CNN - women favored in academia hiring
http://www.cnn.com/2015/04/13/opinions/w...index.html

Quote:What we found shocked us. Women had an overall 2-to-1 advantage in being ranked first for the job in all fields studied. This preference for women was expressed equally by male and female faculty members, with the single exception of male economists, who were gender neutral in their preferences.

Quote:Our results, coupled with actuarial data on real-world academic hiring showing a female advantage, suggest this is a propitious time for women beginning careers in academic science. The low numbers of women in math-based fields of science do not result from sexist hiring, but rather from women's lower rates of choosing to enter math-based fields in the first place, due to sex differences in preferred careers and perhaps to lack of female role models and mentors.

I'm not surprised that women are actually the ones who get the preferential treatment. I see this shit constantly in academia. But I am surprised CNN allowed someone to post about it.

While women may encounter sexism before and during graduate training and after becoming professors, the only sexism they face in the hiring process is bias in their favor.

I'm not too surprised. I see this shit constantly in academia. I am surprised by the fact that CNN allowed this to be posted.

Being a woman in the US is like playing the game of life on easy. The typical woman would have a nervous breakdown if she had to live a year as a man.

Actually: depression and a distinct preference for female privilege over male privilege.

Delete.

"I can count on one hand, literally, the number of women I have ever met that can take that kind of advice, accept it and make use of it without their epic egos setting metaphorical fire to the conversation.

Most women "looking for advice" are in reality looking for someone to validate their cosmic victimhood, because it's not really their fault, because it's never their fault. This behavioural trait isn't absent among men, but when we fail society cares not, while when women fail there is no shortage of comforting platitudes on offer from every vector.

More female professors in science? Expect a drop in quality and lack of innovation in everything from surgery to space exploration.

More than men, women punish non-conformity and free-thinking. Women do not take to eccentrics or off-the-charts intelligence. Women are more concerned with process, style and rule-following than results. Hell, the biggest sitcom on TV now, "Big Bang Theory," is based around this premise.

It's a shame the obsessive promotion of women has bled into the sciences because women have been ruining fields from English to psychology since the '70s.

I recently happened to go back and look over the "acknowledgements" section of my book. It struck me that although the majority of my teachers and professors were women, the two I thanked were men.

I didn't do this purposely. It was just that when it came to either firing my imagination or encouraging me to explore unpopular or offensive ideas that would later prove forward-thinking, the ones that did it were men.

I have memories of getting yelled at or graded down by female professors and high school teachers for the exact same ideas. God help the scientist who discovers a cure for anything while under the tutelage of a female professor. He'll probably get expelled for "not following a rule" or some such trivial bullshit.

I've meant to start a "Tell your female teacher horror story" thread on here. Maybe I will.

RE: CNN - women favored in academia hiring
It ain't just limited to science, either.

I had to hire a couple of ghost writers from Odesk a while back because I simply didn't have the time to meet my yearly goals. Biggest mistake of my life was hiring female writers. NEVER again. It felt like cheating myself (and it was).

Had this been my pre-red pill days, I might have chalked up the excessive discussion of feeeeeelings in the characters to simple, overemotional, needy lizards. But when the male characters do it too? Please. This shit went on in every damn chapter. I refused to even publish it and these women came with stellar ranking.

Rankings on Odesk don't mean shit.

One of the hallmarks of a great novel (or non-fiction book, even) is that it all makes sense in the end. Everything ties together in that "ahh! That's cool!" moment. The reader comes away thinking it all fits together LOGICALLY. This is not a trait female writers usually possess. I swear I heard Lester Dent turn over in his grave as I read back what they wrote and shook my head in disgust.

RE: CNN - women favored in academia hiring
I’m in finance and it’s happening with my team too:

My director is female, she has 2 female managers under her. My manager has 3 men, 3 women, the other manager has 3 women. Total team 9 females, 3 males. However, if you go further up the food chain, just about all the VPs, SVPs and above are (mostly white) male.

It’s obvious that the company is packing the lower levels with women and (nearly all Asian) minorities to claim diversity, but at the higher levels there’s very few women. I’m at a big multinational company and you can only go so far just because you’re a woman. Above a certain level, you really have to produce the goods.

I was told that one of my female colleagues was only hired because the male VP liked her personality (in other words he thought she was hot - she's actually a 6). A more experienced male candidate was overlooked because of her. There’s also a black lady who’s hated by everybody because she’s a very political bitch – the word on the street is that she’s only keeping her job because she’s the only black person in the whole department, and that she’s likely to sue for racism if fired.

I’ve also noticed that nearly all of the admins and PAs are old hags – these women really have to know how to do their jobs. The only places where I’ve seen guys with really hot secretaries is at smaller companies.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This reminds me of an old joke:

There’s 3 women going for a personal assistant role to the male CEO of a huge company.

A has a master’s degree and 1 year’s work experience
B has a bachelor’s degree and 3 year’s work experience
C has no college degree, but 5 year’s work experience

Question – who gets hired?
Answer – the one with the biggest tits!

I know you found that last joke funny, but at the risk of alienating the forum and its loyal readers, I take serious issue with it. The obsession with breasts is just wrong.

After all, everyone knows the woman you hire is the one with the longest legs who wears the shortest skirts.

And now, back to our show.

RE: CNN - women favored in academia hiring
My dad has worked at the post office for 25 years, he said they keep making women postmasters and putting them in bureaucratic 'management' roles now more than any of his previous years there.

Government and academia are extreme about putting women in charge. As most of the roles are figurehead or paper-pushing there's really no consequence or demands for performance.
Look at Obama with Susan Rice and Jen Psaki etc.... it helps them secure votes by appearing to 'empower' women.

In the oilfield 99% of workers are male, but anytime an oil company has a commercial they always show women employees. The recent Air Force recruiting commercials show female fighter pilots /scientists etc....

I hope they're happy their shit 'career' subverted a replacement birthrate and paved the way for a Muslim/Chinese/Hispanic future. In 30 years there wont be anymore young American white women, as the current crop is too selfish and 'independent' to be bothered with motherhood.

RE: CNN - women favored in academia hiring
I too, am surprised this article was posted on CNN. But they essentially obfuscate the actual content of their own article by surrounding it with typical narrative propaganda.

I mean, up at the top of the page they have this utterly useless slideshow showcasing women. The only purpose of this slideshow is to push the actual content of the article down on the page. The vast majority of people who click on the article will never scroll down to see the actual text.

Take a look at the "story highlights." The structure and phrasing here is entirely about crafting a comforting womb of lies around the nugget of truth contained in this story:

CNN Wrote:Wendy Williams, Stephen J. Ceci: Received wisdom is that sexism keeps women from getting ahead in sciences

Start by asserting the lie. "Sexism keeps women from getting ahead in sciences."

Prime people's brains to think in those familiar media-established narratives about sexism and women being prevented from achieving true greatness because of nasty sexism.

CNN Wrote:Their new research shows that female scientists have a significantly higher chance of being interviewed and hired than men

Remove context: "Female scientists have a significantly higher chance of being interviewed and hired than men."

This vague statement completely removes meaningful data in order to make it difficult to evaluate whether this is good or bad.

Spin: Focus on the women, rather than the men who are the ones actually being discriminated against.

Use mincing words: Instead of leading with women favored 2:1, or 100% over men, use the vague and wordy phrasing, "significantly higher."

CNN Wrote:They interpret findings: Anti-female bias in academic hiring has ended and now is a good time for young women to seek science jobs

Conclude by repeating the lie: "Anti-female bias."

We've primed those neural pathways to follow the narrative, so follow up by keying them again.

Spin: Implicitly assert that all that nasty sexism was what was keeping women back in the first place. Reinforce the narrative!

Spin: Phrase this discrimination in a positive way. Discrimination [against women] has ended, we did it!

Focus on the important things: The key highlight here is that discrimination against women has ended, not that men are being massively institutionally discriminated against.

Bless the Lord that in IT there is almost no vagina unless you are working in a Big Corporation which usually I tend to runaway from. Fuck it, I have seen an entire team of 6 coder changed its dynamics because of a simple 8 in the team.

In fact, one of the things I look when getting a new gig is if Im going to be working for or with any woman, and then I proceed to decline the offer because misaligned objectives. LOL.

I realized that women do not belong in the workforce just look at all the fucked up kids nowadays because mommy decided to be a career woman. Fuck that!

I work in STEM R&D. If there's a woman interested in the role and isn't a complete retard, everyone trips over each other to hire her. Earlier in my career, nearly every time I got a new job or promotion, it was actually offered to a woman first, but she turned it down due to her desire for a better work-life balance... It doesn't stop there either. Once hired, everyone makes it a priority to ensure she succeeds, especially if she's a media friendly one (i.e white, at least somewhat attractive girl). Says a lot that they still can't produce anything worth a damn with all those advantages.

I don't think it is a conspiracy to favor feminism.

I think it is because women are seen as less likely to complain and be ambitious, and potentially threaten the pecking order and tenure established by the senior academics making the hiring decisions.

Since we are not talking about the private sector, they are free from normal competitive pressures that would eliminate such behavior.

RE: CNN - women favored in academia hiring
One of the major reasons I got out of academia was the implementation of the "Have a penis, need not apply." policies being cemented into place.

In fact, the university where I worked now has a female president, two female deans and the HR "director" is a woman too.

I worked in a science department (Chemistry); the professor that hired me was an old school, qualified male and we worked perfectly together. When he retired, he was going to be replaced by...yep, a freshly minted woman "professora". She went to grad school at a known Affirmative Action degree mill, so I made my assumptions about her qualifications, or lack of, and decided there was no way was I going to hold the hand and put up with the cluelessness of this newbie chick. I left the university the same time my professor did. Word is the professora and some of the wymmin and beta "males" in the department were pissed that I left the same time as my professor did. Oh well. I was telling part of the truth when I said: "I can't see myself remaining here without 'my professor' being here. The dynamic that we've created can't be replicated."

That was a lot of years and knowledge that walked out the door that day. But I'm sure they can hire a few qualified wymmin to fill the gap...

^^Yes. Asians are being imported here to replace whites; Hispanics to replace blacks.

Meanwhile, the white Americunts can celebrate "diversity" by havibg birthday parties for their pets and burning up inside with the hate they have for the Muslim/Chinese/Hispanics who have kids and generally live "traditional" lives.

But, "Congrats" to the feminists - they won!!! /s

Strangely the best manager ive ever had was female, but it was because she was sort of red pill and understood people well. My job was by the hour and I typically didn't stick around Longer than my hours because of it--unless you bribed me. She would constantly bribe me and the other workers and look the other way as long as shit got done. In hindsight it was quite corrupt but I appreciated someone who understood that I didn't give a fuck unless there was something in it for me.
