, but the corporations will eat the pie. So essentially PAO just lowers wages on average and also punishes those few women that can actually negotiate well.

I'm not too familiar with corporate governance in the US but in the UK all members of the board of directors are voted in the by the shareholders at every AGM. If the shareholders decide to fire her is she really going to sue every single shareholder for being sexist? I'm sure reddit has multiple shareholders and I can't see her suing all of them. The looney broad needs to be sacked for implementing poor decisions anyway. Hopefully for the sake of Reddit it will be sooner rather than later.

It's really no problem for her to do this.

The only reason men with skillz continue to work at companies like reddit, is because they get paid in a manner that is commensurate with their contributions.

As soon as their $100 worth of contributions earns $70, while a woman's $70 contribution earns $70, they'll simple migrate to employers who value their contributions.

I wish her a long reign as she runs Reddit into the ground and gives SJWs the justice they envision.

For the 90% trash, there's 10% gold. There are a few redeeming portions of it, but the majority of the forums on it are filled with blue pill trash.

She's not going far enough. She should take a hard line and say that the company needs to have a strict 50/50 hiring split.

What's funny is that this is clearly targeted at engineering jobs. Engineers, who negotiate by looking at the table, shuffling their feet, and mumbling. If she's saying that women as a group are worse negotiators than male ENGINEERS, then that's really saying something. If I were a woman, I'd be insulted.
