So I went to my dentist today for a routine dental cleaning. I've been seeing him since I moved to Houston, and haven't switched since.

He's always been a clean shaven middle aged guy, not too much older than I. Today, however, he comes in sporting a nice evenly trimmed beard worth about 3 months of growth. I comment on it, saying "nice beard! I don't think I've seen you with one before."

Then he says that his wife wanted him to grow a beard. I smile and go, "oh really?"

"Well, when I was in college, I grew a beard once and I never liked it. So I shaved and never looked back," he said. Then he quotes his wife, "you should grow a beard, because I think I will really like it."

And here I am thinking: his wife must have been cheating on him with some bearded alpha... and either her affair ended, OR she started feeling guilty and is trying to get the 'gina tingles back for her husband by getting him to Man Up with a beard.

Of course, I didn't say anything. I just sat there smiling dumbly with my freshly cleaned and whitened teeth.

Ok, I admit that I may be jumping to conclusions and in addition to that, I had been reading Rational Male, Preventative Medicine a couple hours before the dentist visit.

It was the way the dentist said it, though... something seemed off. Of course I could be wrong, but with red pill readings (and admittedly, my own divorce) fresh in my mind, I did not think it would be that much of a stretch either. Who knows.
